I was disappointed to find out Don retired and sold the business. He was really reasonable and I have been taking our family's car to his shop for years. The new owner quoted my Mom's car for around $3000 with upholstery for leather seat, and easy fix paint job for Mercedes ML350. Those were paid with insurance prices. We were going to pay cash only. He stated the amount would still be the same. We had worst damages from before, and the most we paid was around $400-$600 for bodywork. The 2 small paint chips was fix with Mercedes touch up paint. and the scratches were removed with turtle wax. It took about an hr for my friend who is a mechanic to fix it for $50 Labor. 3 stars because I know they do great work. I'd still recommend this shop if you use insurance to pay for your damages. Don builded a great reputation along with his team. The shop was also approved by insurance companies a long time ago. Thanks Don for your great service all these years. read more

I had been in an (almost hit-and-run) accident at a parking lot in Santa Barbara that left the left side of my rear bumper with a large dent. Fortunately, some good Samaritan saw the whole incident and talked the person who hit my car into growing a conscience and calling the cops. The insurance company of the person who hit me estimated the damages to be at $703 to replace my bumper entirely. Now, I had been putting off taking my car to a body shop for an estimate almost two months now, for fear of knowing how much more I'll have to pay out of pocket since insurance adjusters almost always underquote you. I finally gathered up the courage to take my car here on Monday afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised. Don quoted me $50 less than the insurance company paid for the damages, even before he found out that they were paying to get my car fixed. I felt comfortable when he assured me that he's gonna get an authentic Nissan bumper and not one of those aftermarket parts that you can get for cheaper. I felt so comfortable with him and his wife Le, that I didn't bother going anywhere else for another quote. I was very happy with the price they quoted me anyway. Fast forward Tuesday afternoon, I get a call from Don saying the work is done and my car is ready for pickup. Le promised me that she would bring the price down to $600 if I paid in cash, which I did. I ended up keeping $100 in my pocket. I'm glad to have encountered such honest business people and would gladly recommend this place to anyone close to me. I'm happy that I chose this place to get my bumper replaced, and will definitely be coming back here if I ever need to again, but I hope not. read more

Methinks if you need your car repaired, look elsewhere. Sometime in March the rear driver side of my car got hit. I received an estimate from the other person's insurance and was told to take my car to a body shop of my choice. I chose ABC because they had a 5 star rating, and the shop is close to both my jobs. I called Friday 4/8 and spoke to the owner who told me I could drop off my car any day the following week. I dropped my car off to be repaired on 4/12/16. I provided ABC with an estimate from the insurance company of the person who hit me. Not even an hour later, I get a call from the receptionist telling me that the owner does not want to deal with my car and to come pick it up. Apparently ABC did their own estimate and it was almost $1500 more than the original estimate I was given. I told them to just call the insurance company and they will pay whatever the difference is, but I was told no that the owner just doesn't want to deal with it. I appreciated the receptionist who was really honest and friendly, but I think this is just bad business. I even called the insurance company and they said they have NEVER heard of a company flat out refusing to do business before. I can't obviously comment on the work they do, but I would be careful taking your car here. read more

My husband had a minor accident and had to take his Xterra in for some TLC. His family has had a great body shop in the Glendale CA area for 50 years and he knows the business and customer service very well. He was hesitant to get his car repaired anywhere else, but since moving to Las Vegas he had to seek help locally. I was HIGHLY recommended to check out ABC Auto Body after I had a hit-and-run incident on the passenger door of my Jeep. I don't know a lot about cars and am always worried I'll get taken advantage of. They are AMAZING here! A very nice gentleman came out, looked at my car door that was TAPED SHUT with packing tape. Literally, the car door wouldn't shut and it was open and taped leaving about 4" of open door. He helped take all the tape off, used his magic tools and was able to shut the door for me. This was the biggest relief. I can't afford a new door right now, but, he was so pleasant and helpful in getting it shut so I can still drive to work. Unreal!!! I went in to get a quote for my bumper. I nearly ripped it off after I pulled in too far into my parking spot, then forgot I was parked on top of it a couple days later, when some friends and I jumped back in it to go grab some food. I've done it several times in the past, but i guess having extra weight in the car was what really messed things up this time. I'd just had it detailed too, ugh. All the little plastic tabs on both sides popped loose, and a few of the little circles that the screws go through were torn. So the front end of my car looked like it "sprouted wings" next to my front tires, as both sides of my bumper popped out. It was still pretty firmly attached all along the middle part though. I was really worried that this was going to be an expensive fix. The guys at ABC recommended to replace the whole bumper since the parts that mattered most were torn. I explained I needed it just to "look normal" for now as I'm in the middle of applying for a job that requires me to use my own vehicle and they want pics of the car. I really can't afford a proper fix right now. Instead of insisting on a huge repair, the guy at the desk got one of the guys (I wish I'd gotten his name) to come over and he made it look like nothing had ever happened, in well under 10 mins!!! Do you know how long I'd spend pushing and tugging on each side trying to get those damn tabs back in?!?! I guess that's why they're the pros, and I'm more suited behind a desk, haha. I was warned if I happened to hit anything, it'd probably fall right off, but its suiting my needs just fine, for now. Price? Too low for me to put here, not sure the owner would want people lined up around the block for pro bono repairs, hahaha. I'm sure he knew it was a quick fix, and so he hooked up the best deal in the history of, ever! These guys are a rare breed, especially in that industry! I will tell you this, they earned a customer FOR LIFE, and I'll ALWAYS tell my friends and family to go there and ONLY there, if they need their car fixed. So happy right now! He gave us an estimate no where near what the other shop tried to charge us for and even drew up an estimate for what we'd pay if my boyfriend did the work himself. I chose ABC Auto Body because of all the great reviews posted here. Unfortunately, their customer service and quality of work was far below what I expected. My Scion X-B had been rear ended, causing damage to the rear lift gate (door) and rear bumper cover. Don Hess, the owner, gave me an estimate that was comparable to other body shops I visited, but I chose his shop over the others because of his glowing reviews. That was a mistake. The work entailed smoothing out dents on the rear lift gate, replacing the rear bumper cover, and painting both the bumper cover and the lift gate to match the pre-existing paint color on the car. Seemed simple enough. They finished the work on 08/12/2015. When I went to pick the car up I immediately saw several problems with their work. First of all, the paint color on the lift gate and bumper cover did not match the color on the rest of the car. They painted it too dark. Secondly, there was a ripple in the paint on the bumper cover that had to be buffed out. In addition, the handle on the rear lift gate was very loose. It was not loose when I brought it in. They had to take the lift gate apart and remove the handle in order to tighten it, while I waited, The big problem that remained was the color mismatch. They had painted the rear lift gate and rear bumper cover too dark. I asked his mechanic, Jeff, about it. He insisted that this was the best they could do without blending the new paint into the old paint on the rear quarter panels. My insurance company wouldn't pay for "blending:, so they didn't do it. I reluctantly accepted his explanation, but took my car to a few body shops afterwards for a second opinion. They all told me that it was a "color problem", not a "blending problem". They said the color of the "new paint" on the lift gate and rear bumper cover should have been much closer to the color of the "old paint" on the rest of the car. They said any slight difference in color should not be visible to an "untrained eye". The color difference on my car is very obvious. It looks like a "two tone" car now. One of the body shops told me they would not put out work like that. They all told me that the lift gate and bumper cover needed to be repainted. I posted some photos below so you can see what I'm talking about. I went back to Don Hess about a month later, in September 2015, and asked him to repaint the rear lift gate and bumper cover. He agreed that the color match was terrible and told me he would "fix it", but wanted me to wait until January 2016 (4 months later). I brought my car back to him in February 2016, and asked him how he was going to fix it. He told me he would lighten the color on the ends of the bumper, where it comes up against the rear quarter panels, but refused to repaint the rear lift gate which is also painted the wrong color. When I pressed him on this issue, he became rude and sarcastic. I told Don I would have nothing more to do with him, and would be posting a review of my experience online. This is the worst customer service I have ever received in over 40 years of car ownership, and that's saying a lot. I was shocked by how poorly I was treated, especially considering the glowing reviews he received here on Yelp. How he got all of those glowing reviews is a mystery to me. He did sloppy work on my car, and treated me in an unprofessional manner. Based on all of the mistakes they made, it's obvious they put very little effort into making sure my car was done properly. The quality control was terrible. Don Hess may be capable of doing good work when he wants to, but he certainly didn't do a good job on my car. Based on my overall experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding this shop. read more

I had two issues...a very mean spirited person keyed the side of my car at the airport. Not just a scratch...a SCRATCH all the way down to the primer. The key marks were on the front panel, the passenger door and the back panel. I bumped into something a few months later and got a dent at the rear wheel well (same side). I've posted pictures of the before and after of the deepest of the key mark and the dent. BTW...the reason I went to ABC, is when I had a ding in my door, Don (the owner) referred me to a paint-less dent repair person so it would cost me less money. That referral did a great job for me, so when I really needed work, I remembered ABC Auto Body. I dropped the car off on Monday and it was finished on Wednesday. Absolutely beautiful work. My car looks brand new again...and it's 7 years old! As a local, I am HIGHLY recommending the work of ABC Auto Body. They did a fabulous job AND they were very reasonable. read more

I really hate writing reviews like this! I was really hoping for a great experience. This shop came with glowing reviews from Yelp and my brother-in-law who is very hard to please. I was recently rear ended and the other person's insurance was taking care of the repairs and rental car. The experience started out good. Last Wednesday, I came in for an estimate for a repair on my rear bumper. They told me it would be $567 and I told them I had to contact the insurance to make sure we were all good. I told the insurance company that I would drop the car off on Monday morning and was told that an estimator from the insurance company would go out to the shop to quote the job. I called ABC back and set up a drop off for Monday morning and told them that the estimator would stop by sometime that day. Monday morning rolls around and I am there at 8:00 sharp when they open. The front door is open and no one is inside but there is a guy working in the garage who gives me 2 pieces of paper to fill out, 1) Authorization to let ABC do work & 2) Contact information and a box where I checked that insurance would be paying for the repair. I fill everything out and let the guy know I left my keys with the paperwork. He says all good and I leave. Later that day, I call to see if the estimator had come and the lady at ABC tells me we have a problem. Apparently their people did not read the paperwork and were near complete with the repair by the time the estimator got there so now I have to pay them to get my car. I said ok, let me talk to the insurance. I talk it over with my insurance and they say it should be fine, they are waiting for the report from the estimator but the amount seemed ok and there shouldn't be a problem. I asked if they could release the payment directly to the shop and they said OK. So, I call ABC back with the good news that they will receive payment from State Farm for the repairs, and the lady says "Great, as soon as we get the check we will release the car." I say what does that mean and she says they won't release the car unless they get paid in full. I say so you want me to come out of pocket for something that was not my fault. She says it's "a law" that they can't release the car. I inform her that this problem was all cause by their people and she said it was because I signed the authorization for them to work on my car. I said you would have needed that paper either way, she agreed. I said, "Didn't I also signed a paper that said insurance would be paying for the repair?" She said "Yes" but still wasn't budging. She said they just needed to get paid. I asked how this is normally handled, and she says "well normally the estimator could cut the check at the inspection but in this case it was too late because they had already done the repairs". Again not my fault because they didn't read their paperwork or make notes on the repair, but still no budge. So I said let me see if the insurance can send the estimator out again to cut a check. Talk to the insurance and ask if they can send the estimator out again with a check and they say nope, it doesn't work that way. In addition, insurance informs me that the rental car that I was given would only be covered until the repairs were done, which would be the next day - meaning I would be without a car for at least a week if the shop had to wait for a check to arrive. Luckily everyone involved in the initial accident had State Farm insurance so at this point I have to get my personal agent involved to see who is telling the truth on what because I don't believe this is at all my problem and my car is being held hostage for an accident and repair that wasn't even my fault. So after a few more phone calls, my agent calls me and says they told the shop a check would be cut, and it would be sent to them but... no budge. Finally the agent asks if it's ok for me to front the charge to get my car and I will be reimbursed promptly for the full cost of the repair. At this point, I have no recourse. I figure I'll charge it and pay the credit card with the check before I get the bill. The next day (today) I head over to pick up the car. The lady asks if I got everything squared away with my insurance, like she even really cared. "Yeah," I responded, "we settled that I have to come out of pocket for your mistake." She asks "Debit or credit." I say credit and hand over the card and of course "We don't take AMEX". So my only other card is my debit card so now I'm out almost $600 waiting for a check from the insurance all because this shop can't read their own paperwork, and won't own up to their own mistakes. The only reason for the 2nd star was because it looks like they washed the car inside and out. Yay. read more

Well I am one very happy customer. I got a pretty big dent on my 2012 Honda Odyssey which I didn't even own for a month! Still had paper plates :( and I shopped around 6 other shops. What lead me to choose ABC was definitely Don, a very down-to-earth, trust worthy employee and guess what? He's the owner and has over 40+ years of experience. He gave me a quote and told me what work would be done and let me know it would be completed in 1 day for a very enticing price. I scheduled to take it in on Friday (today) only to find out that by agreeing to have it done Friday, he had overbooked his workload. His wife (front desk and one who normally books appointments) looked nervous and a little upset but Don reassured me it would be done. Well he is indeed a man of his word.
