The kids are outside playing in the dirt, literally finding worms, reading stories, exploring, playing with their friends and learning how to figure things out for themselves. I can tell my son has learned SO much here. I even see it at home in the way he takes initiative, problem solves and practices being a little leader. Most importantly, he LOVES going to school. We are moving and honestly one of the hardest parts has been saying goodbye to The Red School. We've been interviewing other schools and it has only made me confirm how special this place is. Since Cristina took over as the director (1-2years ago), I have seen an improvement with the staff, security, cleanliness, and curriculum. She also implemented the online Kinderlime app that allows parents to view pictures of their kids throughout the day, eat/sleep/potty schedule, activities and will message you with important info about your child or about what is going on with the center. She is seen everywhere around the center making sure everything is ran smoothly, fixing things, cutting branches that interfere with the playground area, plunging a toilet like today, volunteering with parents on a weekend to improve the daycare, fundraising for a new playground, working on stricter security measures, etc. This woman unstoppable. A force to be reckoned with. My daughter had Lidia as an infant (treated my daughter like her own, but does not work there any longer), had Ms. Brenda / Ms. Taylor & Ms. Lilliana (My dream team) when she was 1-2yrs old. My daughter Loves these ladies, especially Ms. Taylor. She currently has Ms. Kammy, whom is the BEST for this age group. She is great with the kids. My daughter has learned so much in her classroom. The transition ended up being a lot smoother than I expected. He settled in really quickly, knows all of his teachers by name, and actually enjoys going to school every day. The teachers have been very patient, supportive, and involved with the kids. I also like that the classrooms are well staffed because the kids seem to get a lot of attention and support throughout the day. One thing I really appreciate is the communication with parents. They do a great job keeping families updated and they also have a lot of family activities and events at the school, which has been really nice. I've honestly been surprised by how much my son has learned already. It's been really nice seeing his confidence grow. The schedule has also worked really well for our family and made things easier with my work schedule too. Overall, I'm really happy we decided to go with Montessori instead of continuing with PUSD Head Start. So far it's been a great fit for our family.

In fact sometimes I feel like I am interrupting her fun time. The infant room and the toddler room have the most amazing and caring teachers. They are caring, attentive to all the children and really are there for them. They deserve all the praise in the world for what they do on a daily basis and for the joy that and knowledge that they have given to my daughter and I. Beware, Sketchy location!!…read more I had a very concerning experience with the assistant director, Lauren- due to what felt like discriminatory behavior, passive-aggressive communication, and an overall unwelcoming attitude during my visit and enrollment process at the KinderCare San Dimas location. During the tour, the assistant director mentioned that her own child was the only minority at the school and said that she preferred it that way. The comment came across as implying a preference for a more "white-washed" environment, which was extremely concerning and inappropriate in a childcare setting. I found this comment extremely concerning and inappropriate for someone working in a diverse childcare environment. It was a major red flag in a setting that should prioritize inclusion and respect for all families. Additionally, when I asked about the curriculum, she told me that the school does not have a set curriculum and that it "changes every day." As a parent, this response was concerning because it suggested there may not be a clear structure or consistent learning plan for the children. During the tour, she did NOT provide me with the application paperwork to move forward. I had to email her for almost two weeks just to receive the documents so I could apply for my child. Later, after getting in contact with the director, Roxanna Munoz, we scheduled a start date for my child. When I arrived on the first day at 7am, the assistant director had me standing OUTSIDE with her holding the door while discussing enrollment . After 5 minutes in the windy cold air, she said, "Oh, I suppose I'll let you in," with an irritated and dismissive tone. She expressed that I needed to fill out another part of the application- once I fill the documentation out... the director stopped responding to my emails for 2 weeks. It felt like I was left on my own, facing unnecessary obstacles that seemed designed to stop enrollment. It appeared that a portion of the application was withheld from me intentionally to delay or discourage enrollment. Because of this pattern of behavior and lack of communication, the situation raised serious concerns about professionalism and how families may be treated during enrollment. I strongly believe this location should be investigated to ensure all families are treated fairly and respectfully. I reported these concerns to higher management but was told that it was probably "perceived the wrong way". Additionally, stating "The director wasn't receiving your emails despite her responding to other emails two weeks prior". I'm sharing my experience so that other parents can be aware and make informed decisions when considering this location. Transparency and respectful treatment of families should always be a priority in a childcare environment--which, unfortunately, appears to be lacking at this location. The first thing that caught my eye was a few broken plastic French drains around the play area. When I brought this up to the owner, I was told that a rug had been placed over the open sections as the solution until a repair was made. The rugs seemed to be there for quite some time and the rugs unfortunately did not cover the open hole completely, a toddler's foot could easily get trapped. That answer did not sit well with me as a father, and it didn't appear to meet any reasonable safety standard for a space designed for young children. I also raised concerns about the security of the building perimeter. The school sits adjacent to a busy street and a shopping mall, a high-traffic environment that demands serious, proactive safety measures. I found no functional security locks on the exterior doors or gates to prevent unauthorized access to the premises beyond the front door which happened to also be a glass door with a wooden frame. Anyone could walk in from the back. Beyond those two major issues, several things throughout the tour felt rushed and improvised. One example that stood out: 4-inch drainage pipes on the roof being used as rain gutters. That is not a proper gutter system, and it raised real questions in my mind about whether the building is up to code and properly maintained overall. I respectfully raised all of these concerns during the tour and asked about their timeline for repairs and enrollment availability. The owner did not appear to appreciate the feedback, and despite saying they would follow up, she never did. That silence told me everything I needed to know. I chose not to enroll my daughter here. No amount of warm smiles can substitute for a structurally sound, secure environment for our littlest ones. I hope these issues are addressed for the sake of the children already attending, but I would encourage other parents to do a very thorough walkthrough and ask the hard questions before signing anything.
