Poor lighting somehow makes the place feel unsafe. But the customer service is great. The store prides itself for giving you what others can't. First store in the city to offer the Peach Ciroc. We bought two Petit Syrahs. We opened the Stags Leap at home. The cork was rotting and falling apart. The wine had turned. We recorked it & took it back for a refund the next day & has to wait while the help engaged in a twenty minute conversation with the owner in a foreign language and who at first refused to refund the money but then reconsidered when he was told the word would get out to all friends. This place is dangerous for your wallet because there are way too many pretty things to buy! I've gone there twice now. On my first visit, I spent hours in there with my friend and neighbor. We were nearly there until closing time on a Sunday. We left with bags of food, alcohol, and with memberships that we signed up for with cashier Lucy's help. The second time I went, I mainly went to buy a gift card for the same friend and neighbor who accompanied me before as it was her birthday. I brought a companion, and well, we also wound up buying more food and alcohol. Admittedly this store has more than that, having furniture and what not, but the food and alcohol are what gets you. There is so much variety. You will find obscure products here, like Vegemite for the Aussies or more common stuff like different flavors of pocky for those loving Asian goodies. Heck, I found madeleines imported from France, which I repeatedly get told aren't dry like the American ones, and after having them, I must concur.
