DENTAL MALPARACTICE! DENTAL MALPRACTICE!…read more
Parents read about Dr Harmer.
Dr. Harmer took an oath to protect her patients, especially children, from harm and to avoid causing any injury. She has violated her ethical duty of care by failing to treat or refer my 11-year-old son, instead denying him the necessary care.
MY EXPERIENCE:
My three children were patients for over eight years, visiting every six months for cleanings and checkups without ever missing an appointment. The office and staff were nice, but don't be fooled.
In 2023, my middle son, who began seeing Dr. Harmer at age 3, had an X-ray taken when he was 8. See picture.
According to three orthodontists and two oral surgeons, the picture showed partial impaction that should have been addressed immediately by Dr. Harmer, a pediatric dentist, which could have saved the adult tooth. She reviewed the x-rays, said the adult teeth were coming in, and we left happily, unaware until 2026--three years later--that we had an urgent problem that would cause lifelong issues.
From 2023 to 2026, no x-rays were done on my middle child, despite visiting Dr. Harmer every six months for cleanings and checkups. X-rays were done randomly on my other two children. If my middle child had a "known" issue, why was there zero follow-up? No mention of any problems or serious concerns was made to me, the mother, during those three years.
In May 2026, I took my two youngest to an orthodontist for an Invisalign consult. After ortho x-rays, to my shock and horror, my middle child had a fully impacted, unsavable adult tooth that had penetrated his jaw bone.
By August 2026, my worst nightmare came true--my son had to undergo general anesthesia, my biggest fear, to remove the fully impacted adult tooth. The oral surgeon called it a "gnarly" surgery, followed by a terrible seven-day recovery with lots of tears, pain medication, and many stitches. Two more surgeon visits, a costly procedure, and a perfectly healthy, strong adult tooth lost due to malpractice. The oral surgeon said it was a very large, healthy tooth.
My 11-year-old son is now being considered for a tooth implant as if he were 19. What?!
He used to joke about Dr. Harmer's name, saying she would harm him, and I'd laugh, reassuring him she wouldn't. Sadly, his words turned out to be prophetic. We did everything right, yet Dr. Harmer blamed us. Now she's lying and covering up, claiming I knew about it. I had never even heard the word "impaction" in relation to teeth until 2026. She sees hundreds of kids and knew exactly what she was looking at in the x-rays but failed to disclose or mention it.
Shame on you, Dr. Harmer. You took an oath to protect children in your care, and as a pediatric dentist, you have a strict duty of care. You breached this duty through negligence, causing harm that led to damages and lifelong dental issues for my son. He's a great, well-mannered kid who did not deserve such professional negligence.
My current dental malpractice lawyer said this should never have happened--ever!!!

Absolutely egregious and likely intentional in my opinion. A pediatric dentist shouldn't be so careless, ignorant, or unethical. Dr. Harmer, perhaps you could post the oath "do no harm" somewhere visible each morning to remind yourself of your professional and legal duties toward these innocent children.
Parents, consider this a warning--protect your kids.
