Even when I am late starting the process because I am waiting for one statement or revision, my taxes get completed quickly. April is fast, efficient, accurate and communicates clearly. I'm amazed at how quickly she goes through my stack of papers in what seems like no order, yet everything gets completed in record time and accurately! On top of all that, she is a really nice person and a pleasure to work with. There was one year I decided to do my own taxes to save money - huge mistake! Unintentionally I left out one income interest statement which the IRS caught 3 years later. I had to pay a large penalty, redo that year's taxes and the following 3 since the refund amount changed, changing the subsequent year's reporting. That one mistake cost me thousands in tax preparation to correct the original year, the 2 years after and the current year. Lesson learned. Now I'm paying it forward. Get your taxes done by a professional who is expert in their field, on top of all the new laws and accurate! April and Pacific NW Tax Service is my choice all the way. I'm very satisfied with the level of service they provide.

My taxes are relatively simple - single female, renter, basic 401k, etc. But I had just moved here from NY in the summer of 2020, and did not want to do anything incorrectly. I chose PNW based on Yelp reviews & convenience. They requested the documents that they needed be dropped off - everything was done over the phone due to COVID. Cool, no problem. The day of my phone consult, I get a call from the staff asking about the documents required, saying they didn't have them. I had dropped them off as requested prior to my phone consult date. My stomach dropped - I'm thinking my main tax copies are gone. They called me back later saying they had located them. Phew ... I then did a brief phone call with my preparer, Ryan. It took about 10 mins & the only sticky topic was how to address the fact that I didn't get any stimulus when I should have. He was nice & seemed knowledgeable, so I felt good about everything up to this point. I'm told to let him know when I'm ready for him to submit everything & it will be done right then via e-sign. Now, to be fair - they do inform you that the cost of your taxes being done is based on the NUMBER of forms they have to fill out. You're to look at their website & figure out what your total will be. Unfortunately for me, I was personally not sure what I should anticipate since I had both NY & OR forms. I will say that I was completely freaking floored when I was charged close to $600. I had my 2019 & 2018 taxes professionally done by a CPA when in NY - both times less than $200. Moving forward - It took me 3 separate phone calls over the course of a couple of weeks to get the message through that I was ready to submit the taxes & ready to pay. Each time I was told it would happen by whomever answered the phone, & that I would get an email confirmation for e-sign & CC payment. Each time I waited ....waited ... called back ... waited. Each time I had to re-explain the situation to whomever answered the phone. Finally after the 3rd call, this got done. I e-sign & put the (what feels like outlandish) preparation fee on my credit card. I was then told I needed to pick up my completed tax booklet & forms from the office & that I would get a call when it had arrived within the next few days. Two weeks later I call them, as nobody had called me ... am told it's there ... so I go to sign & pick them up. Again, lack of communication. Next, I get my refund & it's a little under $500 of what my preparer had told me I would get back. I called his office 4 separate times, leaving a message each time, before I finally got to talk with my preparer to ask what had happened. I'm told he doesn't have a way to know that because he can't access my tax info. I contact the IRS like he tells me to & get a letter about them adjusting my refund. I was told to let him know what the IRS says & to send him a copy of any info I get from them. I emailed him a copy & wait 2 weeks. No response. I then start calling the office. Again, 3 separate messages left with no call or email back. Seriously, guys?!! Today, I called again & explained the situation - my preparer wasn't in the office. BUT ... I FINALLY had the luck of speaking with a lady who actually took initiative, looked into my file, looked at the letter the IRS sent me about the adjustment, AND got back to me right away. She explained what had happened and actually seemed like she cared and wanted to help me. So - thank you Julia T - I almost considered giving 2 stars because of you. To summarize, I work in a professional service industry. It would never, EVER be acceptable to ignore my clientele after they had paid for my service. If I have to stay hours past close to answer my client emails & phone calls, I do it. Never in my wildest dreams could I feel okay ignoring messages or emails like this company has. Ultimately, I have to take the responsibility for the money it cost me for my taxes - I just didn't know any better that I would be charged for both NY & OR. Do I still feel like I got swindled? Yes. If you're going to charge me premium rates, I sure as heck shouldn't have to jump through all these hoops & waste my personal time begging for a response. Only to be ignored. I feel that I was incredibly patient & gave them the benefit of the doubt repeatedly. I was never once told "sorry" or offered an apology when I explained over and over that I had already called or emailed, I had already left a message, no one had gotten back to me, etc. I never became verbally upset or rude, despite how I felt. You can do better than this place, at least until they fix what I can only guess are some serious communication issues, or a general lack of client support/care from some of their tax preparers.

I have been doing taxes with them from 2013 to 2017. For 2017 I had given all the documents well in advance. Even then my taxes were returned on the last day. I stayed up all night going through them and found a lot of errors. Even then I payed them all the money they asked for no bargaining ever. After that I got 2 letters from IRS. I contacted these guys to get help as they had done the taxes. They said they are reviewing one notice and they will be a fee to file the reply with IRS. I said I will file the reply just tell me the computation of 2017 tax addition (Just a number) They waited till the last moment and then I get a mail saying they have filled a reply and I owe them $290. When replied back I did not hear anything back and then I get hit with a $243 Net 15 invoice and If I do not pay in 10 days 18% interest. I am really upset with these guys.

She did not respond to numerous emails nor did she return numerous calls. When I finally reached her, she failed to take responsibility for the firm's error. Details: I left their offices on April 4, 2024 with taxes completed (or so I thought) and envelopes they provided pre-addressed to the IRS with instructions on how to make required quarterly payments. At the check-out desk, I asked if that was everything I needed to do and was told "yes." On May 29, I received notices from the City of Portland (Multnomah County Preschool and Metro Supportive Housing) for overdue balances (plus penalty and interest) totaling $4,695.03. Of that, $610.03 was due to penalties and interest. I paid but then started my attempts to contact the firm to find out why I had not been advised about these charges and/or given additional envelopes to submit my payments. It was not until JULY that I was actually connected with the owner, "Kristi," who was rude, long-winded, and dismissive. Her best offer was a $200 credit on the next two years of tax preparation. (Obviously I will not be going back!) Instead of the $610 penalty and interest I was charged by Portland, I said -- as a compromise -- I would accept $400 in cash. She responded "no," that she had "a business to run" and hung up. I lost $600 and lots of time. I was treated rudely and unfairly. I do not recommend this business.

I had to call the Oregon Department of Revenue myself when Peterson said they would for me. The person I talked to told me no communication with them and Peterson had taken place. I assume the same was true from the IRS. Peterson would rarely call me back when asking questions or needing an update. The employees are unprofessional and lack knowledge. My financial advisor needed a CPA to calculate my yearly distribution amount. I was told that there would be no charge but she lied and charged me anyway. I hope this helps other people avoid Peterson tax services to save money and aggravation.

So park directly in front of their sign and the entrance is in the middle of the building. Another (fun) sidenote: there is a Yumm Café, Subway and Sushi Hana right at the beginning of the complex. In other words, plan lunch ahead of your appointment and you can enjoy your time with a foodie experience! In particular, I chose to meet with Geoff Dougall, one of the partners. He was knowledgeable, listened well and was quick to grasp the situation. They work with digital signatures, which simplifies matters and the necessity of having to drive out there. When we finish our first fiscal preparations with them next year, I will update to let you know how that worked out for our little company. Right now, the fee estimate looks reasonable.

Since my mom doesn't drive, I brought her paperwork to their office and showed them where the deduction would be. From day one communication from this business was exceptionally scarce. Most of my 'updates' were in the form of automatic reply emails. It had been almost 4 months since bringing them my mom's paperwork, and her amendment still had not been filed. Additionally, It had been over a month since I had received any word from this business (not even automatic email replies). In an act of desperation and frustration I repeatedly called their business one day in an attempt to find some clarity. The next day I received an email shaming me for my attempts to reach them and stating that after a "quick review" of my moms tax return they didn't "understand what is wrong with it", even though I carefully explained and showed where the omitted deduction was when I dropped off the paperwork. It was clear that this was a retaliation, and that my mom was now being punished for what they deemed as my bad behavior. Which again, was one day of trying repeatedly to reach someone by phone. When paying a business to do one's taxes, the consumer has a reasonable expectation that they will be prepared correctly, or that any errors or oversights will be corrected in a timely and professional manner. Their refusal to amend her tax return not only reflects a lapse in ethical judgment but also raises questions about their commitment to the principles of their profession. I am extremely disappointed and would certainly not recommend that anyone use this business.
