Unfortunately, our interaction with her was extremely unpleasant. She ( black womsn wearing scarf and beanie) was rude in her tone, her demeanor, and in the way she communicated not only to me, but also to my elderly aunt. It was honestly disappointing. What made it stand out even more is that we later met another staff member who was passing out buttons for the kids' show. He was warm, welcoming, and excited to talk about membership and ways to support SFJAZZ. That is the kind of experience that makes you proud to support a San Francisco institution. I'm a local and I genuinely want to support organizations like this, but interactions like the one we had at will call make you second-guess whether you want to give your time and money. And if two of us walked away feeling this way, I'm sure we're not the only ones. Again, the performance and the rest of the experience were great this feedback is only about that one staff interaction. I hope management speaks with her, because the front desk sets the tone for the entire visit, and SFJAZZ deserves to be represented with the same warmth and professionalism that the rest of the team showed.

They explained to the audience how they play mostly originals... jazz, funk, and soul. And they were amazing, adding to the carefree atmosphere at this particular event, doing their thing on the trumpet, trombone, flute, keyboard, drums, and hand percussion instruments. Made for a lovely outing with great weather, good food and drinks (The Cook and Her Farmer), and positive vibes all around.

I remember being enthralled and amazed that so many people would open their hearts so much to sharing music with others. And I remember Faith Petric, the wonderful and inspirational everyday woman who runs it all. I am amazed no one has Yelped about this amazing San Francisco tradition yet. I understand those of us who feel like it is our little intimate slice of what the world should be but let's share it with others. This particular show took place in the living room, but the home's owner, Jack Hanny, is in the process of preparing a basement rec room as the site for future shows; he refers to it as the "naughty pine rec room". Because you are in someone's home, the vibe is very homey, and all attendees are expected to bring food or drink to share with the band and the other patrons. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon, hear some great music, and be home before dark.
