We were recommend to seek out proper Rideshop for training by a local skate shop. He started with Proper and very quickly became a great skater. He is so happy with the coaches and how they are great mentors and motivators... he is excited to show them when he finally gets that new trick and they are just as excited for him. We love Proper!! Dragon Boat Race 2022…read more When I first saw the posting on Facebook, I just couldn't imagine a cardboard dragon boat on land. Somehow, Chinatown 808, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and the Honolulu Chinese Jaycees, together with the sponsors American Savings Bank and USA Federal Credit Union, had a great idea to revitalize Chinatown with this event... At A'ala Park. Most residents of Honolulu avoid A'ala Park because of the homeless who hang out around the park. However, A'ala Park is known also for its popular Skate Park here. Some of the features of A'ala Park are: Small, free parking lot Water fountain (I wouldn't recommend it) Restroom (I think it was cleaned up for us) Basketball Court Large, open, flat grassy area I usually just drive past this park. I only stayed here for seven hours because of the Dragon Boat Race on 7-30-22. Special thanks to American Savings Bank for the Security. They watched our belongings while we were on the field and chased away a flasher who ran across the park!

Where is this park located? If you live on the east side........Waialae-Iki Park is just next door to the Blue Ribbon school - Kalani High School (known for their powerhouse football team! Buwahahahahaha! J/k!). The park itself features a very large "green grass field" which I find most times is used for soccer activities. This park also has a basketball court, a jungle gym apparatus so that the little ones and play & have fun. There is also a restroom, picnic tables & park benches on the park premises. Parking is available, as there is a private parking lot. If the parking lot is full, there is lots of free street parking along the perimeter of the park. With all that's going on during this difficult time, I'm glad the City & County of Honolulu reopened the parks recently, as it gives us a place to exercise and to escape from our lock down in our homes.

Magic Island is a nice place to gather, catch up, and chat. It is close to the ocean/beach, so you get to experience both a park as well as the beach. (This should be good in terms of fengshui.) Hello all skaters!…read more If you're interested in learning how to skates, come check out APB Skateshop and get your first skateboard with them. We were welcomed by Maynard. He seemed knowledgeable about skateboarding. He talked about the speed and acceleration. Skateboard wheels come in different sizes, design, colors, and durability. It's important to know how fast or slow you're moving and if you're looking for an easier or a little harder in turning those wheels. He recommended what is best for beginners without any knowledge of skateboarding. Maynard helped from start to finish. He helped with selecting the wheels, trucks, bearings and axle nuts. I love how he likes to get you involved in putting it together. The experience made it more enjoyable than just having to watch him. This place is located in Chinatown so parking is a little harder to find. You're lucky if you can get street parking. If not, there's a parking lot that charges $5 for the day. It's a bit much but if you plan your day accordingly then it's worth it. You can plan to have breakfast or lunch then check out the open market then hit APB Skateshop for your skateboards supplies! My son loves coming here, we bring a big bag of oats and feed the ducks, chickens, and birds. Be careful though as the birds go CRAZY here. The moment you throw some food, they come flying in droves. Haha so if you are not a bird person, forget bringing feed, haha. Right now there are 3 cute ducklings and a handful of baby chicks. So tiny and cute. The pond also has a bunch of Koi fish and fat tilapias. Great little spot to relax, small picnic, and get some fun feeding animals. First review if 2024!…read more I brought my kids here just days after they saw the movie ' Migration'! They absolutely loved being here at the springs, I know, because they didn't even want to leave when I offered to take them to the playground just across the street. They looooved seeing the ducks and koi fish most! The pigeons were a bit much. We had sat in the little bleacher looking area, but had to move because all the pigeons started pooping after some kids fed them... I brought then to the Kunawai Springs specifically because I knew about the ducks, although I hadn't been here before! We had so much fun though! We're doing a 1000 hours outside challenge this year, 2024, so I've been looking into different outdoor activities for our family to partake in! We'll definitely be coming back here, the kids enjoyed it so much. Coming here brought back so much memories for many of our family members. I brought the kiddos here, took lots of pictures, and when I posted them, they all messaged me that they used to all come here when they were younger, and used to even swim I the pond?!?! Anyways, lots of fun! We'll be back!
