Consumer beware! My 20 x 25 slab I got from AB Cement is cracking in several places after only 4 months. The cost of the slab was not cheap. I reached out to Tony Brown the owner for assistance but have not gotten any help. The 3 guys working the job left a huge mess. There were cigarette butts, patches of wet cement in my grass and they left debris on the slab while settling. Halfway through the job they ran out of cement and now there is a distinct line where one section dried before the next section was poured. They told me it would eventually seam together but of course, that never happened. The crew didn't even come with all the equipment needed for the job so they asked me to rent a $250 cement buggy to help them out. They were not prepared for the job with equipment or supplies. Do not use AB Cement unless you want to have to pay for a second job to be done. read more

Tony continues to avoid my calls. When I do get him on the phone he says he will call me back after talking to his foreman - he never does. Meanwhile the crack keeps extending. I thought the pricing was very fair for the work that was being done. What I did not appreciate was the workers lounging in my furniture during breaks and splashing cement all over the backside of my house and door. I was going to let all of that go because overall the patio was finished and it looks nice. However, I found a piece of metal sticking up through part of the slab and after reaching out to Tony repeatedly for a month it's still not fixed. When I call and he actually answers the phone he says he will put me on the schedule, says he will call me back or acts shocked that his guy didn't show up to fix it. I am getting the run around with no fix in sight. I am sure it's a very simple fix, but this company does not stand by their work or have any pride in their product. Very disappointed. read more

I do not believe many of the good reviews. This guy is a scammer. He miscalculated the amount of concrete we would need. So, we have a huge area with rough poured concrete barely covering the rebar in areas. It was on a slope. So, it was supposed to be built up on one side and then leveled. He did not even set the frame level. It is a mess. My arthritic husband had to try to jack hammer it up, but it is a real mess. He noticed 2 wheelbarrow shaped piles of concrete "hidden" in the trees out of sight behind our dog run...along with other trash and pieces of concrete. I remember one of his workers with some concrete in a wheelbarrow asking my husband where they should dump it and my husband said to use it or take it with them. We assumed they did. Nope! Tony (the owner) apologized that the area was unfinished and said as he was leaving that he would find the next possible date for delivery for and get back to me asap. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. I left eft messages, called, emailed. Nothing. He totally blew us off. What kind of company operating in such a way has an average of 4 stars? Don't believe it, people! Something not right with this company. Side note...it was hot outside. Tony asked if we could go inside to talk about the job. While inside (husband not around), Tony started telling me I looked like a certain famous person (I'll keep the name to myself). He kept telling me how pretty I was and asked me for a hug. I smiled and hugged him (kind of). The whole thing felt so very creepy, but a lot of you women out there know how it is (you get through it as to avoid confrontation and it does not hit you until later how awful it felt). After the hug, he kept telling me he wished my husband was not here and laughing. It was uncomfortable and awkward. I realized after he left how gross it really was. I kept it from my husband and the whole thing still makes me queasy. Part of me was relieved to have never heard from them again as I felt violated in more than just one way. Overall work done was good. Looks much better. Some inconsistency with what was discussed prior to job getting done. What I thought we discussed was not clear since Tony did not write out a contract/agreement. Would recommend obtaining a written agreement on what to expect as far as the entirety of the project, what will be done, and the time frame. As a night shifter living in a dayshift world, time of day work is done is also something to take into consideration when discussing timeframe. Price was reasonable. Quote given did not include the finished project. In order to fully complete had to pay an additional cost. I had stated I wanted to have entire slab of concrete to match the repair but as mentioned previously there was nothing written down which lead to the inconsistencies. Would not recommend this company for cement work. Slab was uneven, once the slab was poured, they never returned to cut the relief seams. I reached out multiple times about what they had left to finish & never heard from them again. They left forms at our home, did not repair damage caused by bobcat. Funny how once the money for the slab was paid in good faith by me, I never heard from them again. Oh, and there is a seam in the concrete because the person driving the cement truck spilled 1/4 of the last load (seam is cracking already, a month later), so they had to finish the next day. I gave them multiple opportunities to come finish their work & I should not have to chase them to finish what was promised. Poor customer service, DO NOT USE these guys. read more

Only get work done with them if you do not want to get it done right and on time. One of the worst contract job I got done was with AB Cement. They didnot clean after the job, leaving concrete all over the backyard and also in the public land. After multiple calls to Tony, he or his team did not show up for the cleaning and failed to take the responsibility. The slope on the deck is not correct either. There are puddle of water on the deck every time it rains. There are also cracks in the the deck already. Kept asking for money before the work is finished after initially saying that only 50% is required before job is done. Threatened to leave the job in middle if check is not written before the concrete is even poured. Stay away from them if you don't want to regret later. read more

Work done included back porch steps, extension to pool deck, front sidewalk, and a sidewalk on the side of the house. Quality: Front Sidewalk: Asked to have sidewalk in front level with ground/grade but it ended up 4-5 inches above grade. Now hard to run mower across and is generally annoying. Side Sidewalk: Acceptable. Its up off the grade like front sidewalk but it isn't really an issue like it is in the front. Pool Deck: was supposed to have 6 umbrella holes but they ended burying 4/6 into the concrete and cannot be found. Never did anything about it. They tried to clean up our pool couping because they failed to cover it during the pour to protect it...the limestone was stained HEAVILY with concrete that seeps into it. We made sure to tell them to protect it beforehand, but they didn't. It'll need to be replaced. Back Stairs: Acceptable. Looks ok, there are areas on the stair treads where it was filled with mortar after the fact (where ford were) and looks a little strange. I also had electric pool light switch that was going to be buried when they poured unless I moved it myself the day before...they didn't even mention it and probably would have encased it in concrete. Overall comments: Constantly asks for more checks well over the customary 50% upfront. Promises a lot upfront but many times doesn't follow through. Often don't hear from him for days and doesn't communicate when they come and go without following up. Good weather or bad, hard to tell when coming or not. Left a mess. We probably picked up 500-1000 rusty nails everywhere. Concrete that spills under the forms and creates chunks was everywhere. Not good at doing cleanup. They used a concrete mixer I have (didn't ask to use) and didn't clean it out after. Left a big pile of base material in our lot that was left over. Once all the money is given, you will never hear from them again on anything. Cleanup, etc. Hold back 20% until a final walkthrough is done and you are satisfied is my advise. On sidewalks there was no iron used. An area of concrete cracked off from their bobcat (they fixed it) and there was no structural iron in the concrete. read more

The team repaired sections of my driveway that were cracked due to oak tree roots. Tony added rebar over the roots and fixed the driveway without hurting the trees.
