Horribly inaccurate lead times on items. It felt like every camera I wanted to buy I wouldn't be able to take delivery of by the end of the year so I made some compromises in order to get something from these guys. Even after being told my cameras should ship they were delayed and I missed deadline after deadline. At one point I even had to have them redirect my shipments to the 4 Seasons where I was staying on holiday in an attempt to actually take delivery of what I bought and they still didn't deliver. Incomplete shipments, incorrect shipments, and here I am months later and I'm still dealing with trying to solve an order from December. The only star I can give to the folks at Abel was in their support department. The guy they had me working with, Jason, did help me put together the package I wanted even if I couldn't actually get what he was telling me to buy. He had a fast response time even if every time I talked to the guy he was telling me things were delayed or he flat out didn't have them in the warehouse. I honestly don't know how this place does business since they never seem to have anything on the shelf and then after almost three months awaiting a lens that I tell them I don't want anymore they try to tell me that I have to keep it.

I highly recommend Hollywood Audio Video Transfer House and Notary and Live Scan!…read more I originally found them because I needed to get my fingerprints done for school. They were super close to my house, had great reviews, and were very convenient, so I decided to stop by. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised to realize they also specialize in audio and video transfers. The timing felt almost divine because literally the day before, I had told myself that I needed to finally get some old VHS tapes transferred to digital! The entire experience was great. They were incredibly friendly, professional, and their prices were very affordable. My fingerprints were done quickly and easily, and I came back the very next day with my VHS tapes. I dropped the tapes off on a Friday, and everything was already finished and ready for me by Monday morning. The turnaround was so much faster than I expected. Such a great local business. Professional, friendly, affordable, and quick. I'm so glad I randomly stumbled across them and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

So I Googled digitizing service near me and this place came up. I contacted them and spoke to Rudy…read moreand found out that to take a VHS over to a memory stick or a DVD would be twenty dollars. Sounded fair to me. I paid $20 for the VHS that I was trying to have done and had ordered a VHS machine because the one that we got here at the house was looking weird like with snow running across the screen remember back in the day you used to have to adjust the tracking sometimes and then it would clear up I couldn't find that option on our machine here at the house so I ended up ordering another one and then that one arrived busted through shipping but I didn't realize it was busted until after it ate my tape and at that point my wife ordered me another VHS tape of what I wanted through eBay and I knew working in there I was going to try and get it converted over. Couple days ago I took in my tape they gave me a quote right then and there which was a little bit more than what they had told me on the phone but they told me why, my wife is telling me I call bullshit for this that or the other reason and I'm like you know what it doesn't matter if it happens and it works for that price I'm happy because trying to find places to play a VHS to do a class is what I'm trying to do a Billiards class is more difficult than with a DVD or a memory stick on a computer so it's fine. The staff there was very courteous and straight to the point. I will find out Monday if they are able to do it for me because there are some type of encoding that they put on the tapes at times and some of it is unbreakable so we will see Monday if they are able to make mine work the tape the VHS itself is about 40 years old. So that's another reason to modernize it. Anyways I would recommend this place.

There's a lot about this business I really, really liked! First off, not having to go downtown is…read moresuch a great thing. To be clear, however, you're not going to get any natural light at all here like you do in the big, old building downtown with the huge banks of tremendous windows. If you want that kind of shoot, this isn't that. Also, I found the strobe units to be usable, but not fully professional. For instance, they didn't fire reliably all the time, and I think they are prone to overheating when used with a pro-model with whom a good photographer can get a frame every second to second and a half for twenty or thirty frames. That was annoying, and I lost about 25 frames or so out of about 700 to misfires. You also can't make any adjustments to settings remotely from the controller unit, which is pretty inconvenient when using a multi-light setup. That said, the place is clean, neat and well organized. The light stands and wide selections of excellent modifiers (including a really big one for a soft, flat lighting base), were appropriate to the space and in good repair. There's tons of colors of seamless options (though no cyc) and there were enough power cables and AC points to reach wherever I needed. There's a fan. There's a really great, big private dressing room, WiFi and the ability to connect and play your own music through a pretty nice system. They have a good selection of stools and full and half apple boxes. There's ample air conditioning (it was 100 degrees outside the day of my shoot) and we were comfortable in the studio - an absolute must to avoid sweaty models. Communication with the owner went well and the price is appropriate to the offering. All in all, this is the perfect place for the right type of job. There are times you need pro level strobes that recycle in milliseconds, but if you don't (family shoot, amateur models for engagements, business headshots), this place is a perfect ten.
