Our recent experience has reminded me that going local is the way to go…read more We needed a new dishwasher recently and decided to purchase through one of the two chain garden/home improvement stores. The service was "meh" but we persevered. After waiting for two weeks for any movement on the company, we decided to go down the street to Tim's and see what options they had for dishwashers. While the selections were few, they had one dishwasher that had what we wanted (of COURSE we want the third rack...doesn't everyone?)...and though it was more expensive than we originally planned on spending (at the box store), it was ready for purchase and installation. We paid for it and waited for a phone call to have it installed...and what do you know? We were called within two days and the actual dishwasher was installed within three days of the call! The person who installed the dishwasher was professional, respectful, and determined to install the product completely and correctly! We are still waiting to hear from the box store for next steps on purchasing a cheaper dishwasher...it's now been a month since we started the process with them. I kind of hope they do call so that I can rave about Tim's and their speedy service. Oh, and that we ended up purchasing a more expensive product. Go local, my yelping friends!

"It", (This, whatever this nonsense is), all started long ago. 30 years or so while I was working…read moreat The Old Sawmill Restaurant, and was dating a girl named Robyn. We worked together, she was a waitress and I was a host, a dishwasher, and worked the deli counter sometimes. Becky Hagen of the California Highway Patrol trained me for the third position there. Also cleaned the meat department cutting room. Harold, and Dale and Cindy Kylie were good enough to show me things in there when they had time. This was my first "real" job considering most people think of lawn mowing as simply "chores". Not when it's more than that; learning plumbing, electrical, and other things with the "handy-man" in order to know how to care for 11 rental properties I think eleven is the correct count, but - THAT was even further back in time. Robyn and I spent whatever time we could together after school and work. To the river, or her family's house, the park, "Little Hollywood", or whatever other "out of the way" place we could find away from people - just off the road sometimes. The night that stands out, though, is the night I was "introduced" to someone I never thought about again until this past month even though he had popped up in my life shortly later while I was living at the Brooks Ranch in Woodland, CA, then years and years later while I was an Overnight Volunteer for Mariposa Open Arms; our homeless "shelter" that started off as an idea to ne a "warming center" that ended up being 7 days a week, 365 days a year - not just when the weather got below freezing. It was the night I met her "stalker", Jeff Miller - and told him (because she told me), that she was not interested. Take a hike, dude. I was 15. Sometime later Robyn had told me that her father got it in his mind that I was, "just a tweaker", and lacked the ambition to go far in life. I had no idea at the time where he could think that; maybe he could see previous drug use in me? I wasn't even smoking weed at the time - much. She told me he was threatening to give her "the boot" and not pay for school anymore if she didn't break it off with me. I still got my diploma a year early taking the California High School Proficiency Exam. Got the second highest score in the state that year. Dennis, at fleet maintenance for Mariposa County was the top score. I was interested in the California Culinary Academy - Le Cordon Bleu Program - and just, work With Jessie, and Autumn having just been born, Mariposa typically only having the seasonal work of tourism - motels and restaurants - I saw enlisting in the Navy as a better option to provide. They could pay for school, too. One day while at Jessie's mother's house my brother called me up, "cops are here and want to search the house". "Shit. OK, tell 'em I'll be right over". Pulled in the driveway to find Bryce Johnson of Mariposa County Probation and a couple others. Did a field sobriety check on me and searched the house and travel trailer out back, "Well, if you have any drugs, hehehe, you hid them pretty well". Wtf? He kicked a 12 pack of empty Budweiser cans and asked, " you allowed to jave those"? " Yeah". So, since he didn't find the drugs he was looking for, he wrote me up for having " a makeshift knife". A linoleum knife. My brother is a master carpet layer and does other kinds of flooring. Not allowed to have knives (December 1999 Mariposa Gazette). The probation violation left me hoping the Navy recruiter would show for court so I could still go. I took the ASVAB in Modesto, CA in 2000, and was to do a three day orientation in Sacramento then off to boot camp. Would be lieutenant within a year. I wanted to fly jets. Sooo, in retrospect... Somebody called and tipped them off I was "dealing drugs", it seems. Somebody always watching the back of my house from Frank Longs cattle grazing land on the hill behind the house. The "ninja" that stole my socks. The burglar, the snitch - always sneaking around waiting to snatch every belonging, every opportunity, every relationship in my life from me. Lurking to poison minds when opportunity struck - whenever and wherever. "They're raping me, they're raping me"! From back on that hill 30 years ago. I called up Jessie just to make sure. But see, when I went over for the search, when I was still expecting to go to the Navy - Though somebody told them, "he's just a tweaker"! - I wasn't using meth.

I have lost all faith in Lowe's Home Improvement as a reputable corporation and want to prevent…read moreanyone else from also having a similar experience moving forward. In signing 2 contracts, one for doors and one for windows, and paying over $37K to Lowe's almost 2 years ago, I expected Lowe's to install 4 doors and 18 windows in a reasonable amount of time as the contract stated. Instead, I have been drug through Lowe's employee's inabilities to follow through, the ordering of incorrect product multiple times, the firing of Lowe's employees, the finger pointing for who is to blame, the delay's in every area (from ordering/installation/ response times/compensation decision), installation cancellations the day of, contracting with outside agencies that self reportedly have employee's using drugs, being cut off from contacts and not be handed off to anyone else, being told I do not have access to any of the documents in my file, and being told that I cannot know how or why a decision for the compensation is made because it is internal information. All these factors are inexcusable and should not go unreported for any company. I have not asked for these past 22 months, and I always have been extremely patient and kind when working with Lowe's associates. The number of accommodations my husband and I have been asked to make for 14+ open work orders, multiple deliveries, multiple pickups of incorrect product, storage of incorrect product, lost time at work to accommodate installations, lost time for completing other home projects, countless phone calls and emails, and lack of forward life movement for our lives is beyond what any company should ask of their customers. And then in the end to offer an insulting amount of compensation, $600 over 10%, and force our hands tied in sharing our experience with others is again insulting. Below I have listed a few Lowe's employees' names that have been involved in my very negative experience. I have tried to go through all appropriate chains of command, from store to corporate, to complete my installations and get a reasonable and fair compensation package. Luretta Guhlke - Roseburg, OR store sales consultant Aaron O'Camb - Roseburg, OR store manager Alison (DS manager) - Roseburg, OR store Arnold (regional manager) David Cervantes - Corporate SM Tim and his helper - (Installer for Premier Services) Joe (Installer for Premier Services) Angela B - (Services Project Coordinator) Allie (Premier Services) Alma Friedrich - ISM Amanda B - Lowe's Corporate Customer Care I understand all companies have to watch their bottom lines, however when experiences have gone this wrong from the very start (3 of 4 doors initially ordered wrong & 13 of 18 windows initially ordered wrong) and then continuing to be ordered incorrectly for just shy of 2 years because no one communicated with one another, companies should not expect to profit from their customers or even be able to cover their bottom line. In these situations, companies' focus should be on trying to make a situation right for the customer as the customer did not ask for the company's internal drama. I hope everyone considers this review before choosing to work with Lowe's. I will never again walk into a Lowe's store nor do any business with them.
