First off, the Doctor does know what he is talking about. Unfortunately, there are some issues. I…read moremet the Doctor 20 years ago when I had a knee injury. He treated me twice before telling me I needed surgery. When I told him I only had Medicruz, he flipped and said I should ask my parents for the money to pay forr the surgery. I told him I was 22 and that I was an adult and my parents did not support me. He then commented about the Los Angeles Athletic Club sweatshirt I was wearing and how I could afford a membership there, I should be able to afford his bill. It was my roommates sweatshirt. He ended up doing the surgery, but we never spoke again from that day until recently. I had broken my arm and saw two Doctors who said I needed to be patient. I reluctantly went to him and he said I needed surgery and his associate would do the surgery. The associate did a fantastic job. When I went to Fogels staff to get a note asking that my "Domestic Partner" justify with his employer why he needed two days off (unpaid), his staff said to write up a note and that they could get him to sign it for me. Once they saw that my "DP" was a guy, they told me he didn't, nor did his associate sign off on these for "anyone". They then proceeded to tell me they thought I was asking for a note for myself, not my partner. They also tried to tell me that I would not need ANY assistance after the surgery. When I bypassed Fogels staff and went to his associates head nurse, It turns out that his associate had no issues with us being gay and signed off for two weeks of FMLA for my partner. It seems Fogel's staff needs to be enlightened that FMLA is something the Government put in place for this very reason and that it isn't up to the Doctor to choose who he feels is worthy of qualifying for FMLA.

I have nothing but praise for Dr. Fogel. He has been our family orthopedic MD for years. He…read moretreated my daughter for Osgood Schlatter's, and other members of my family for various orthopedic problems. He was and always has been professional, listened to what we were saying and gave us options. Unlike the other reviewer, I found Dr. Fogel and his staff to be first rate. He has never been rude to us. Nor have I ever seen him rude to other patients. And neither were his staff. On the contrary I found Dr. Fogel to be a nice person as well as very competent doctor. And to boot, he never pushed us into surgery. We were always given the opportunity to try conservative measures first. It turned out that was all we needed for my daughter. I've also phoned him for orthopedic questions related to my children. He has always called back fairly promptly. Dr. Fogel has always been polite and professional and is highly recommended.
