Robert was very responsive, kind, and professional. He seemed to really care about my turtle's needs and the questions I had. The person he sent to help me, Desiree, was wonderful to work with and did an amazing job! I highly recommend ABC Aquatic, especially if you want a great attitude along with the excellent service. read more

So far so good. We've had trouble with our fish tank water levels for months so ABC Aquatics came out to assess the situation. After the initial visit and some conversation via text, they figured out that our water alkalinity is too low, dropping the pH levels and leading to the tank not cycling properly. They gave tips on how to remedy this and we should be on the way to better water levels! read more

I hired ABC Aquatic while I was out of the country for four months, and I honestly could not be happier with their service. I gave them a key to my house so they could come by every three weeks to maintain my aquarium, which requires a lot of trust, and they handled everything professionally and responsibly. Not only did they take excellent care of my fish, but they actually made the aquarium look better than it ever had before. The water quality, the setup, and the overall appearance were noticeably improved each time. When I returned home, all of my fish were healthy, active, and clearly well cared for. It gave me real peace of mind knowing my aquarium was in such good hands while I was away. I highly recommend ABC Aquatic to anyone looking for reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy aquarium maintenance. Outstanding service from start to finish. read more

This is one of those "if I could give them 10 stars, I would!" reviews These people are amazing! A little background: I was ditched with an established tank by a neighbor who promised to teach me everything, & was basically never to be heard from again once the tank was moved in lol FFWD ~2 years and I realized I had been diligently changing water, but had never had my parameters checked (oh the panic that set in )!! Reached out to ABC Aquatic and it was so refreshing to have people answering my questions and chatting about my tank with as much enthusiasm as I have for my nano & my generally unpopular, condylactis gigantica! MothMoss came out and we had a great time checking out my set up, discussing options to help me automate water changes (to save my aching joints :)), and checking my parameters. I appreciated the precision with which MothMoss checked, and double checked, some of my numbers- since looking at the tanks all indicators were great; big happy anemone out, spawning clowns, mushrooms extended, feather dusters with crowns all out, etc, all while a couple of numbers were off the charts! Eek! That was exactly what I was afraid of, and was relieved to have MothMoss catch these things for me, provide me with a couple of (non drastic) ways to move forward, and we'll recheck in a couple of weeks to see how it's improving, or whether additional action is needed. It's a relief to have someone in my corner again, instead of reaching out to strangers on the internet for support lol There was no reefing snobbery about the size of my tank, equipment, or anything. They clearly love what they do, and it shows, which is refreshing to experience in this age of dwindling customer service. read more

I'm so pleased with the work of MothMoss at ABC on our turtle tank. Robert makes scheduling easy, and MossMoth enthusiastically involved my kids in the filter cleaning and tank maintenance, and made it fun. Now my daughter actually wants to do it! We'll be regulars. read more

Robert is awesome!! Over 2 years ago, I called ABC aquatics for help on Christmas Day, my young granddaughter's fish was ill. Robert was not available but he knew the importance of getting treatment for the sick fish. He referred us to Steve of Lucky Ocean aquarium. Robert's compassion, kind heart and pride of his work is the type of person who cares about his clients. I highly recommend ABC Aquatics for your precious aquatic care and maintenance. read more

I was hesitant to use another aquarium service based in San Francisco due to the distance, but after a local aquarium service gave me very poor advice and wasted a lot of my money I didn't have much to lose. I called ABC Aquatic and spoke with Robert. When I explained the algae problem I was having with my aquariums he was confident he could help. He also explained why the advice I had been given was problematic. I scheduled a service and Taylor came to clean and treat both of my aquariums. He told me that what I thought was hair algae was actually Bryopsis algae that was very difficult to get rid off without the right treatment. Taylor was professional, patient and answered all of my questions. It's only been a week and my tanks look better already. I'm glad I decided to give them a try. Now I have a reliable and knowledgeable aquarium service. I'm finally looking forward to getting coral for my reef tank! read more

I would like to thank everyone at ABC aquatics. I had a light issue for my saltwater reef tank. They help me create more intense light throughout my tank, which was a huge help. More importantly, he walked me through the steps so I understood what to do. Was very thoughtful. Big fan thanks, ABC aquatics read more

I called Robert mistakenly thinking that he was a aquarium store! My 10 gallon tank badly needed a new filter and Robert was kind enough to suggest an awesome solution. Being somewhat new to aquariums (I've had my tank for about a year and a half), I've had a struggle getting a filter that was just quite right. The water never really gets super clear and my plants have had a hard time growing. It's been about a week and my water has been crystal clear, the fish seem much happier and my frog is finally coming out regularly. He is super helpful and super knowledgeable. Thanks a bunch Robert! read more

If you are new to setting up and maintaining a marine aquarium, I can't recommend ABC Aquatic highly enough. Robert is knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, and is a great teacher. He has a good eye for aquascaping, and is eager to show you the ropes if you are interested. He helped me set up my 29 Gallon nano, and was able to get me some high quality biofoltration such that my tank didn't even have to cycle. This meant my tank was functionally given a Jumpstart past the first period, which can be rough and full of chemical spikes that can be lethal if you're not careful. I've kept him on to do aquarium servicing, and I'm still learning a lot in terms of pest control and maintenance, coral placement, and general good practices for maintaining a marine aquarium. For my part, I'm very in love with the hobby, and am already planning to upgrade to a 65 gallon when I have the chance. read more

I was looking for a person to clean my elderly father's 200 gallon fish tank and did a search on Yelp. What stood out to me when reading ABC Aquatic's reviews was that they were all excellent! Every single person has given Robert and his techs 5 stars and today, I too will be joining the 5 star rating club. Although I never got to meet Robert or his tech, Philip, who cleaned my dad's fish tank, I chatted and texted with Robert many times before the appt. He reassured me that his team would do a great job and true to his words, that's exactly what they did. Because Robert knew this was a job being requested for my elderly parents, he kept me abreast of every conversation he had with them. He informed me of the appt date/time and told me what the cost would be upfront, so there were no surprises. He is an honest person and professional. Because he was not present, he followed up with my parents after Philip completed the job to make sure everything was done to their satisfaction. Come to find out, my 80 year old mom kept him on the phone just because she enjoyed talking to him so much. My parents are extremely happy with the service, professionalism and affordable price. I was told by both my mom and dad, that as Philip prepared to leave, they both told him they would see him in 6 months or sooner. If that's not an endorsement of a happy customer, I don't know what is. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to find Robert and thanks to Robert, I no longer have to worry about my parent's fish tank. I'm always impressed when a business owner is so intensely focused on doing what is best for their customer that they will make a recommendation that they not conduct business with said owner. I received a call immediately after sending ABC Aquatic a message. I spoke with Robert. He was so knowledgeable and experienced with aquariums! He knows his stuff. Now I made it clear to Robert that I needed someone to build a tank- and I wanted that person to then service the tank. This was my request - and I made it clear to Robert. I'm too far for ongoing service. But I was close enough for a one-time build & install. Instead of taking the business, and not being in a place to be able to properly service the account, I was referred by Robert to another provider. To me- this is A++ work! I'm ever-so-pleased he did what was best for me, rather than himself. I'd trust this guy 100%. Thank you, Robert. Doing what's right isn't always the easiest. But you stood out! Bravo! read more

Highly Recommended! Robert was knowledgeable, responsive, accommodating and just simply a genuinely nice person. I have a 150 gallon tank with two 15 yr old aquatic turtles. It has always been a challenge to properly filtrate their tank. Turtles produce significantly more waste, and high amounts of ammonia. Robert fit me in for a clean and a filter install the next day. I've muddled by for years with two tanks in our living room but I often thought I needed someone I could call on for help when needed. A lot of my fishies have died, I could only guess at what I might be doing wrong. Recently I had a problem with the aquarium hose when trying to change water, couldn't get it working. I had saved info on ABC Aquatic and decided it was time to take the plunge. Robert responded to my email right away and confirmed he made house calls. Whew! He came by shortly and did a great job on both tanks. I learned a lot from him about proper care, including pinpointing/fixing problem with hose, and what steps I should take to improve the water quality. An issue cropped up with the filter on koi tank, it was leaking a bit. Robert was able to fix that too with a new ring for the motor. Everything is humming along nicely now and my koi especially seem happier in their new upgraded environment! That makes me happy too! I will definitely call on Robert again if needed. As he said, fish people are awesome. He has fish himself of course, is an awesome fish tank helper, and I now consider him a friend as well! read more

The prices are fair and Robert, the owner, is very highly communicative. As you can see, the tank looks better than before. I highly recommend ABC aquatic for all of your aquarium needs! read more

Wow! I cannot be happier with our new fish tank setup. We wanted to downsize our tank and also find a reliable automatic fish feeder, as we are gone quite a bit. I called Robert for advice, and he was incredibly helpful and very fast at responding. I told him what I wanted, he gathered all the materials (i.e., tank, gravel, plants, fish feeder, light, filter), and sent over Phillip to install a new tank. Phillip is amazing! He's basically an interior designer of fish tanks; more importantly, however, he has an encyclopedic knowledge of everything aquatic related; I learned so much from him about my African Dwarf frogs and other fish. I was totally lost before I reached out to ABC Aquatic. This company is flat out amazing. read more

This is an update to a review from 5 months ago. Robert was unbelievable in helping me save my mom's Koi. At that time I thought it was a 10 year-old goldfish; turns out it was an almost 20 year old koi named Beauty. Robert referred me to Steve who owns Lucky Ocean Aquarium. Please read my review there. Everybody has been unbelievably helpful. This is an amazing community! Recently Beauty stopped eating and it's been a huge challenge. I finally got her water to a good pH, but she is still not eating. Robert has just been amazing in trying to help me with this. I went out to 6th Street aquarium on Clement and I mentioned Roberts name and the man there said he and Robert go back 30 years and he wanted to know how I knew Robert. He, just like everyone, couldn't have enough good things to say about him. If you need any help at all with your aquarium get in touch with Robert. He makes house calls. He's just an incredible human being and please send your prayers and good vibes my way for Beauty read more

Recently I was diagnosed with a medical condition which was making the care of my Reef tanks problematic. I was panicking, worried to death about what would happen if things got worse for me, because I had nobody who could help me care for them. I decided that in fairness to my beautiful little charges...I needed to break the tanks down and re-home my friends. It broke my heart, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I reached out to Robert and asked him for help, and he was AMAZING!!! After making sure there was no way I could keep them, he reached out to a co-worker (the also amazing Kenneth), who came to my home and moved the tanks for me. I gave the tanks to Kenneth, and Robert found good homes for my fish and corals. I'm still really sad and miss my kids, but Robert has been keeping me updated on my livestock, and sending pics to show that they are happy. This whole experience has meant so much to me. My children & I chatted him up telling him all about how we got our fish, Cindy. He answered all Of our questions. He also gave some great ideas on how we can go more natural with our aquarium.
