There was once a 5-year-old little girl. She was a sweet, quirky thing, well-behaved and sensitive,…read moreactive and adventurous. She loved lizards, bugs, horses, and drawing more than anything. Her mom and dad were so excited for this little girl to start school, to see all she'd learn, and to learn all she'd become. However, the hopes and dreams these parents had for their little girl would not come to pass. After a short time in kindergarten, the little girl started getting poor conduct grades for "not paying attention. The school set up the first conference and began to tell the parents how wrong their little girl was. The girl began coming home upset, stressed out, scared to go back, and claiming that her teacher hates her. The parents tried ADHD meds for the child. In 6 months, the little girl was on 4 different medicines. Upon taking the first dose, she was listless, glassy-eyed, and had sobbing episodes. She didn't enjoy the critters and the horses and the drawing. The smiles went away. And she did no better in school. This precious little girl is Emma, and she is mine. In December 2014, we started at ABC Montessori. Their love for children, interest in fostering the individuality of the children, and in the development of the child's brain are immediately evident. The passion they have for the Montessori method is inspiring. They have restored our daughter's motivation and joy for learning. Today, our daughter seeks answers. She explores. She is respectful. And she absolutely loves her school. There, she is a helper, a friend, a great student, loved and praised by her teachers, and extremely well-behaved. She sits down to her work daily and focuses on what needs to be done. She completes book reports and science fair projects. She knows things about culture and history. She reads "chapter books" and she has straight A's!! She laughs and plays and does not want to be picked up at the end of the day. I have my little girl back!! For all of this I am thankful for the Montessori method. But even more so, I am eternally grateful for the careful, thoughtful planning, attention, and intuition of the ABC Montessori staff, and for their concern and care for the whole child. My daughter WILL be successful. In fact, she already is!

I was told a lie which I fell for and…read morepaid a higher amount than my previous childcare from the beginning that they were installing cameras and that the administrative staff could see recordings of and not the parents. I had a few issues that I addressed while there. My daughter came home with a soaked pull-up. I mean completely soaked as if she sat in a pool of urine all day and was never changed. She ended up with a horrible diaper rash from it. Another situation which is the one that ended her childcare was when she came home with two fingers burned and blistered. Keep in mind she was at daycare a full day on both days. When addressed I was asked did I have a flat iron. Smh I have a recording showing I didn't use one myself when I left home the day before and the day off. Both situations they advised that they would investigate and made excuses for. Both times there was an excuse, apology and promise nothing else would happen. Now granted the first incident they provided a week free. When there was an error with my payment taking the amount twice and when my child kept getting sick every other week because her classmates stayed sick they provide a free week. Oooh let's not forget when they sent her home with feces all up her back and coming out of her pull-up. I had to toss out her entire car seat as I didn't catch it when she got into the car. Yet we only drove straight up the street to the store from childcare that day. I've offered to assist with assisting with observation and operational outlines of better instructions of care as that's what I'd do for a living. I tried giving the benefit of the doubt as everywhere childcare has been unacceptable. But my three year old partially non verbal (preemie) came home with burned fingers was my last straw. I called bright from the start in which based off the convo I KNEW she could not go back. Now it has placed me in a bind with work and childcare as this was another inconvenience. But because they don't know how she was burned I have a fear now of her going to child care because NOBODY could tell me what happened NOR did the cameras record during class hours. We both reported to bright from the start what happened. Deep down I'm disgusted. As they have a few gems at the facility. But cover up a lot of what happens. To include not paying attention to the children when coming out of the bathroom naked or allowing them to walk around with undies on. How do I know because I reported it before and provided an extra pair of my daughters pants because a child didn't have on any and the teacher thought it was oAt this point she is no longer in childcare and has not returned since we noticed the finger burns.

For the 4th grade I moved my daughter to a school of the arts because I wanted her to experience a different learning curriculum. No biggie we just thought a change would be nice for a year. We decided to go back to CCS and I enrolled her in the early summer before the 5th grade, paid all of the fees associated with registration etc. I was told that she would need to be tested for the 5th grade which didnt seem to be a problem for me either. I got a call from the school to inform me that my daughter would need to repeat the 4th grade because her "reading comprehension" was below average. I was shocked and appalled to say the least. She was tested at two other schools, and neither school indicated that she was below average in anything, to my surprise she was above average and accepted to both learning institutions. I asked CCS to please allow her the summer to tutor and freshen her skillset and please at least re test her for placement after the summer. They agreed to a re test however when she tested again they rushed her through the exam and told her she did not have time to complete everything because this was a "re-test". After short stopping her test, they again insisted that she repeat the 4th grade. I decided that repeating a grade at a school would not be a good idea at a school of her peers since she had been with most of those kids since she was 2. It would have been an emotional setback for her. I also did not agree with them telling me that her alleged "reading comprehension" deficiency was because she did not attend CCS for the 4th grade. The basically blamed it on her 4th grade teacher at her new school. UNBELIEVABLE! I am no teacher but reading comprehension starts way before the 4th grade and she had been at CCS since she was 2. She learned to read at CCS, so I believe if she was deficient it was because of them- they are the ones who taught her to read and should have been paying to her comprehension of what she was reading. She is enrolled at another Christian private school this year and was placed in the 5th grade as she belongs and is doing exemplary. She is reading at a 6th grade level and doesn't seem to have a problem with the A beka Curriculum that CCS swore to me would be "so hard for her" Bottom line, CCS was insistent that she repeat the 4th grade as a matter of finance rather than the best interest of the student. I strongly feel that the only way she would be admitted in to the 5th grade at the school is if she completed the 4th grade there, and because I took her out for her 4th grade year they needed to get paid for that year we took off from CCS. She is happy and excelling at her new Christian school and I am glad I am not paying tuition to this school. They should be ashamed. NOT_SO_CHRISTIAN_LIKE

Our experience at Theami Montessori school has been truly incredible! My 4-year-old loves going to…read moreschool every day. The hands-on activities and interactive learning environment keep him engaged and excited about discovering new things. Every time we walk outside, I am constantly getting questions about the sky, the moon, leaves, different animals, just anything he sees and reads. He is constantly curious and has so many questions. As a second-year student, I've seen such growth in his independence, he picks out his own clothes, makes his bed, cleans up after himself including sweeping and vacuuming if necessary. Mrs. Shahnaj is incredibly attentive and is always encouraging my child to explore at their own pace. The mixed-age classroom is wonderful for helping him develop social skills, and he is learning to communicate and cooperate with children of all ages. My son started when he was 3 and immediately Mrs. Shahnaj noticed areas he needed to improve on with his social and emotional development and started to work on correcting it. She also let me know things I can work on to improve his emotional development at home and now I can truly see a difference. We are still working on some things but there have been major changes. Montessori school operates differently than public school, which I love. The children go at their own pace and each child focuses on what they need to develop. Each child is working on different things, but every child is still exposed to all areas. My son has learned so much in his year and a half he has been there. He has developed skills I know he will use for the rest of his life. I couldn't be more pleased with the development my child has experienced during his time at Theami. It's been a wonderful experience, and I'm excited to see how he continues to thrive in this supportive, enriching environment!
