The bedding and pillows however were atrocious! Very disappointed in the pillows especially. The room itself was nice, and the bathroom was too, but it had no shower door??? What? Service - We arrived 5 minutes late, and they were still setting up our room. They were also late for opening the pool, I had to remind them. They also knocked on our door "room service" and opened it without letting us respond... Lucky we weren't doing anything but who knows what was happening? Pretty disappointed with the service. Spa and pool were beautiful. Pool was very shallow though. Would I stay here again? Honestly, just for the location of the hotel, yes. But if there was something else nearby, I would definitely try them out over the Rydges.

Quest Cronulla Beach

Cronulla is a gem of an area, with endless beaches, storefront shopping, sizeable promenades,…read morerestaurants, nightlife and so on. I'm also told by locals that it's rapidly changing and expanding. Surprisingly, there are only about 3 hotels in the immediate area so I ended up choosing Quest somewhat by default. The signage was a bit hard to find. Quest actually occupies about 2 floors of a 12 (or so) story apartment building. I eventually found the sign, but parking was also difficult to figure out and needed to be directed by front desk. Tip: parking entrance is on Elouera Rd, and is underground. It shares parking with Northies bar and that sign is easier to locate. But once we settled it, we really enjoyed our room. Front desk throughout our 2 night stay were always very helpful and friendly. It was a nice large room, and the bed was really comfortable - a detail that isn't small when you're staying in a hotel. The hotel is situated right in the heart of Cronulla. Anything you're looking for in Cronulla is within a short walk. Before arrival, I hadn't looked into the fact that the train station is only a few minute walk away. No real regrets from renting a car I suppose, but we always took the train when we were going into Sydney. Much easier, cheaper (when considering parking in Sydney) and perhaps only a few minutes longer for the trip itself. I mentioned Northies earlier, which is a very large pub on the lowest floor. I never heard it during the day, but we stayed on a weekend and it music was extremely loud and transferred to our room since we were right above it. Fortunately, they turn it off either right at midnight and both evenings we had barely returned to our room, so it didn't really affect us. With that in mind, I won't let it affect the rating, but anyone looking to stay here should keep that in mind and enquire with the hotel about it. I can't speak to weeknights. There's also a small gym available and a pool - though it was under maintenance when we stayed (and it was only Spring). Overall, a really pleasant stay. From the sounds of it, they may be facing more competition with the area increasingly becoming more popular lots of construction taking place. Regardless, a good choice so long as you don't plan on going to bed before midnight on weekends.

I stayed in a queen studio room with balcony offering views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Unfortunately staying over the weekend meant a cruise ship obstructing our view of the Opera House but they departed around 6:30pm, finally giving us a clear look on Monday morning. Fireworks went off both nights with us lucky enough to be in our room with a perfect view when they did. There is a pool, spa and sauna on the ground floor surrounded by the buffet breakfast area. We opted to eat out but the full buffet breakfast is $24, $19 if pre booked. There was also a lovely terrace but didn't appear to be linked to the hotel, at least not that we could find. Street noise was an issue on Saturday, I'm a light sleeper, with loud cars and people yelling until around 3am when I was finally able to nod off. My partner however slept through it. Bad nights sleep aside, I'm sure that's standard for a Saturday in Sydney, I was really pleased with this hotel and would recommend it.

The W has two pools, both on high floors overlooking the city scape. There's a fancy restaurant as well as a bar that serves food. The only negatives were the bathroom is very dark, the shower was hard to work (hot/cold turn opposite ways), and In Room Dining was 30 minutes late, making me late to my wine tasting tour.

The room itself easily felt five-star and made the stay feel special. The property has a sleek, modern vibe and is well located in Woolloomooloo, making it convenient while still feeling a bit removed from the busiest parts of the city. The common areas are polished and visually impressive, and the overall atmosphere feels upscale and energetic. Where the experience fell short was service consistency. While some staff were friendly and professional, others didn't quite deliver the level of attentiveness you'd expect from a five-star hotel. A few interactions felt rushed or indifferent, which took away from what was otherwise a very strong stay. Overall, the excellent suite and beautiful property carry this hotel to a solid four stars. With more consistent, refined service across the board, the W Sydney could easily live up to its luxury reputation. Hopefully over the next three days it improves. Will update.

Soon after, we got a notification that the room was already available, much earlier than we expected. After getting our keys and going upstairs to check out our room, our luggage was already laying there. The hotel also has a decent size gym though I must say it's not the best I've been to. They do have a very nice indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. The breakfast is pretty good and has a nice variety. The best part of the hotel though in my opinion is its proximity to a lot of attractions including just a 10 min walk to the harbor and Sydney Opera House. It's located in the Rock neighborhood so lots of restaurants to choose from. It's also only a 10 min walk to George street which is the one of the main shopping and walking streets in Sydney. My only negative feedback is that the hotel seems a bit dated to me and the furniture, bathroom, and carpets need an upgrade / remodel.

The room itself was huge, and well-appointed with a Smeg refrigerator, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. Dan tipped me off to the welcome service, which changes by the season. Since I stayed at the ADGE in winter, the welcome service included hot cider and a cheese plate which I shared with a friend from the comfort of the couch in my room. (How great is that?) I'd gladly stay at the ADGE Apartment Hotel again. The location is excellent, the rates are reasonable, the staff is friendly, the wifi worked and the beds are comfortable. What more can you ask for?

Unfortunately, I stayed a while and the charm faded a bit over the days. The hotel was large, but it still had an intimate feeling. The concierge/bell hops were probably the best part of our stay. They were incredibly friendly, helpful and polite. One gentleman was always chipper, whistling and hustling which made me smile every time I saw him. He always remembered my name and greeted me warmly. Conversely, the front desk staff were cold, stiff, pre-occupied and inattentive. The room was on the smaller size, but had a nice view of the city. Through the concrete jungle, you could see where the harbour area was without actually seeing the harbour. It seemed as if the fixtures and bathroom could use some updating and redecorating. It seems like free wifi just isn't something common in Sydney, and this hotel was no exception. Limited wifi access is available at a fee. In the lobby area codes for a small increment of free wifi time are available but you practically have to hold a gun to the front desk staff to get one. I loved the location. Everything was really within walking distance. Darling Harbour, QVC, Chinatown, the Rocks and Circular Quay seemed like just a hop, skip and a jump. Lots of goodies! Attention to detail: Never better! From the spare toilet paper that reads "who gives a crap" to the frame hanging in the lobby for people to take selfies with, this place is fun and interesting. I found myself wanting to explore the hotel as much as I wanted to explore Sydney. Food: Nice spread! They had a really nice continental breakfast spread in the morning... lots of fruits, breads and pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, a variety of juices, and a coffee machine. I think there would be something there for everyone but if that didn't suit your fancy you could also pay for other breakfast options from the kitchen or coffee bar. Literally the only downside I came across was that the walls were thin so I could hear a lot of noises from the hallway and laundry room. So pack some ear plugs!
