My first visit was in Los Gatos and surgery in Capitola late last year to repair a twisted finger due to painful severe arthritis. Second surgery yesterday at the Silicon Valley Surgery Center in Los Gatos on same hand to eliminate carpal tunnel. It is a challenge to accurately relate to the reader a short version of the pain and frustration and trips to the ER for severe pain I endured since last September mainly cause by my middle finger. I am married to a retired Internal and Cardiologist and was seen by two of the top rated hand surgeons in the valley. After two shots of cortisone which was painful and did nothing long term. The second doctor told me I did not have carpal tunnel. This after two aids came in told me to close my eyes and tapped a couple of places on my hand, asked for a reaction. ( I guess I didn't give the right answer) His expert advice was to go to Stanford but not tell them I had been seen by anyone and see if they could help. Again I wish I could tell you their names. UNBELIEVABLE ! I must also add that my stress level due another health issue is moderate. So is my temperament. Going on line not only did I discover Golden State on Dardanelli Lane Los Gatos it is exactly where my husband had practiced for 60 years. After x-rays he explained the procedure and what he could do to correct my severe twisted finger. He scheduled a Peripheral Neuropathy exam which pin pointed exactly the area causing the numbness to my hand. Both my middle finger which was more invasive and slower to heal is doing well and was compromised due to the carpal tunnel. Dr. Menche is a gifted young man with a warm smile and talented surgeon. He called today to see how I was doing. I feel tip top and SO fortunate to have been his patient. Before I end my mini novel. I must say the entire staff at Golden State are over the top. If I could give the Silicon Valley Surgery Center 10 stars I would. Happy healing to you and thanks for reading!

The tear had begun four years prior and was not diagnosed during an MRI at another doctors' office when I was living in Boston. Dr. Hohn was extremely competent in handling the diagnosis and performing my surgery. Following an MRI to confirm our suspicions that my meniscus was blocking my knee, Dr. Hohn talked me through my options and the potential outcomes of surgery. Worst case scenario: he couldn't fix it and the torn tissue would be removed. Best case scenario: the tear could be mended and I'd have better function in the future. Fortunately, Dr. Hohn was able to repair the tear! I'm 3 months out from surgery now and am feeling great. The knee feels very stable, and my only limitations are from the remaining muscle atrophy. I highly recommend Dr. Hohn. While I am not an MD, I am a PhD in biology, and I can say from my interactions with him that this doctor has a firm grasp on the most modern methods and research in orthopedic surgery. That said, his demeanor can be a bit academic and reserved, so he may be off-putting to some people (see the previous review). If you know the right questions to ask, Dr. Hohn has the knowledge and patience to help you understand your particular situation.

The knee had been evaluated by Dr Abidi and I was told I needed a total knee replacement, this diagnosis made after a quick look at an MRI and without even once looking at the knee or discussing the treatment with me. The surgery was performed six weeks ago and the recovery has been uneventful. I have had good relations with both Dr Heywood and his PA, Chelsea, been treated respectfully and have had options and expectations explained. My only complaint has to do with the waiting time in the office which is often as long as an hour and a half. Fortunately, I have not needed many appointments.

I had an x-ray taken about 6 months before that showed my cartilage was very thin in the area. I had a steroid shot that helped for several weeks by his colleague. My pain had gotten really bad radiating to my knee and down from my hip. Dr. Christophersen said that pain in my knee and down wasn't associated with the hip which isn't true. He wanted me to get another opinion and I would have to go over the hill to the San Jose area to a doctor, I was already in so much pain, He didn't seem to care. His colleague thankfully gave me the name of an orthopedic surgeon from Golden State Medical Group in Capitola. Each time you see a doctor it takes a month to get an appointment, This Dr. took an x'ray. In a month he scheduled me for hip replacement surgery. He also did the anterior approach with is a much quicker recovery than the posterior approach which Dr. Christoffersen performs. Its been four months and I am back at Zumba with little pain. I am thankful to have been sent to this doctor by his colleague. I really felt like Dr. Christophersen had no sympathy for my pain. He could have taken another x-ray and seen it was deteriorating.
