In my part of the country, the ABC is the Alcohol Beverage Control and their stores are where you buy spirits. So I was a little surprised when I walked in to the ABC Warehouse in Portage to find... appliances. Washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, electronics and audio/video. Wall to wall to wall to wall. Delivery--is extremely frustrating. Driver damaged our washer. So we waited another week, added a second delivery day. Your given a 5 hour window. So both days were spent waisted at home waiting. They call and say they are 30 minutes away, and show up almost an hour later (both delivery days). They are crazy quick and seem careless (though nothing was damaged while we watched) with items upon unloading. Sales-- can be ok depending on who decides to stalk you. We saw a stackable washer/dryer unit in the ABC warehouse ad we thought would work. We purchased the unit and it was delivered the next day. That is when everything went down hill. I am 76 and have had 3 heart attacks so I don't try to move to much, especially heavy items. Delivery guy did not like that he had to pull the old unit out of its place, not easy. Once he got the old one out, He then set the new one in the bathroom doorway, I said my wife wanted to clean the spot it was to go in. He mumbled something and started connecting the electric cord. Blocking her from cleaning. I started connecting the dryer vent pipe. I got the bottom connected and was working on connecting it to the unit. Delivery guy said I was suppose to have it connected before they got there. I said; "How would I do that when the new unit wasn't delivered yet?" Got told I should have pulled it out and connected the bottom part. Told him I was working on connecting the dryer vent. He got mad and left. Washer/dryer was still sitting in the bathroom doorway. Inoperable and not connected fully. I called ABC and they sent another service person, 1 hour wait, and then we found out the first crew knocked the support springs off of the washer tub. Second guy got it working and the springs rehung. Never Never Never go for ABC installation. Hopefully the ABC installer is now looking for a new job because he really sucks at installations. It took an hour to repair the damage the first guy did and get the washer/dryer in place. Oh Yeah, They left cardboard and Styrofoam all over my driveway and lawn. Second guy was great. We wanted a new refrigerator. It had to fit the dimensions of our 45 yr old condo kitchen. It was not an expensive model. We did some research, looked on-line at various appliances stores stock then began going to locally owned and national brand stores. We looked at one fridge at ABC Warehouse and returned 4 or 5 times to look at, measure, and compare with others. Cory LaFountain was our salesperson and he was part of the reason we bought that fridge. He listened to what we needed, showed us what was in-stock and what was coming in in the next day or two. He was absolutely low-key, no pressure of any sort, exactly what we needed. We've only had the refrigerator 4 days but are very pleased so far. We highly recommend Cory! read more

Me and My Son went to the ABC Warehouse on S. Westenedge in Portage, Michigan. I picked out the washer I wanted and was talking to the salesman Rick Gates. We were just having a general conversation, next thing I knew he was talking to me in a sexual way about getting together with me for a good time after he got off work that night. He made sure to put his cell # on the card in hopes I would call him that evening, which I never planned on calling him regardless. Washer was delivered saturday, a week ago. Hooked it up and no water was going into washer so I called back to speak with Rick gates about getting their service guy to come look at washer. During the conversation he proceeded with more sexual conversation with me and wanted to come by my place to do a personal service call, then said he would show me how a big black guy could please a woman. Told him I was not interested and he continued to the sexual talk with me. I felt very scared and uncomfortable, and worried that he would show up at my house cause he has my address now because of paperwork and now has my personal cell phone number too. I spoke with manager in person and reported this sexual harassment and the salesman was suspended. I am not sure for how long he is suspended but any single women that want to go there for anything, it is not advisable to go alone, especially if this salesman is back in the store. I think enough was said, I m sure you get what I m saying. But i am gonna get restraining order on him for my own safety. I do not recommend single ladies shopping alone here. Ent in looking for a deep freezer found one I liked in less then 5 mins. 10 mins later I was checked out in my truck and pulling out the driveway. Sales representative was friendly not pushy. I've always had good experiences here, and the prices are right. Recently I had a problem with a refrigerator (manufacturer issue that has nothing to do with ABC Warehouse) that I bought from there with an extended warranty, and the manager Jim went way beyond what he needed to do to make it right. What a hassle! I have been to other ABC Warehouses before, but the salesmen here are super high pressure, even compared to other locations. I went in here and we had trouble finding what we were looking for... so a salesman showed us where they were and explained a bit about the different ones they had in stock. That was fine. My spouse said, "okay, well we'll just spend some time looking at these..." Salesguy did not take the hint and back off so we could chat about it alone. He hovered. Ooo, I hate that. The items ended up being about $100 more than we wanted to spend and we decided we didn't really need one after all. So as we were about to leave, salesguy latched on. I wondered if he had mistaken our complete disinterest for negotiation. We kept trying to leave and he kept trying to haggle."We REALLY have to go." Finally, in irritation, I just started walking for the exit. This guy was holding us up, it was late, and I wanted to check out a couple more stores before they closed. I heard him add, "What if I throw in a free water bottle...?" in a desperate whine. Plus one star because of the fact that I typically like this chain of store and what they carry. Plus another star because you can indeed talk down the price here, which is great if you come in knowing what you want and what price is fair to pay for it. Minus three stars for the obnoxious salesmen. I have no problem with salesmen who are trying to do their job, but there needs to be some sort of balance. ABC Warehouse really came through for me. I bought a refrigerator through the online store. When it arrived, it was too deep for my galley kitchen. I thought I'd be stuck with it, but the team at ABC Warehouse in Portage -- especially the manager, Matt -- saved the day. I'll never come back! I've bout 3 big screen tv's through them.... even though the first one stopped working a few months after my Waranty ended. it wasn't a common brand so I didn't blame them. I came back bought a 55inch and then less than a year later a 65inch. Every time I go they practically shove that insurance down my throat! I don't know if it's to add money to the sale for commission, or they get some type of bonus for people to get it. I got it for all my TVs. last week I barley touched my 55in tv with my elbow, on those flimsy feet it comes on, and it tipped over cracking the screen. I called, and was told the insurance doesn't cover damages. When I revealed my shock I was told,"if we covered accidenta damage, people would just break their TVs." I don't know why, if their tv worked why bother going through this? Also thanks for calling your customers con artists! Besides I would say that most insurance is specifically for damages. Either they are selling a bunch of defective equipment that you have to buy an extended warranty for , or they're a bunch of crooks looking to get over on people for a few dollars! I'm now with a $500 pos that I've had for maybe a year, probably less! I've purchased about 6 things from them all together,, I will never go back. Either will my family, who has also purchased many items from there!
