I'm letting you know right now that every review on here with more than 1 star is not a real review. This place is horrible. Long and truthful review incoming: The staff is not welcoming and warm like an eye doctor's office staff should be. If you have plans later that day, do not go to your appointment or you will miss your plans. They leave you in the waiting room for over an hour and say nothing to you until you get up and ask. Then you sit in a second waiting room where the same thing happens and the lady who sits at the desk next to the second waiting room is rude. I went in for a pterygium removal surgery. Joshi messed up my surgery causing scarring and an issue causing so much discomfort that I had to come back 3 days after my surgery for him to fix it. First off they did not even give me pain medication for recovery. They told me to go home and take tylenol and advil and no I am not embellishing. Anyways, He then had me sit in the chair to try and fix his mistake and used metal tweezers in my eye trying to grab and unfold the graft that he had messed up while I was under no medication. This caused me excruciating pain and it was like he did not care. He has ZERO bedside manner as a doctor and acts like you're a burden for having made an appointment, he is not thorough in his explanations and he rushes through everything. The surgery he did on my eye was so bad I had to go to a second doctor to fix the surgery and even that doctor said how poor a job Joshi did on my surgery. It cost $1700 for the surgery which I paid out of pocket. Then over the next two months I was sent a $505.50 bill for anesthesia, a $526.50 bill for cost of surgery, a $250.00 bill for being a new patient, and a $95.00 bill for...who even knows. If you care about your eyes, please do not let this doctor operate on you. Go see someone else and you will thank me later. read more

Met with Dr. Aarchan Joshi in October, 2024 and he said that I had the beginnings of a cataract. He said that he prefers to be conservative and not do surgery unless necessary. My follow-up appt was in April, 2025. The same picture of my eye from my previous appt was displayed. Joshi walked in and said I definitely needed surgery. When I asked him why his diagnosis was different from before, he just left the room saying that they would run more tests. By the end of the three hour appt., he said that I needed cataract surgery in both eyes and wanted to perform it the following week. He also recommended an extremely costly lens and said the surgery would be more expensive due to the size of my eyeballs. I decided to have my eyes checked at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. The doctor said that the cataracts were not impacting my vision and I definitely did not need surgery. read more

My 97 year old mother with Macular Degeneration, my husband, my son and I all go to Dr Joshi. He is THE BEST!! He took care of my Moms cataracts and she said if she knew how easy it was going to be she would have done it a long time ago. We always look forward to our appointments with him because of his knowledge, caring attitude and kindness. When it's your turn you feel like you are his only patient, he will answer all of your questions. I am glad that he is younger than we are so hopefully he won't retire. Thank you Dr. Joshi for diagnosing my double vision, you did what no other opthamologist could do by diagnosing me with strabismus. After several years with my old opthamologist he continued to diagnose me with dry eye syndrome. Two referrals later, the same diagnosis. I thought I was going crazy and made one last attempt to find out why my vision was getting worse. I lost my independence and had my husband driving me everywhere. To my relief and excitement Dr, Joshi made the diagnosis of Strabismus. Joshi offered me prisms but suggested surgery to fix the muscles in my eyes. I ended up having surgery by Dr. Luke Deitz. Dr Joshi is competent but seems rushed. So this review is for the infrastructure of the office As far as the office the wait time is excruciating. Not sure if they triple or quadruple book. Most offices keep metrics to improve patient satisfaction. This place doesn't care at all. Also the lady that kept adjusting my chair to the machine made it worse than a broken roller coaster ride is Vegas. Think it was like her first day. read more

Dr.Joshi changed the quality of my life exponentially! Previously i had Lasik surgery to improve my distance vision in one eye. When it was time to do cataract surgery dr. Joshi cautioned me that it is more difficult to get the same quality result on someone who had previously had Lasik surgery. My research on many sites bore this out. In addition i had astigmatism in both eyes. i had a friend with astigmatism who had cataract surgery with very poor results. i am sure i was not the patient dr. Joshi got up in the morning hoping to see in his office. During these visits dr. Joshi was kind, caring, patient, and took time to explain things to me. My distance vison was the thing i was most interested in. He did that one first. i absolutely was astounded. i read 3 out of 5 letters on the 20/20 line! I was simply joyous. The next week it was time to do the other eye this one for reading. dr. Joshi took time to pinpoint at what distance i wanted to focus. Honestly, i was so happy with the distance correction that i wasn't expecting a great deal. i cannot tell you how much i underestimated the quality of life improvement that i would get from the reading correction. i can see with great clarity the detail of things i never knew existed. my posture has improved because i am not always bending over to look at things. dr. Joshi absolutely nailed the focal point! i never ever would have imagined i could see like this. dr. Joshi is a genius, and while being a genius, he is a very kind, honest, trustworthy and caring man. i would also like to commend dr. Joshi's office staff and optometrist. This is one of the absolute worst medical offices I have ever been to. I went in on a recommendation for my Childs eye injury for a simple follow up. I was told to be there 15 minutes ahead of time but when we got there the staff was at lunch. So began the waiting. My appointment was at 1340. At 1410 I went to ask possibly how much longer it would be as I had another appointment at 1500. The receptionist was nice enough but when he asked the back office staff-they rudely said that they had pts in rooms and other patients to see and they had no idea how much longer it would be. No apology. No acknowledgement of my time wasted. Nothing. Just that they had no idea. So after an hour of waiting, I made an appointment at another facility and we left. If I could give this place negative starts I would. Awful horrible shameful. read more

Dr.Joshi is great and knows his stuff. He will do his best to take care of you. His staff on the other hand is rude. The heavier lady that sits on the other side of the window was rude and condescending to a-lot of the patients. A lot of the patients are older so she talks loud and rude when she has to repeat herself. I found it appalling. When a couple of patients called with questions, again she was very arrogant on the phone, and afterward, you could hear her talking to the other girl about the patients. To be honest, after hearing the staff for about 2 hours, I might find a new eye doctor. read more

Dr. Joshi is the best! I had cataract surgery on both my eyes last year. I hated wearing glasses and my eyes are too dry to comfortably tolerate contacts. Dr. Joshi explained all my options and was able to tweak my lens replacements perfectly so I don't need glasses for anything! I am beyond thrilled. He is very personable and knowledgeable. He explains things in detail. While Dr. Joshi deserves at least 5 stars, I am giving 4 as the staff is often times not friendly. I find the staff experience is an important part of the total experience and stopped going to a doctor in the past because of his staff. The staff in his office is not that bad but it would be great if they were more pleasant. read more

I am my grandmother's caretaker. She has been going to Doctor Joshi for about a year now. She really likes him as a doctor. So this review is not on the Doctor himself but rather his office. Every single time we have had an appointment we have had to wait anywhere from up to 20 minutes to 2 hours. So unacceptable. I do not understand why they even have appointments if they cannot seem to keep them on time. I feel like this is a management flaw. The front desk ladies that I have encountered are always salty and seem like they are having the worst days of their lives! Perhaps another eye doctor with the same abilities but more punctual is a better option. It is just rude! It's rude to his clients! It's rude, because people make it their business to make the appointment on time you would think that maybe the doctor would at least see that! read more

Based on the reviewer below, I researched Dr. Joshi's bg, he has taught at UCLA, does research, and he has worked in County hospitals. If you ever get a county hospital doctor, you should know, they see a lot of patients and have tons of experience. Since I am an iritis patient, I went to see him. During my first appointment, I found him to be quiet a nice fellow and willing to work with me. Mine is a particularly challenging case of recurrent iritis, so I am impressed whenever I see a doc who knows more than I do. I wouldn't hesitate sending my mom or dad to him. read more

This place sucks! I have an optometrist but wanted an appt. with an opthamologist for a more extensive eye exam. I didn't want to pay for an optometry visit again since I didn't need one. and don't have vision care insurance. I scheduled an appt. asking for an opthamologist appt. I was kept waiting for over an hour when a girl came in and said she was sorry the optometrist was running late. I said I didn't want to see an optometrist anyway and thought I was seeing an opthamologist. She said it would be a longer wait in that case and to return to the waiting area. Another hour went by and finally the opthamologist comes in and tells me he can't examine my eyes since I didn't have the regular eye exam first. I explained to him that I have an optometrist and he replied that's not the way they work, that they have to do the whole thing. It would have been nice if someone had told me this. They could have told me when I booked the appt., or when the girl came in and I declined the regular eye exam. She could have said he won't examine you without it, but nobody said a word. Major failure to communicate with the personnel in this office. Then the opthamologist said he could examine my eyes, but that I would have to wait another 45 minutes, so I left, and he didn't do anything. It was a complete waste of my entire afternoon, not to mention the person who drove me because I thought I was having my eyes dilated. Not one person even apologized to me for completely wasting 2 1/2 hour of my time. Unforgiveable! read more

I have never been to an eye doctor before but I was in need of one after having two small metal pieces in my eye. I went to urgent care at 4am and they were not able to get it out, they were obviously not interested, so I left a message at Dr. Joshi's office to see if they could fit me into their schedule. They called as soon as they were in and gave me an appointment first thing and took me into an exam room within 5 minutes. Dr. Joshi was so pleasant and professional which was nice after being uncomfortable for so long. I will not be looking at any other doctors if I am in need in the future. read more

Dr. Joshi was recommended by my primary care doctor and I have been seeing him yearly for the past several years. His staff is largely rude and unfriendly and they tend to overbooks his time. Last year, I waited more than an hour for the doctor after I was led to the exam room. When he arrived he said, "sorry, I was on a conference call". A conference call??? After that experience and the previous appointment where he kept me waiting more than three hours for plug in my eye ducts that took less than two minutes to put it, I should have found another doctor. Maybe I thought the third time would be a charm, but it was actually the straw that broke the camel's back! Yesterday, I had a 3:00 appointment and never saw the actual doctor until 4:45!!! When I expressed my frustration, his attitude was very flippant and it made my blood boil. Never once did he apologize for the inconvenience and I was so pissed I couldn't even concentrate on anything else he said. this office is horrible! I waited over 90 minutes for my appointment, and then left because I had been waiting so long. The staff is rude and they charged us for the appointment even though I WASN'T treated. I would never tell anyone to come here. My mother was having trouble seeing and they told her it was nothing, then she was diagnosed by a doctor that she had Type 1 Diabetes. This doctor's office is the worse office I have ever been to. the nurses are so rude and don't even smile. read more
