For everyone interested in renting at any of the Weinstein properties, please be aware of the fact that there are unethical, unprofessional and will do anything to rip you off! I no longer live there but after four years of not living there I found out they put on my credit rating that they evicted me which they did not. They tried to make me pay $6000 worth of damages which of course they corrected but still to this day they are trying to get more money from me! Every time I call to get any type of information I get nothing accounting in Richmond can't tell me any information, corporate won't call back but if you see Weinstein's name do not apply read more

Walls are filled with black mold ,red mold, rats, rodents, and cracks. Don't move here if you value your life and health. I'm really surprised that there aren't any class action lawsuits against this place. I regret signing a lease here. Since I have settled in I have became so sick.... Allergies, skin issues, breathing issues and paranoid from hearing animals crawl in the walls. The rent is big as the clouds but the interior is a rainstorm. I feel sad for the children that have to breath this stuff in. I found rat dropping in the cabinets bc they come inside from the storage room that is outside. They have made holes and come through the walls. I hear possums and rats. I feel cheated to be honest and they recommend this place to military families. What a joke. read more

We lived here in 86 for almost a year and had continuous issues with rats and termites and roaches coming from water leaks that were never fixed. The washer and dryer we complained about because they never worked. Their maintenance never did their jobs. One maintenance guy who was the husband of Marie was always behind the fences sleep. The floor in the kitchen was giving way and very soft. Outside stairs were unsteady and was never fixed. They blame you for the roaches when it is their problem because they refused to fix the leaks. The place needs to be closed down. read more

Abbington continues to impress with how professional their staff is on a daily basis. Every time I call in for an issue or visit the office they hop right on it and take care of it for me. It's such a relief to have an office staff that truly cares about the satisfaction of their residents. My fiancé and I have lived here in our 1-Br townhouse for about 11 out of our 12 month lease. The only reason we are moving out is due to our newly acquired jobs in Norfolk. Our apartment has a newly remodeled kitchen on the lower floor along with a half bath and spacious living room. On the top floor we have a newly remodeled full bath with a tub/shower combo and one okay-sized bedroom with 2 large closets. There is a wonderful wall full of cabinets right when you get upstairs for storage. The maintenance staff always handles your work orders first thing in the morning. I've called for a number of minor things and they are always taken care of the morning after. The reason we chose the area is due to their non-breed restrictions in dogs. We have a German shepherd so it's hard to find a place around here that allows them. They just put in a new dog park that we LOVE taking our dogs too. Thanks Abbington! read more

Moved out in April of this year (2017) and just got a call today (July 10th 2017) saying we owe them money from moving out and we need to pay it by the end of the month (its freaking $168 which i could have paid MONTHS ago). I asked where did they send the bill to and they said to the address we moved out of. seriously? Abbington is full of it. We also lived at abbington at North Hampton and had major issues over there and by the time they emptied our pockets we could only afford to transfer to a sister property. Staff is incompetent and lazy. There is no real issue when you are signing the lease and moving in but boy is it hard to get away from them. SAVE YOUR MONEY and skip ALL ABBINGTONS (Hampton center, north Hampton, and abbington at landing!) Update: Taylor F. Please stay away from my comments and stop leading your number underneath. No one ever answers or calls back. Again you all are all about the money and actually I hope my review does discourage people from falling into your financial death trap. Cut the crap and get a moral compass. Abbington is not fit for anyone. read more

With any place one would have a bad or good experience. I personally loved this place and I'm sad I have to go. The apartments could have more closet space or I guess I could be less of a hoarder lol Jessika, the leasing manager, actually care about her resident and it shows. She constantly goes out of her way for residents and actions display true compassion. Marie, leasing consultant, is so informative and has a great sense of humor to go hand in hand with her personality. Annelise, leasing consultant, is extremely thorough in everything she does whether it be her job requirement or breaking things down for residents. Maintenance is the bomb.com!! Like I've had my service requests answered from each individual on site and they are quick and efficient. Be mindful of whether you are the type to be able to ignore noise or not. If not get a townhome. I have a toddler and constantly got noise complaints for her walking. My favorite thing about this community is how family oriented they are. You'll better understand when you see all the events they do. I even made some long lasting friends because of the events. As for the rat claims, the last time I personally seen one was in 2018 and it was outside by the lake. I never had rodents, ants, or roaches inside my apartment. They are very good at being mindful to resolve any pest control issues and have preventative pest maintenance weekly. Truly sad I have to leave. I loved this place. read more

DO NOT MOVE HERE. EVER! The website shows how nice it looks but the place is absolutely cheap and a complete ripoff. Everything falls apart and they charge you outrageous amounts to fix their terrible, less than IKEA standard cabinets. It was almost as if IKEA threw out the cabinets because they were terrible and Abbington purchased them. THE PLACE IS INFESTED WITH ROACHES. I've had exterminators come a few times and treat this place regularly. The roaches don't pay rent and live with me like horrible room mates, I've almost gotten to know them on a personal level. I took an outlet off to see if I could find where they were coming from and saw a horror movie worth of roaches come out. My unborn children will have nightmares of what I saw, it was so disgusting. THE WALLS AND CEILINGS ARE THIN. I wake up every morning to my neighbor upstairs sweeping her floor, I could hear every single bristle of the broom touching the floor (and I didn't think that was possible). I'm not quite sure how dirty her floor got or if she's just warming up her vehicle to get to work (that old witch) but it was a daily occurrence. My neighbors upstairs argue and I can hear every bit of the argument before I go to bed at night. I've actually started taking sides in their arguments and I really think he should stop going out drinking so much. I often times confuse my neighbors vibrating cell phone with my own because I can hear it through the walls. PARKING IS TERRIBLE. There is a few cars on jacks and some with low tires, one of the cars has expired registration from 2013. If there was a Model T that parked here in 1932, it would still be here because nobody tows them. CRIME. I was walking my dog when a shooting occurred in the neighborhood (this is actually true). If the United Nations knew how bad this place was, George Bush would have invaded Abbington instead of Iraq. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, SAVE THE TROUBLE OF MOVING OUT AND JUST DON'T EVER MOVE IN HERE, EVER!!!!!!!!! read more

The apartment was beautiful and the gym was great. That's all it had going for it... You can hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do and I frequently smelled marijuana from the people next door. There is also a huge crime problem in the area. In the year that I lived there, there were two shootings and one not long after I moved out. When I moved out, I couldn't be there for the walk through. I got a call MONTHS later saying that I owed them close to $500. I asked for an itemized list of damages and confirmed my forwarding address with them. A couple of months later, I get another call. Again, I asked for a bill and made sure they had the correct address. Still no bill. Finally, I start bugging them and asked for pictures as proof. They let me know that none were taken and dropped the charges. After everything was settled, they magically got my address correct letting me know that everything was taken care of. I know from others that I am not the only person they have tried to scam money out of. Make sure you watch your back with these people. read more

My fiancé and I have lived here for about seven months out of our one year lease. We picked this apartment complex mainly because they allow any type of dog. We have a 90 pound German Shepherd and that particular breed is on many restricted breed lists for housing and apartments around the Newport News and Hampton area. We are in a one bedroom townhouse that has one and a half baths, decent amount of storage space, living room, and a recently upgraded kitchen. We also have a back patio, but it doesn't get much use. I'm giving this apartment complex a five star rating because of their maintenance staff. If something breaks at 9 PM I can call the maintenance number and they will fix it first thing in the morning. We have even developed a good relationship with the main maintenance guy to where he doesn't mind if I dog stays out in the house while he comes over alone to fix anything. Great place to live if you have animals! Many doggy bag areas around for a quick walk, and it's about 10 minutes away from Sandy bottom dog park too! read more

We've lived here for 3/12 months of our lease and are saving to move before we live here for a year. We've had numerous problems and the most recent is they won't look at or approve my application for my ESA, even though it was filled out exactly as asked. I asked for a number to call corporate since they told me that's who handles this stuff and was told they didn't have that number for me. I found it eventually and got a call today saying the director is out sick. Someone is always out sick or taking an extended break for whatever reason. They always say they've called and left voicemails but my boyfriend and I have no record of these calls we've missed. They rave about being pet friendly and the new dog park, I understand that weather hasn't been ideal but it's just mud and when there was strong wind and a fence blew over it took about a week if not longer for them to fix. My boyfriend had signed a lease before I could tell him about these not so great reviews. I am so done with living here and as expensive as it is to leave, it'll be so worth it to never have to deal with these people It has been over a week I've waited for a phone call back from "corporate" the person who responded to my review only addressed one of my many issues and did not even resolve it or try to make it better. If you are looking to live here just don't. Take your money to any other apartment complex in Hampton We have been here now almost 6 months and nothing has gotten better. I update this so hopefully future residents see this and opt out on this awful place. We have given up fighting and trying to understand why and how things work because it's just too tiring. We cannot wait to get out of here and move into a place we can actually call home without also having to call maintenance every other week. Please spare yourself the frustration and money and find another place to live because this should only be last resort. read more

This place sucks. We were behind one month they evicted us and now we just received a bill for 4500$. What the heck. Even if you had to repair inside I know we don't owe no 4500$. Please do not stay here. They won't fix anything and I had mice when I was there and they never sprayed or anything read more

Where do I begin. For 2 months my roommate and I have filled several complaints about finding droppings in our kitchen. It got to a point where we could no longer eat in our kitchen due to there being droppings on the counters every day and packages of food being ripped open. The situation only got worse. You can actually hear the rodents running around in the walls. Because the situation was getting worse yet maintenance came out every week and kept saying they didn't see droppings or signs of pest (lies), I asked if I could set up an appointment with maintenance to see what was being done. The complex gave me a hard time about setting up an appointment and I had to beg them to give the maintenance man my number to call before arriving to my home so that I could see what was being done in the home. The maintenance man came and I had to ask him to pull out the fridge and check behind the fridge even though in his reports he said he did this. He pulled the fridge out and he said he saw a whole and a lot of droppings. The droppings were swept up by maintenance and a sealant was placed down for the first time even though the maintenance had been reporting to my home for about 2 months. We then decided to look at options through terminex since the issue was not being handled and terminex reported that the home was rat infested. Terminex showed me all of the places outside of my home that needed to be treated and had not been by the complex. We have a shed in the backyard and when terminex opened it, it was feces everywhere and he stated that it smelled like urine. He also showed me a broken vent that they were most likely getting into the home through. At this point, I am nervous for my health and well being as rodents carry many diseases and I myself have asthma and other health conditions. Once I received the report from terminex, I explained to the property manager the issue and I expressed my concerns to her. She showed no signs of empathy towards the situation and said that the home appeared to be livable and that it was our choice not to eat in the home and that it was basically not her concern that this could be affecting our health. She also gave many excuses as to why we were dealing with this such as a lake being near by, the home being older, etc. Excuses are unacceptable and I feel prisoner in my own living space. This complex is poorly managed and I wouldn't suggest anyone live here. read more

ZERO STARS this apartment complex is a JOKE. We had a rat infestation and the apartment complex DID NOTHING. Over a month of constantly fighting with them to treat our home. I had droppings from rats all over my kitchen. My roomate and I had to stay in a hotel that we had to pay for. Management here is s JOKE.! this is the worst place to live. Please do not move here!!!! I also had a clogged sink in my bathroom for 2 weeks maintaince left a note with nothing but a mans signature he did NOTHING he didn't even write down what was supposed to be doing Which is hypothetically abbingtons policy to do when performing a maintenance request. My roomate and I cannot wait to leave this place the property manger is rude and utterly nasty and does not care about helping you. Warning you it's been terrible here. read more

During our time living here we have witnessed a huge increase in amenities. We have witnessed the building of the Office, clubhouse, gym, playground, pool and slight addition of parking... and most recently new the dog park. We have submitted maintenance requests quite often but understand as it is an older building and that alone come with issues outside of maintenance reach... but requests have always been resolved in a timely fashion. We love living here and we are exited to transfer units soon (as we have been living in our unit almost 5 years, we are transferring from an apartment to a townhouse). We have always been treated very nicely by the staff here and the staff roster is large. Another great thing is this community allows pets. When we moved in they had pet restrictions... weight limits, breed limits, etc... since then they have lifted restrictions and we now have some beautiful big breeds for my small breed to play with. Our one and only consistent complaint is the parking situation. When we first moved here, the parking lot we use was dark and creepy. It was usually not hard to find parking though because it was an unfavorable nighttime situation. I routinely had my pepper spray on the ready walking from my car back then. Since then they have improved that parking lot tremendously, although we have lost some of the parking spaces... with the upgrades come sacrificed and restrictions I guess. Here are the current issues: We are only given one parking pass per unit (we only have one car so we aren't affected too much by this, but I have heard residents claim they have lost their pass and will be issued another pass. Potentially these residents could be collecting passes and therefore can be clogging the parking lot with multiple cars from one unit). I also understand there is no restriction on how many vehicles each unit can park on the property so some cars have been parked and not moved. Reserved parking also isn't assigned by unit and is first come first serve. We currently live close to the clubhouse, which has a smaller parking lot than the other buildings and is typically full. It also has many cars that utilize whatever space is available despite it not being a parking spot. One example of this is cars without passes will wrap around the median parking, creating difficulty accessing some parking spots. On more occasions than I can count on both hands parking was bad enough we had to park closer to the next apartment community than our own apartment. There is no guest parking available, if it even exists its being used as overflow for residents and street parking is overflow for residents as well. To add to the parking frustration, after a couple of encounters with the tow co. and research, I found the towing company contracted for the community is in violation of multiple Virginia Codes. They are very much a "hook and book" operation- so beware. If you intend on entertaining, at least have your guests carpool to you so they might avoid having to find multiple spots in an already overcrowded parking situation, and it might help avoid having multiple guests towed for unauthorized parking... not to mention it's just rude to other residents if have a large party of guests with multiple vehicles clogging up spaces. read more

Great place to live. Safe quiet modern.. great staff huge doggie park locked hallways to apartments.. beautiful lake view!

ALL MILITARY pay attention to the lease. Do not let them screw you over! They will say they are military friendly and in case of new orders, deployment, etc active members and their spouse/ dependents will be released from the lease but that is BS! Your spouse and dependents will not be released from the lease. Have military housing review your lease and they will tell you the "Addendum" waives your military rights and you WILL be responsible for the lease. It is not okay for them to try and screw us over, they should be direct about what is on the lease. read more

Loved staying here!!! As a Hampton student my Roomate and I were looking for a place away from the majority of most Hampton students who lived off campus while still at an affordable price. The apartments were very well kept up. Staff was always very pleasant and very timely when answering questions. The gym was small but kept up very well, the pool is always clean when you're needing to go for a swim in those hot summer months. What I probably loved the most was the peace and quiet that I was afforded. Being a morning person I tend to go to sleep early, which i couldn't do living in other apartments in the area due to noisy neighbors. Another benefit, It's only a 10 min trip from the university. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because the parking was not the best when I was there from 2014-2015. Other than that great place to live. read more

I absolutely love living here! It's a relatively quite community aside from normal noise. I love the open kitchen and how spacious my apartment is. There's a small lake with ducks that my son loves to feed and lots of open space for him to run around. The staff is friendly and helpful. Donna, especially, goes above and beyond to make sure my stay here is a happy one and that I have no concerns. I would definitely recommend this community and I plan on continuing my stay here. read more

So i have lived here almost two years so I think I can sufficiently write a review worth reading. Cons: The community seems largely that of military. Generally nice people live in and around my building. I do not have bug issues, but it seems that sometimes squirrels tend to get into water pipes from the roof. They are no harm. Pet friendly community. They have supposed weight (50 pounds) and breed restrictions, but I have definitely seen German Shepherds, blue Pitbulls, and other "restricted" breeds around. I am not bothered by them, but a bit peeved that I got my own small animal to abide by their "rules". There have been multiple times weed is an issue in the area and in my building. On some holidays, shootings have also occurred in this complex. Police do patrol every single day. Also, the walls are paper thin, and you will hear ALL of your neighbors fighting and "business". My rent has currently risen over $100 in the little time I have lived here. I pay close to $900 now, not including electric or internet. Also, the electric is split up by number of people in the apartments in your building, there are no individual meters. The dishwasher in the units suck. They take forever and use a ton of water. Better stick to hand washing. UPS/FEDEX kinda sucks here because they have a habit of not leaving door tags if you get packages. The buildings all need a second key to get into them which is a pro and con. The added safety is good, but not so great when you have two arms full of groceries. Pros: The pest control is on their game. They also generally are good about keeping up the grounds and icing sidewalks in snow/ice. Maintenance is pretty quick to fix anything that breaks. Since moving in, the new pool, gym, office, and playground have been built, and they add nice touch to the place. The pool is only open when there is a lifeguard, unfortunately. The ladies in the office are nice, and try to be helpful and friendly. They try to make sure to let you know ahead of time if they need to come into your apartment, if not, they leave door tags as to why they visited. They have improved parking, as it was a HUGE deal when I first moved in. I gave a 3 star because I have lived in nicer apartments, but I guess in this area there is not a ton to choose from without going over to Newport News. Also to note, I live in a 1b/1b unit with wooden floors. read more

My husband and I lived here twice, once for about 9 months, the second time for about a year and a half. In that time we lived in an apartment and a townhome (then the same apartment we had previously lived in again) the first time we literally never had a single issue. None. Nothing at all. We loved the place and only moved because of his deployment. The second time... we had quite a few issues including multiple dryer fires, but maintenance was always on top of them. The dryer was BEYOND frustrating as it took forever to fix, and one of the dryer fires was the day before we were set to give birth to our second child. But eventually, they figured it out and it was back to normal and had no more issues with it after that. Never had any pest issues in the townhome aside from the normal ants, which was not a huge deal. We loved the townhome and only reason we left there to go back to our original apartment was, he was deploying again and I wanted the added security in the apartment. So. In the apartment we had issues with our downstairs neighbor constantly coming up banging on the door because we had kids. Which was the main reason I moved out because Christmas was coming and my kids literally could not play in their room without the downstairs neighbor complaining and banging on their ceiling to the point my apartment shook or slamming on my door about it. So if you don't like noise do not live in the apartments. It's a fact of life in apartments and do not put your neighbors through what mine put me and my kids through. I had 1 single roach in my apartment actually the night before I moved out, which was likely from leaving the sliding door on the balcony open and maintenance happened to be there so he killed it for me. Bill, analiese (spelled it wrong), and Marie were always SO helpful! We definitely plan on moving back there as soon as we go back to Virginia at the end of this year/ early next, but we definitely will be choosing townhome living again. All in all there was some bad, a few things security wise through out the entire time but all in all the fact that me, being from the middle of no where, no crime rate at all, was comfortable for the most part is saying something. I can't wait to move back. read more

One of the shadiest apartment complex's I've ever lived in. There were rats that never went away. Every time you would call and complain about noise or the smell of marijuana nothing was done. Same " Call the courtesy police". They would come and magically not smell the same things we did. Lived there for a year and somehow had "Heavy urine damage" on my carpets when I never owned a pet. I even cleaned the carpets myself before leaving. But somehow there were still some heavy damages even though they are required to replace carpet after s certain amount of years. I will never recommend anyone to live here. 4 of us have all lived in a apartment or town home here and every single one of us has gotten screwed over. The staff is gret (loved Jenny). But other than that, no good things. Constant break ins, and the police are always over there. They would never enforce residents cleaning their animals feces. I complained multiple times about cigarette butts being thrown in my yard. Nothing was fixed. read more

I'll start by saying aside from the constant spiders I used to LOVE my townhome and was going to renew my lease up until the last THREE weeks before my lease ended and everything went downhill. I got charged $300 (I'm getting an attorney) for a pet that was in my home for THREE days total and i even let them know ahead of time weeks before bringing her here after being nice and trying to work something out with them Justina just blew me off like "oh well" pretty much, she wasn't considerate or helpful at all for a "manager"! For someone who has never been late on rent or had any complaints called on me I took this pretty hard! They also walk in and out your home as they please no call or heads up.. I was in bed one day and a lady was walking into my house as I began walking downstairs. I scheduled a move out inspection and showed up 30 minutes before my inspection to find out they ALREADY DID IT! So i never got to be there for it and now I'm forced to pay a bunch of fees i was not there to witness and i got charged rent for days AFTER my lease was expired I'm so over this place! I've tried getting ahold of Weinstein Property to handle this the correct way and of course no one answers..Also my car got broken into within the last few weeks of being here no one cared about that either. Now the only thing I can say about this place is that Marie in the office is wonderful and this place is money hungry and doesn't care about their residents after it's all said and done. I never write reviews but I felt this was necessary. See you in court!! read more

This is possibly one of the worst complexes available to live in. The staff in the office, including management, threaten to have cars towed due to lack of a parking pass but only allow one per home. How many homes do you know of that only have a single vehicle? Not only that but after asked about getting or purchasing a second decal are told that they can't do that, only one per apartment. That leaves no where for anyone to park because out of the roughly 32 spaces in a double sided lot all but 2 are reserved for parking permits. 1 permit per apartment, 24 apartments per building, therefor 6 spaces that literally can not be used. They claim to be unaware of all of the spaces but two being reserved, god forbid you have a guest. After the treat of towing cars without decals, they make no effort to stay true to the threat, although cars park in fire lanes and no parking zones to avoid the 'no decal' threat. I don't enjoy walking half a mile through a dimly lit parking lot to get to an apartment, all the while it is stated in the amenities that police patrol the area. They do not. They sit at the far side of the complex near the more expensive town homes and don't do as the website says, patrol. A recent mugging happened in a parking lot ( three men waited and attacked a resident) of the complex and not a single resident was notified of this, and the " patrol" continues to be non existent. The apartments are not properly repaired after the last tenets, to the point an ex tenant of the residence came to confirm that she was being charged for damage that the apartment complex did not repair, therefore could not be considered damage. Reports have been made of vermin nesting in the air ducts and the complex simply say that it's a figment of imagination. I don't know about you, but I know when I hear creatures stirring in my ceiling. The club house that is included in our rent as stated by the website as an amenity, is not allowed to be reserved or used by residence, no explanation as to why, even though it's use is factored into the cost of the rent. If you receive a package at the front desk, don't expect to be notified of its arrival. Although you have been told that you will be notified by email of its arrival. Your packages will sit until you go and ask about them, or the employees get tired of seeing it sit in the office. I've been in much lower rent apartments and received much better service and up keep than this place. For almost a thousand dollars a month for roughly 5 to 600 sq. ft I expect a lot more. read more
