I've used these guys twice for my retiree parents. Once to move out of their 5000 square feet home and just now to move out of their rental. Extremely professional and I just stood out of the way and they did their thing. They put together my parents furniture and helped rearrange everything to fit. We had some heavy wooden furniture and they some now managed to get it out of a giant house an into a smaller retiree village home. I'll use them anytime my parents or I need to move. read more

I honestly can't even give this company a single star. I recently purchased a new home and hired them for the move. In speaking with them to set up services, the agreement was for a 2 man crew *at $140/hr* to arrive at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the move. When the day arrived, I was contacted at 8:00 and was told the truck was down and they would contact me when they were en route for the move. I was not contacted until after 4:30 p.m. and the movers didn't arrive until around 5:00. When they arrived, there was a 3 man crew, and I was told the cost was $185/hr for a 3 man crew. I was also informed that the initial estimate was for 5.5 hours and even with a 3 man crew it's estimated at that same time. I inquired about a 3 man crew being sent without prior notification and why the move would take the same time with a 3 man crew as it would with a 2 man crew. They had no answers. I contacted the owner and we came to an agreement I was able to live with. Then, I was told the paperwork for the job was left at the office and they had to go get it. They left and NEVER RETURNED. I wish I could give them zero stars. Extremely inconsiderate and unprofessional. Took them 20min to drive .4 miles and they made three trips. I was charged for that hour of time they wasted. They couldn't follow simple directions and just laughed and goofed off the entire time. Likely bc they were high. The smell of pot on them was over bearing. I was quoted a 5 hr move but since they wasted time driving from one house to the other and worked extremely slow the move took 7 hrs. I blame this extra time entirely on them. Called AB&C Moving on a Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. My move was scheduled for the next day in the early afternoon. By 2:00 P.M. the next day my furniture was at my new home and in place. I only had about 15 larger items to move but was very impressed on how quick the crew moved my furnishings. Oh my God, avoid this company! Got a quote to move ranch with basement about 10 hours. Price/estimate looked very reasonable compared to others. Four guys show up and walk though, agreeing that 10 hours should be fine. Except they bring a short truck, then say they'll need to make multiple trips. And then... Damage, damage, damage. They ruined two tables by settings heavier stuff on top and scratched up the tops with things sliding around in a loosely packed truck. They ruined the corners of an antique curio cabinet. They ruined the top of our dining room table with multiple scratches and claimed "it was like that before we moved it." They broke a door handle when they lost grip of a box and let it fall. They stacked our basement 5- and 6-high with no regard for the weight crushing the boxes marked FRAGILE on the bottom of the stack. They scratched up my beautiful WOOD STAIRS by using a dolly after I asked them several times to not use a dolly, but they assured me it would be fine. They scratched up freshly painted white doors and chipped up our door frames. They ruined the front door by chipping the wood of the threshold after rubbing and slamming the dolly up and down against it with every trip and not suggesting to protect it. In fact, they didn't wrap any furniture either. After 10 hours, the crew decides that they weren't going to get it done today and that we'd have to call the office and see if they could get someone back out on Monday. So, half of our stuff at the new house and the other half is at the old house with no bedding assembled and kids of 5, 2, and 1 suddenly being abandoned by the moving crew who promised with four guys -- even after they walked through it that morning -- it was suddenly too much for them to complete? Maybe if you hadn't taken a one hour lunch or been driving back and forth for half of the day because you brought such a short truck? Maybe if you were more experienced and knew what you were doing? After having to beg and plead with the owner on the phone to not leave us to have to find a hotel room for the night, he concedes he'll come back Sunday and he'll send this crew back for "one more trip" to at least move and set up our master bed. Sunday looked promising at first and lots of complaining about how that Saturday crew "needs to be retrained, I guess", but no apology and this crew damaged two more pieces of furniture. They keep laughing at how this crew wouldn't have taken so long and they could've finished the job in "1 day easily". But there are really only three guys working as the owner (fourth guy) says he injured his knee so all he does is the furniture disassembly and assembly. Another short truck and countless numbers of trips back and forth. Another 10 hours today. Our new house is only 15 minutes away from our previous house... how can this be such a disaster? With not one apology, but then he does hand us instructions of how to submit claims thought the State of Illinois for damage where we have to take a picture and write a report detailing everything and mail it in. He then hands us a bill for both days at 4 guys each day for full price with no discount or care. Wait -- they mess up enough so that owner himself has to come out on Sunday to finish the job and correct the mistakes and then has the nerve to charge us full price and counting his time in addition to 7 other guys who are clearly unable to do a decent job. They did damage like using dolly's on hardwood steps that he admits "They should never do that." and he has the nerve to charge me full price after all this? You want me to pay almost $5,000 for the same quality I could get my college buddies to do? At least I could pay them with beer and they could probably be completely intoxicated and do less damage than these guys. But worst of all, they disassembled furniture with a pair of needle nose plyers and then reassembled that same furniture by twisting the screws with their hands because "We would have to carry so many tools with us for every different sized screw/bolt, it would almost be impossible!" My 1-year-old daughter was almost seriously hurt when the side of her crib completely fell off when we placed her in her bed that night - not knowing they didn't attach the pieces. My 5-year-old son's bed had the wood all chewed up because the screws were being pulled and rocked since they left them loose but then put the box spring and mattress weight right on top of this half-assembled disaster. Quite frankly, I just don't think the owner cares. Clearly they have two different crews of four each, so all the good reviews you see here are likely that A crew that came on Sunday... good luck rolling the dice when you hire them to see what team they send you. We had the F crew. Although it was the Sunday crew's loose crib assembly that almost sent my 1 year old to the hospital, so I don't think they're that much better! We should have picked a different company. read more

Very disappointing. They came highly recommended and the reviews i read online were good. The move we hired them for was a 2 day move. The first day they were great. The second day they were very late and i had to keep calling to get an ETA. To make up for it, they sent extra movers. During the chaos, one mover came up and and told me he broke a pot.....nice of him to own up to it, no biggie. The next thing i knew i walked out into the garage and several movers were huddling around one of my TVs. The main guy told me they had broken the acrylic stand off of my 40 inch tv and i should buy a new stand and they would reimburse. I bought a replacement piece and started getting the runaround. Promises to come by and look at it, several emails later and i am still without use of that tv. Very disappointing. read more

I was recently referred to them by a friend who used them and had a great experience and I did as well. They were professional, introducing themselves with a handshake, they got right to work, were careful with my belongings, and were super friendly. Pretty good pricing depending on where you live. I was moving in St. Louis so since they charge per hour from the minute they leave their office, I paid a little more, but there was no deposit or one-time service fee, and my move was kind of last minute and they were still able to accommodate me. I decided to hire AB&C Moving back in July 2017 for a local move. I am a single mother and had no one else to rely on for this move other than AB&C. From the time they arrived in the morning, they complemented me several times for having everything so organized and prepared for the move. (I did A LOT of work prepping to ensure the move would be as simple as possible). They began loading all of my furniture and things seemed to be going ok. A couple hours into the job, I could see that the younger workers on the job seemed to be somewhat aggravated and irritable, rolling their eyes as they tried loading my heavier leather NEWER furniture onto the truck. That was very concerning but I tried to overlook it, it is July and it is hot out.. I did not have more furniture than most, more than likely I imagine I had less than a typical household. Remember, it is only my son and I. Their truck could not fit all of my furniture so we had to have TWO trips to fully move me from point A to point B. No other option so we just kept moving along. During the second trip, we made it to the final destination and again, it was obvious these guys were very irritated and ready to be done. And just for the record, I moved into a ranch, no basement, so was fairly easy to unload, in my opinion and YES, I was helping every chance I could. After the majority of the furniture had been unloaded, the "supervisor" had to bring to my attention that as they were moving furniture in the bedrooms, they damaged the door frames by dragging the furniture along the sides of the doors. Keep in mind, I just paid a TON of money for all new carpet, baseboards, AND new paint all throughput the house. I could not believe it. This was on all THREE bedrooms and a lot of damage. I knew immediately I would have to have my painting company come back out and re-do all of the door trim, Unbelievable. One week later, I went back to the old house to do the final clean, my close date was scheduled for the following week, and that is when I noticed significant damage in the laundry room. When they were moving my washer and dryer out, they put four gashes in the flooring which was also only six months old! I called them immediately to inform them of the damages and they were somewhat apologetic but had no idea how they were going to "fix" the problem. Long story short, I did not have enough time to get the flooring company back in to repair the damages to the floor before the closing date. I had to inform the new home owners of the damage and of course, they were NOT happy. They demanded I get a quote to have the flooring replaced in the areas of the damages so I did. Because the closing was so close, the homeowners demanded I pay them to have the flooring squares "replaced" which was roughly $500. I had to pay that out of pocket in order to close on the home. I informed AB&C of this and even sent them a copy of the check I had to write for $500. They ended up deciding to reimburse me $290. I guess I should be grateful they stepped up at all, huh? (Sarcasm...) So, after damages done in both homes, paying $1,100 for the move, paying the painters to repaint the door frames, AND paying $500 for the damaged flooring, NO, I would never consider hiring this company again. read more

I used this company based on Yelp reviews and ended up FURIOUS. I asked the movers why they were carrying my items out w/o wrapping & taping them 1st and was told they would do it the truck. I thought that was stupid since I didn't want my furniture scratched on the way out. Everything had been loaded except for the large items I'd wanted professionals to handle. When I got to my destination and found my furniture had only been draped with moving blankets and not secured with tape or anything. I had to stand in my truck, wrap and tape my items. It was raining. I called & gave an ear full. WHAT A FREAKING WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!!! read more

You want a rating? How about 'Hell No!!!' Don't ever hire these guys. I used them in late 2017 to move to a new house 30 minutes away. They assessed my move and quoted 3 guys/1 trip for $1.5K...as well as the super-professional care that comes with a first-class company. On move day, they had to bring in an extra guy because the lead guy looked over everything and figured 3 would not get it done...and he added an extra trip! Not to mention, the movers were not as professional as the initial assessor...I thought they pulled these guys off a local street corner (one was visibly under the influence of the previous night's party...we called an made a complaint). Long story short, they damaged several items in the move to include the mirror for our bedroom set (shattered, not replaceable) and even more damage to the old home (scratched wood floors, scratches/holes in walls, etc). I think they were finally done around 9 pm and presented me with a bill close to $2K (extra guy, extra trip, extra boxes, extra tape). Needless to say, I submitted my claim to include photos of all damage. It took weeks for before they sent a $175 check for the mirror...are you kidding me? The mirror alone was over $800, not to mention it was part of a set. Since they failed to reimburse me for the damage to my old home, I pinged them for the next 2-3 months with no response. Stay away from these guys...you will regret it! read more

I hired AB&C Moving to move an upright grand piano. They were very nice and professional over the phone and gave me an estimate right then. Four guys were sent to complete the move and each one of them greeted me with a handshake and introduced themselves as they entered through the door. They were very friendly and took time to figure out a good plan before attempting to move the piano. This company knows what they're doing and cares about their customer's property.
