They were also extremely accommodating when the scope of our project changed--we decided to refinish the hardwood floors on our stairs and in our office before installation, and they updated the pricing quickly and fairly without any hassle. The installation itself was smooth and impressively well-coordinated. The crew handled removal and install flawlessly, worked efficiently, and clearly knew what they were doing. The finished product looks fantastic. We highly recommend American Carpet Distributors for anyone looking for quality service from a family-run business you can trust. Tip: cash is preferred

I highly recommend. More specifically, the test of a true professional comes after the job is done. I had an issue with a few tiles coming up in my basement, It was possibly a manufacturer's defect but that didn't matter to Alex. He insisted on making the job right and came back and everything is perfect. Honest, hard-working, and a perfectionist... What else could you ask for in a tradesman?! I'm a customer for life! I thought spreading the word is the best way I can thank him.

Alex Mendez came right over and answered all of our questions. First we just wanted carpeting, but then his fair pricing allowed us to have him also install luxurious vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen and foyer. From beginning to end, the process was painless. The installation was PERFECT! Our friends and family look at us like we're amazing re modelers. LOL! It wasn't us... it was Armnali Carpet & Vinyl. Thank you Alex for making us look so good. The problem with remodeling our condo for our daughter was... now we want our primary home to look that good. So, we called Alex once again and discussed our plan to have a movie theater themed living room which required a darker colored carpeting. Alex gave us excellent choices from which to select. It is done and once again, our guests think we're great remodelers. One of my family members said that I'm like a master carpenter. Similar to Spike Lee, I say, "It's gotta be the carpet!" Guess what!? Armnali Carpet & Vinyl is scheduled to install carpeting at another property at the beginning of November... and it's going to be great. He doesn't know it yet, but we're going to remodel our basement. So that means that we're calling Armnali Carpet and Vinyl again. It's the BEST remodeling decision that we've made. Thank You Alex!!! See you real soon!

Three were eliminated because of the onerous terms of their form contracts, the unprofessional rep who visited us, or the delay/failure to provide a written bid. 312Flooring was completely different. Jesse, who came to bid the job, was knowledgeable, helpful, and obviously had authority to respond to questions and concerns. Peter, the owner, reviewed Jesse's video of the job, and approved the written bid. We chose 312Flooring. Their bid was not the lowest, but they were not the highest either. Peter and Jesse guided the project through our Condo Assn., stayed in touch with us reporting their progress, and were ready to start on the date promised. On the appointed day, the installation crew, Juan and his two sons, arrived. The next three days were almost pleasurable -- they were skilled, polite, respectful of our home, and enormously helpful in resolving the difficulties that arise during any remodeling project. Our floor was finished on time and on budget and we are very pleased with the finished product. While any home improvement project can be stressful, we heartily recommend 312Flooring should you decide to replace or install hardwood flooring.

    Superior Installations Corp of Illinois

If you're considering Superior for flooring installation -- think twice…read more This company was slow to respond, dishonest in their pricing, and gave every impression they were trying to rip us off. Here's what happened: I was renovating a rental unit and initially contacted a well-reviewed local flooring company. Their schedule was full for 4-5 months, but they recommended going through Home Depot for faster service -- which felt like a solid endorsement. I reached out to Home Depot, and they said they could fit us in much sooner. They assigned the job to Superior. Things started off fine: Superior came out quickly for an initial assessment, quoted us around $7,200, and said any additional necessary leveling would be quoted separately once the old floor was removed. We were transparent about prior water damage and the fact that the floor wasn't level. They noted this in the quote and seemed to understand and some leveling was included in the original quote with the understanding more may be needed once they took up the old floor and understood the full scope. We paid and got on their schedule -- though it was still two months out. When they finally showed up and removed the old flooring, they "discovered" residual moisture (which everyone was already aware of), and abruptly left, refusing to continue the work. This wasn't standing water -- just minor residual moisture that dried within a day. Still, they pushed us back another month. When they finally returned, that's when the real nonsense began: they demanded an additional $8,000 for leveling -- more than doubling the original cost. We expected some additional cost for leveling. But their claim? They needed 140 bags of leveling compound. I asked for a proper breakdown of labor and materials. They refused. I pushed for three days. They still refused. Eventually, I went to Home Depot and asked to speak to a manager to hopefully push Superior to get us a detailed quote. They did just that and eventually Superior relented. But what I got was a single-line item with a vague description and a total -- no breakdown, no explanation. Just a number. Again, I understood there could be some overage beyond the original $7,200. But more than double the price? For context: leveling compound costs about $20-30/bag at retail. At $30/a bag - that's $4,200 for 140 bags -- and that's the most expensive compound we found at HD and is estimated at full retail, and not the lower rate contractors typically get. So where was the other $3,800 going? We'd already paid for labor in the original quote, and Superior told me in person on the day of install when doing the estimate, that no additional labor time would be needed -- just curing time. So what exactly were we paying for? No one could answer. I got fed up and gave Home Depot an ultimatum: either assign a new contractor or refund my money. Thankfully, they assigned someone new. That contractor immediately gave us a detailed quote, estimated 80 bags (not 140), and ended up using only 75. The job was completed quickly and for thousands less -- and we even got a partial refund for the unused material. So, was Superior trying to scam us? Hard to say definitively -- but it sure felt that way. Either they were wildly incompetent, or they were being intentionally dishonest. I'm leaning heavily toward the latter. Why? Because they waited until the day of install -- not demo day -- to even estimate how much leveling material they'd need. Why show up ready to install with no clue what you need to do the work? Probably because they knew this was a rental unit and figured we'd be desperate to finish, so we'd just agree and pay whatever they told us. Bottom line: I've been overcharged before -- but this felt deliberate. They stalled us with avoidable delays, refused transparency, and tried to trap us with a bloated, last-minute bill. Another contractor used nearly half the materials they claimed we'd need. Avoid Superior. There are better, more honest contractors out there. And if you're working through Home Depot, tell them upfront that you refuse to work with Superior. Trust me -- it's in your best interest.

Igor's team was fantastic from beginning to end--I had originally contacted them through email, and they called back almost immediately to discuss materials, size of room, and what we were looking for. Igor then visited two days later to do a full measure of the room and lugged in (literally) 10 pounds of different flooring samples for us to choose from. After we chose the material, he had a quote to us within 24 hours and an appointment set up shortly after. The team during installation was great as well--they were polite, prompt, and extremely efficient. They took up all my old floor and carpet and laid down the flooring quickly, moving my furniture for me and keeping any dust to a bare minimum. They made sure to clean up at the end of the day (the project took 2.5 days) and swept up dust nightly. We had a small issue with the wrong material being delivered, and Igor was able to resolve that immediately, personally driving out the next day just to install some edging on the top of the stairs. The installation took him just under 30 minutes, and he drove out over an hour just to do that for us. Overall, they were great and I will recommend them to anyone and everyone for their future flooring needs.

First, he directed us to a website to order balusters, which didn't fit and couldn't be installed. The second option we chose from a different site was installed with spacing that didn't meet code requirements. For the third option, he used accessory components that we hadn't approved and disliked stylistically. When we raised our concerns, he became defensive and refused to take responsibility, inaccurately claiming the reason for the third install is that we didn't like the style of the second install, which we actually preferred. Additionally, after setting a date to complete shoe molding and other punch-list items, Igor never showed up and has since been unresponsive.
