I've always said that if you're going to buy a product or service, you'll be best served to buy…read morefrom a company that is purpose and values-driven. Buy from a business who believes that profit is the result, not the reason. I've known Adam Jones for just over five years now. He is a conscientious business owner who believes that if you're going to pay for new windows and doors, have them installed, they should be leakproof for a lifetime. Having known Adam for as long as I have I can attest to his efforts to build a company that stands behind their brand promise - a promise I simply don't see very often. There is no shortage of work for businesses like Adam's in Calgary and it would be easy for him to be transactionally focused - do whatever it takes to get the business, at any cost, and move on to the next customer. However, that's not what Adam believes. In fact, I've seen him say no to business. "If can't do it right, then we won't do it at all." I think the part about Adam that really stands out is that he's a continuous learner about business and he cares deeply about the social and environmental impact of his company's actions. I've witnessed Adam in peer advisory groups, sharing knowledge and encouraging other business owners to stand for principals and values... profit takes care of itself. While I have not yet had the need to purchase his services, I would not hesitate to seek his advice and buy from him in the future. If you have any questions, just ask.

You don't want to know what I used the squirrels for. Having located a neighbour whose lights were on, I knocked, borrowed a phone and contacted these folks. The gent that answered said he would be about 30 minutes and he was about that long. I pointed him to the lock, explained what had happened and he got to work. He wasn't exactly friendly but got the work done. After getting me in, he was paid and I was off frolicking in the house and talking to the cat. It's only then that I decided I would start drinking. All in all I'm happy with the efficiency though I think the driver should try smiling once in a while. Maybe he just needs to talk with a cat.

It was rush hour and very busy and a long drive to get a key but we were very pleased that they were going to be able to cut it. When we got there they informed us that can't do the key we needed. We said that we had driven from Airdrie and all we got was a shrug shoulder, as if to say, so what? No apology - no nothing. Now that's what we call "Really Lousy Service". Everyone makes mistakes, but sometimes, an apology goes a long way. Maybe a lesson that Aboe staff should learn. if we could give them a minus star, we would. PS: They should read their reviews. They are not very good.

The installer's advise was very much appreciated. The installer was on time (in fact, early), quick, efficient and cleaned up his work area taking away our old door and parts. It took persistant calling for several days to finally get someone to take my call. I always got "they're in a meeting". I was told there would be a service call charge, and that perhaps I needed a new remote. The appointment was booked for the afternoon, but my doorbell rang at 11am, with the agent stating I was wrong. However, I never ever book any appointment to my home before 12 noon, due to shift work. I learned an expensive lesson on why my door didn't open using the remote. The agent never left me an invoice and said I would be emailed one. One never arrived. My bill however did for close to $250. I phoned the company and again took several days before I could speak to someone. I was told I would receive a call around 4:30pm. I waited for that call. It never came. finally I got an email saying it was a service charge and vehicle/supply charge. I never received a new remote as one was not needed and no supplies were needed. My garage door was only 1 year old. An average price for a service call is around $80. I will be taking it up with my credit card company. The service is slow, poor communication and terrible customer service. I see consistently in reviews that communication is bad for years. Nothing has improved many months later.

While there, I asked about astragals. Another locksmith had already quoted me on one but had failed to deliver and I was still waiting after 5 weeks. Affordable was very helpful and able to deliver immediately, without any up-selling. In the end, they installed within 24-hours at 50% less than the person originally hired for the job (who had up-sold, I now realize because of Affordable's honest service). Two downsides: They didn't clean our stoop after the install, leaving metal shavings for us to clean. They also close at 5 on weekdays, so for us 9-to-5ers, weekday service is more difficult. Neither of these downsides would keep me away, though. I'll return to Affordable without hesitation for all of my security needs.
