I can only comment on the donuts I tried here. They were relatively big and for a good price (6 for $7.50). Below are my thoughts on each donut. Raspberry Jelly - This was probably my favorite donut ate here. The donut was packed with thick raspberry jelly. It was great. Cream - This was alright. There was a lack of cream filling in this particular one. Peanut Butter with Vanilla Icing - This was very interesting. The peanut butter was in the middle and there was also a vanilla icing on top. It was very thick and heavy. Custard Cream - This was similar to the cream filled donut, but I believe it was custard cream. It was decent. Chocolate Frosted - Nothing special about this particular one, average. Apple Filling with Chocolate Icing - I did not think the chocolate icing was needed. There was plenty going on with just the apple filling. Will I go back? Possibly. read more

Great donuts here (best in area) but need faster counter service. Line takes forever to get donuts and this is because counter lady is too distracted with everything going on. She could use a second person to help her with orders. Also, there is ALWAYS a line here so improved, more organized line system would be helpful. A rope line with stanchions and belt or plastic chain would go a long way. read more

BEST DONUTS IN SARASOTA COUNTY !!! I love Abbe's donuts especially the maple cream sticks and the apple fritters. I have to say their apple fritters are the best that I have ever had anywhere. Their plain glazed donuts are great as well. No matter what you decide to try here it will be great. These donuts are still hand made here daily. Unlike your chains that get them frozen and frost them. Dunkin does not even make fresh donuts anymore. Unfortunately they run out of some delicious donuts early on and yes we have to settle for great donuts.

The Port Charlotte location was closed when we got there! They took a big hit from Hurricane Ian. But I needed an Abbe's donut!So we drove to the North Port location. I got my usual apple fritter, and my husband got his usual jelly filled. But wait! The bottom shelf had light chocolate donuts with a smear of frosting and a sprinkle of coconut. He ordered donut #2! It turned out to be filled with German chocolate frosting-like a sandwich! Sooo delicious! You'll never be disappointed with a donut from Abbe's! Worth the drive, for sure! read more

Great donuts? Yes. The world's best donuts? I don't know about that. They are fresh and tasty and they have quite the variety. And they are right in town ... but always crowded. Which would mean that everyone loves Abbe's. Every person that I talk to in town will tell you Abbe's is a must try. And I totally agree. And did someone say they have peanut butter filling?!?!? Just arrived the night before for a week's vacation on the beach, and needed a donut fix! This shop is small, but the donut selection is mighty! We had to have the maple bacon donut which we all fought for a taste - it was so delicious! The raspberry jelly was awesome, as was the coconut. Even the cake donuts are crazy good - really light and fluffy and not grease-soaked like some places we've been to over the years. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed our stop! Not only would we go there again, we actually did later in the week - and that time we also tried the huge apple fritter, and it was as yummy as it looked! read more

Apple fritter is to die for. We tried a variety of donuts all were really good, but the Apple fritter had just come out hot and fresh. It had a crisp to it and was hot. Abbe's doughnuts are AMAZING. I would drive 30 min each way for one of their APPLE FRITTERS. Gigantic gob of fried dough with actual slices of sweet apple peeking out through the beautiful glaze and deep fried to a perfect outer crisp. TO. DIE. FOR. The raised chocolate glaze is my 2nd fav. Twice as high as your average raised and melts in your mouth. This place is a true dive - no frills - just the real doughnut deal. These donuts are absolutely delicious. I used to go here every week or two for my cheat meal and would order about half a dozen just for myself. I am a huge fan of the apple fritter (try to get there at 7am when they are nice and fresh), the simple glazed, the boston creme, and all the random flavors they will have sometimes. The gods of Olympus often dined upon ambrosia and until I visited Abbe's donut shop I had not a clue what such a substance could taste like andddd then I bit into an apple fritter and it altered my world. I was thrown into a vast expanse of a universe I had never known before. I bounced upon cinnamon glazed clouds and ran along baked apple roads. Yes, I was in a non-drug induced trip but my fall was comforted by the pillows of sweet dough sticky with an omnipresent glaze of perfection.
