New Indian Restaurant right by Li Cha Tea! Spacious place, gave off a fancy dining kind of feel. Only ordered to go so far, not entirely sure about indoor experience, but the people in the front are nice and answered whatever questions I had. They finished my orders pretty fast and consistent. Had them 3 times and my orders always came out by 15-20minutes after ordering. I have no real complaints, that's why 5 stars! I enjoyed their butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and their shahi paneer. Smooth flavors, spiced and creamy. I will say however, they're not that spice compared to other places. I say that, because I usually struggle eating medium spicy, but I was able to eat their normally already spicy chicken tikka mandala. So if you like your food spicy, let them know and they will add more kick for ya! read more

Went mid-November as they were ramping up the opening of the new location in Livermore. Apologies for not noting the names of the dishes (will update later when I visit again). Tasty and beautiful presentation. Clean environment. Owner KC was very friendly and attentive to new parties. The restaurant business is not for the faint of heart! Wait time was a little longer than my tummy desired, but hey, Americans are impatient (helloooo, this is not a drive-thru!), and when the food arrived it looked great and was yummy. You could tell there was great care in the preparation of the dishes. Look forward to visiting again, trying all the various dishes over time, and especially to support local small business! My coworker and I tried this place today and were greeted by the owner, K.C., who was very welcoming and happy to answer our questions, since neither of us had tried Nepalese food before. We decided to stick with the Indian side of the menu this time so we could compare it to dishes we already know. We shared a Lamb Vindaloo and Chili Chicken, with a Veggie Samosa to start. The prices were very reasonable and the food was excellent. The lamb was tender with very little fat, and the Chili Chicken had great seasoning. We ordered both dishes "spicy," and the heat level was decent. I will definitely ask them to turn up the spice when I go back in a couple of days. read more

We are so happy that they opened so close to our house. Cuisine is a combination of Nepalese & Indian. We ordered the Pani Puri, Jhol Momo, Butter Chicken (with rice), and Onion Kulcha. It was the perfect amount of food for two people. I wasn't familiar with momo, but they are essentially a steamed and fried dumpling (amazing!!). The owner is so kind and happy to explain the food and how it's made. We can't wait to go back and try a few new things (re-ordering the Jhol Momo of course). 20% off for the month of November. My boss and I came here for lunch. KC(the owner) was extremely welcoming and kind and was happy to tell us about any dish while we mulled over the menu. We ordered the Pani Puri and Mango Lassi. Both were great! My boss went with the Lamb Tikka Masala (not pictured) and I ordered the Chicken Thali. I asked about it coming with Butter chicken, KC said "no it's the chicken curry" and before I could respond he smiled and said he'd be happy to do it with Butter Chicken for me anyways! This is our favorite Indian restaurant ever! Our family of 10 has already returned to Aama's Kitchen for Sunday suppers 4 times since our first visit. Our group has an age range that includes an 83 yo, 63 yo, 55yo, 44yo, 43 yo, 15yo, 14 yo,13yo, 10 yo and 4 yo with different tastes and different tolerance for spice and we ALL absolutely LOVE this spot! The best naan in the world, the most flavorful butter chicken and tikka masala, steamed and spicy momos, weirdly uniquely delicious French fries, and every time we come, we order a new dish that we fall in love with. The kids beg to return, we clean our plates. The atmosphere is cheerful, bright and family friendly. The staff is attentive (very busy), friendly, hard working and generous (we were treated to a special dessert at our last visit.) I whole-heartedly recommend Aama's - the food, the service and the atmosphere are all top notch at a great value. So we were so excited to try this place out.. Short story, we'll give them another try but there are things they could do better. We arrived for a lunch and were greeted and seated pretty quickly.. The menu has a great variety.. we settled on the items below. Chicken Pakora Lamb Sekuwa Saag Aloo Jhol Momo Chicken Garlic Cilantro Naan Masala Chai As we were the first ones there, I'm not sure if the kitchen wasn't set up, but our food took a longer time to come out than I would've thought . Everything but the lamb was good. Lamb was way over cooked and tough. We asked for the Naan without cilantro as our daughter had the gene that makes everything taste like soap. They accommodated us but then the lamb comes covered with cilantro.. Really.... ?!?? The Saag Aloo & Jhol Momo Chicken were fantastic Another observation was that the gentleman who was in charge of the front spent more time in the kitchen and folks had to wait to be seated.. I'd like to suggest that they warm their plates before placing the food on it. Our food in its entirety was lukewarm and cooled off very fast. Preheating the plates would have helped this I feel. Omg the food we ordered completely exceeded our expectations! This is our 2nd time here and their steamed momo is so delicious! I came here with my young daughter. She is four, but she tolerates mildly spicy food pretty well and will eat beans and Indian food, so I thought this would be a safe bet for her. I wasn't quite right about that when it came to the momo dumplings and the samosa chaat. They were too spicy for her. But the thali came next, and she loved the baignan bartha (eggplant), gulab jamun, dal, and of course the rice. Pros: -Overall, the food was delicious. I never thought I would encounter baignan bartha to rival Star Chaat (another spectacular restaurant, but in Dublin). This was at least as good! To me, the baignan bartha and samosa chaat were the real standouts of the meal. Pickle was uniquely amazing, too. It was a little more tangy than most of the Indian pickles I have tried. The balance of spicy, tangy, and salty was very good. I like spicy food, so I loved this. Caveats: - There were no real cons to our experience, but there are some caveats or qualifiers. First, there's no children's menu, so maybe come here with a good idea of what to get for kids and how much spiciness they can tolerate in food. My daughter can tolerate some spicy stuff, but if my six-year-old son was present he would probably just subsist on flatbread. -They don't offer to change the spice levels in food. Some places will ask upfront about the amount of chilis to add (spice level 1-10; mild, medium or hot), but this one doesn't. If you're with someone who doesn't like spicy food, you're going to have to speak up about it yourself and maybe be willing to change your order a bit. Don't take my word for it, though! They are doing a promotion: for the opening month of November everything is 20% off. You should go there and try it out yourselves. read more

Delicious Food and Delightful Service. We (6 people) tried Aama's last week and ordered half of the offered appetizers to start. Every item was tasty, especially the house special Steamed Momo (chicken dumplings) and the Gobi Manchurian (deep fried cauliflower w/Manchurian sauce) . We look forward to trying the appetizers we missed out on next time. All of the entrees (butter, tikka masala, aloo gobi & biryani) were tasty. We also tried every type of hot, delicious naan goodness they offered. The buttered naan (and the roti) is still a favorite but the garlic cheese naan a close second. We also liked the papadam enough to get 3 orders. We finished up with the homemade Kulfi (a type of ice cream -we got both the mango and the pistachio) which was garnished with homemade watermelon candies. We finished with chi teas all around and left feeling satisfied, with very happy stomachs. Did I mention that the server's recommendations as well as the overall service were excellent? Make no mistake, this was a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience and we look forward to our next meal there. read more
