Dr. Brar performed cataract surgery on my left eye in October of 2018, and when I went to write this positive review I noticed that a previous reviewer "Bill L." had taken the words out of my mouth. I can't improve upon what he wrote, so here's a recap of what he said in 3 bullet points: (1) I got a really good feeling about him at the initial consultation because, among other things, he dismissed the 'need' for the fancy (and expensive, w/ extra out-of-pocket cost) accommodating and multi-focal IOLs. He said that all I needed were regular IOLs (which are also the cheapest). (2) Dr. Brar performed the surgery at the South Bay Surgical Center (a stones throw from nVision's Torrance office), and the results have been the best vision I've ever had in years (for me, just my left eye) with no complications and no pain. (3) Just as importantly, Dr. Brar has a quiet confidence about him and an unmistakable sense of doing what is best for the patient. He knows what he's doing, and you can sense it . . . all without any arrogance or bragging on his part. I couldn't have put it better. Very poor communication with Dr Brar's office staff. Cancelled my appointment the day before the scheduled appointment. I waited 30 days to see Dr Brar. He was my original Doctor for my cataract surgery in 2020. Now he is nothing but a big medical practice and doesn't care about his patients. It all about money and screw the patient care. He has lost his purpose to be a caring doctor. He just hide behind the incompetent front office staff. I guest he went to medical school just to make money. Shame on you!! I have had the best experience wih Dr. Amarpreet Brar. He is awesome. I had two prior vitrecomies on the right eye with Dr. Julie Gasperini, a retinal specialist. My first vitrectomy was for retinal tear and my second vitrectomy was for macular pucker caused by the previous vitrectomy, leaving me with vision of 20/2000. I went to Dr. Patrick Yeh who said my cataract surgery would be high risk and he predicted posterior capsular break and further vitrectomy. He did not know if laser cataract surgery would work for me and he would have to call the manufacturer. I decided not to go with him and was referred to Dr. Brar by two other doctors. Dr. Brar said he does 2-3 vitrectomized, complex eyes with laser for cataracts per week and not to worry. I now have 20/20 vision in my poor blind eye. It is amazing and a miracle. read more

As someone who has been wrestling with serious myopia (-8.5 and -10 diopters) since he was 13 years old (almost 53 at the time of this writing), I have seen many optometrists and ophthalmologists in my lifetime. In 2007-08 alone, I had consultations with 9 refractive surgeons in greater Los Angeles to get their opinions on fixing my myopia (I was a borderline candidate for Lasik, so some docs were saying "Do Lasik", others "No, the Visian ICL is for you", hence my confusion and desire to get a lot of opinions). Eventually, I decided to go with the Visian ICL (NOT done by Dr. Brar). The results were great for 2.5 years, but ultimately the ICLs caused cataracts. In December 2011, my HMO sent me to a Beverly Hills refractive surgeon to do my cataract surgery. He wanted to upsell me on fancy IOLs (artificial lenses that replace your eyes natural lenses) that I didn't need, but that would have cost me an extra $6500 out-of-pocket. When I told that doctor that I was having second thoughts and wanted to go with 'regular' IOLs (and use post-op Lasik to do the 'touch-up' work that the fancy IOLs would have allegedly done), his office stopped returning my calls. Long story, short: I gave up on that Beverly Hills doctor and, in March 2012, went to the Torrance office of nVision. That's where I met Dr. Brar. I got a really good feeling about him at the initial consultation, as he (a) dismissed the 'need' for the fancy (and expensive, w/ extra out-of-pocket cost) accommodating and multi-focal IOLs that the Beverly Hills doctor had pushed (b) warned me about the unpredictability of those accommodating and multi-focal IOLs (c) said that all I needed were regular IOLs (which are also the cheapest) From there it was a few short weeks until I had two separate out-patient surgeries (no reputable doctor does cataract surgery on both eyes on the same day) by Dr. Brar at the South Bay Surgical Center (a stones throw from nVision's Torrance office), and the results have been the best vision I've ever had in my life with no complications and no pain. Just as importantly, Dr. Brar has a quiet confidence about him and an unmistakable sense of doing what is best for the patient. I'd had the pre-op jitters before my ICL surgery in 2008 (again, NOT done by Dr. Brar), but none of that when I had my cataracts done by Dr. Brar. He knows what the heck he's doing, and you can sense it . . . all without any arrogance or bragging on his part. I had surgery for cataracts in both eyes with Dr. Brar. Immediately after surgery l described for him the "glistenings" l was experiencing with the ALCON ACRYSOF IOL lenses that he implanted. He didn't believe me when l told him what my vision was like. He said, "the surgery went very well and the lenses were placed perfectly". What l tried to tell him was my issue was not with him, but that the lenses he used were crap, but he wasn't having it. I stopped going to see him because he basically told me there was nothing more he could do for me. It is now 10 years after my surgery and l am 59 years old. I guess l have to live with this crappy vision for the rest of my life. Don't respond to messages and if by chance you get through, they will place you on hold for 10 to 20 minutes stating there is another patient ahead of you, just to come back and say, "I'll take a message and walk it directly to the doctor. BULLSHIT.... Dont go there until they change staff. Make them loose money. Go somewhere else where you are important. Staff is only there to get a check NOT help. Dr. Brar is amazing. Went in for lasik (not covered by insurance), turned out I had a cataract (is covered by insurance). Not only can I see better, it cost way less than expected! My appointment was at 9 am. I arrived at 8:30. It's 10:01 and in still sitting in the waiting room. A patient arrived 90 mins after I did and he was just called in. Worse service EVER!!! Scheduled a contact lens exam only as I had just had a comprehensive eye exam the week before through Kaiser. Well apparently they screwed up by giving me a comprehensive eye exam without my knowledge & then trying to bill me for it!!! This office does not even deserve this one star rating. Sylvia the receptionist is rude. I asked for a business card and she through it down on the counter. Sylvia, you choose to work in the public service field, therefore you need some etiquette training so you can have the proper knowledge to provide better customer service to others. Dr. Brar falsified documents for a patient stating things she did not tell him and sent it to her primary physician. If you choose to receive services from this office, ask for a visit summary because they do not give them to you like other offices. I would never recommend this place. read more

I am not reviewing them on their medical service, I am reviewing them on their office staff. I was receiving repeated fax tone calls and called their office to ask them to take me off of their list. After asking the receptionist for assurances that this would be done, she purposely hung up on me in the middle of me talking. I could not believe a medical office staff would be so unprofessional. I called the Office Manager and she told me she will handle it. But it makes you wonder if the staff would just hang up on a caller, how do they treat their patients and run their practice? Dr. Brar is great! My girlfriend Ivy has been wearing glasses for as long as she can remember. She had Dr. Brar operate on her and now she's finally glasses free. What I liked about Dr. Brar is that he made us feel very secure and safe. He walked us through the entire process letting us know what to expect. Its very nerve wrecking to have someone operate on your eyes, but he and his staff did such a wonderful job at making us feel comfortable. Ive been coming here for about 2 years now. This optics is nearby my work, so one day I decided to stop by and I must say I am completely beyond satisfied with my decision coming here. When I first arrive here I remember I didn't even hold my insurance card with me that day of my appointment (pretty stupid I know) but front desk was nice enough to pull it out for me which was extremely nice of them. Not one individual was ever rude. The doctors here were very helpful and explained different methods we can go about correcting my vision. Marissa who works back office in the frame department was extremely helpful, she was also extremely nice. Overall, I'm very happy with this optic office. =) read more
