As I age, and my janked up knee worsens, and the City puts up barriers for people with mobility issues, I can't always get to my preferred thinking spots in the City's lovely parks. This is a very good substitute with easy parking. We had our wedding reception in Golden Gate Park when we were young and broke. I was pressured by time and money as the landscapers were almost done and I was way over my budget, and had been experiencing conflicting advice from Claude, Chat and Gemini. After grilling multiple other garden centers near me, I remembered Flora Grubb, drove across the bridge and rushed to the counter to beg for help. Elena laughed, and like a true medical professional they reviewed every symptom, asked detailed questions about conditions and worked their diagnostic skills, taking me through the magical property introducing me to things I had never considered and double checking the minutiae of size and conditions whenever I expressed doubt. After my first round I found Andee who again offered the same generosity in solving another mystery. The beauty of the plants and the uplifting spirit of both these women were nothing short of healing. As I was ringing out for the second time, I asked about my gardenia and Flora, herself started to laugh - "oh, she won't like it here" she said. When I explained that I wanted to bring a bit of my grandmother into my garden, she smiled and came up with a plan to help me provide the best conditions. I left with a car full of plants, inhaling the lovely smells of the soil and feeling like I had spent the day at a meditation retreat. We are so lucky to have a place like Flora Grubb in the Bay. As the world gets crazier, it is a comfort to know a sanctuary is waiting in Bayview.

It's on 24th street across from the Noe Valley town square, next to the J line. The owner, Santiago, who studied interior design, provides many unique and beautiful planters and plants that you won't usually see at other plant shops. Planters are priced fair for being quality, unique pieces on their own. Many are designed and painted by artists. Other things they sell include lighting, ceramics, candles, blankets, and plant care. It's always a pleasure to browse their rotating selection! The staff are awesome (shout out to Jonathan and Madeline!). Bonsify also has what is probably the most educational and grower advocacy based YouTube channel. If you are looking for trees and shrubs to grow bonsai with there is simply no better outfit to work with than Bonsify. Eric will get you set up with trees, lessons and get you introduced into the local bonsai community like no one else. His prices are fair considering the quality of plants he sells not to mention the enormous amount of support and help he offers personally and through his YouTube channel. (Turned out I had the right key, but the ancient lock was broken). I got a recommendation to use Cole and called them. I had to leave a message and Marc called me back, as promised on the greeting, within the hour. He was wonderful and patiently listened to my sad tale of desperation and woe. Just the calming response I needed. I won't detail all of the back and forth I subjected him to. I will just say he was extremely responsive and helpful and scheduled an appt for me that worked with my schedule. It turns out that I didn't need to use Marc's services - I was able to get in and replace the deadbolt without the need for a locksmith. HOWEVER - if I ever need the services of a locksmith, Marc with Cole Hardware will be my first call.... without hesitation.

I asked about the fitment regarding a pipe and he answered "I don't know what that means" so I explained to him again but with more detail, he responded "I don't know what you're talking about, do you need help with sales?" I responded "yes" and he paged one of his colleagues. I then went back to the sales floor with no results, no one came and the same employee just keeps walking past me when I approached him. Subsequently, i witnessed a older gentleman tried to follow him to ask him a question but kept on getting ignored. I heard him say "look I just have 1 question please!" At this point I knew I wasn't going to get any help and went back in line to pay for my item. subsequently, That same older gentleman was asking Christian for the owners email so he can make a compliant and in the isles ANOTHER customer was yelling "I need a manager or Supervisor please!" I then approached the cashier and informed Christian that no one came to help and I'll just take a chance on a pipe I picked out. He casually shrugged his shoulders and said "will that be all today" then,I paid and left. I don't know what happened that particular day. There was 3 staff members i noticed. 1 cashier, 1 sales floor and 1 person where the key section is. The store wasn't incredibly busy or anything. Maybe 10-12 people in the store. Because of this experience I will NOT be coming back here again. I live in the area and I want to support local bussiness and dont mind paying a few dollars more. I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. Please do better guys.
