Cronulla is a gem of an area, with endless beaches, storefront shopping, sizeable promenades, restaurants, nightlife and so on. I'm also told by locals that it's rapidly changing and expanding. Surprisingly, there are only about 3 hotels in the immediate area so I ended up choosing Quest somewhat by default.
The signage was a bit hard to find. Quest actually occupies about 2 floors of a 12 (or so) story apartment building. I eventually found the sign, but parking was also difficult to figure out and needed to be directed by front desk. Tip: parking entrance is on Elouera Rd, and is underground. It shares parking with Northies bar and that sign is easier to locate.
But once we settled it, we really enjoyed our room. Front desk throughout our 2 night stay were always very helpful and friendly. It was a nice large room, and the bed was really comfortable - a detail that isn't small when you're staying in a hotel. The hotel is situated right in the heart of Cronulla. Anything you're looking for in Cronulla is within a short walk. Before arrival, I hadn't looked into the fact that the train station is only a few minute walk away. No real regrets from renting a car I suppose, but we always took the train when we were going into Sydney. Much easier, cheaper (when considering parking in Sydney) and perhaps only a few minutes longer for the trip itself.
I mentioned Northies earlier, which is a very large pub on the lowest floor. I never heard it during the day, but we stayed on a weekend and it music was extremely loud and transferred to our room since we were right above it. Fortunately, they turn it off either right at midnight and both evenings we had barely returned to our room, so it didn't really affect us. With that in mind, I won't let it affect the rating, but anyone looking to stay here should keep that in mind and enquire with the hotel about it. I can't speak to weeknights.
There's also a small gym available and a pool - though it was under maintenance when we stayed (and it was only Spring).
Overall, a really pleasant stay. From the sounds of it, they may be facing more competition with the area increasingly becoming more popular lots of construction taking place. Regardless, a good choice so long as you don't plan on going to bed before midnight on weekends. read more
