I made an appointment online the day before to sign up for TSA Pre-check. I was helped at the time of my appointment, my documents were reviewed, and I had to wait a few minutes in the mid room waiting area. The man that helped me with the sign up process started off very formal, but began making small talk about my travel plans and his past trips to the same area while we waited for his machine to load (it glitched in a few parts of the process, but nothing major). He was very personable! To sign up for pre-check AND to get passport photos taken while I was there only took me 50 minutes altogether, with a slight wait in between. I didn't realize you could do both of these services here, so I was happy to knock out 2 tasks I'd been avoiding at once. Very convenient large parking lot and easy overall experience. My photos were free thanks to my level of AAA membership status. They did not take the photo at the most flattering angle, which I feel like could have been avoided, but overall I was very pleased with how smooth both processes were. read more

I had a mechanical issue with my car yesterday and it was towed to an impound yard by a non AAA affiliated tow truck. This morning I called and got a AAA tow truck to come and tow the car to the dealership for repair. The driver whose name was Gilberto was fantastic. He was beyond friendly, so helpful, courteous, friendly and kind. The drive to the dealership in the tow truck was made all the better by Gilberto's joyous nature. Anyone who happens to need a tow and ends up with Gilberto is extremely lucky indeed. read more

My husband and I needed to get an International Driving Permit (IDP). I researched online what documents I needed to either apply in person at a AAA Travel office or apply by mail. Thinking that it will be easier to go in person, I went to AAA located at 110 Royal Little Drive in Providence, RI. This office was not too far from the I-95, big, and there are plenty of parking spots. When you walk in, you are greeted by a receptionist and I told him I was here for an IDP. He directed me to the office on the left. This space was huge and spacious with a waiting area with chairs and staff members. We got on line and was helped by Tarah G. We gave her our IDP application, two original passport pictures, valid U.S. driver's license, and a check for $20 which is the permit fee. Within 15 minutes, we got our IDPs and were done. This was such an easy process and Tarah was very friendly and helpful. If this is a sign of how good AAA customer service is, then I trust that AAA will be there when you need them. read more

I'm very disappointed with the roadside assistance service I received from AAA on November 6, 2025. I called at 4:50 p.m., and the representative told me a tow truck would arrive in about 90 minutes--around 6:45 p.m. Instead, the truck didn't arrive until 7:55 p.m., more than an hour late. During the wait, I received over five calls from AAA and the towing company, each saying the driver was only 20-25 minutes away, which turned out to be untrue and very frustrating. When the tow truck finally arrived, I didn't get home until 9:00 p.m. The driver also tried to leave my shifter knob unattached, and I had to insist it be reconnected. On top of that, my car was parked with one tire on the curb, which was completely unprofessional. Overall, the service was slow, poorly communicated, and handled carelessly. I expected much better from AAA and hope they take steps to improve reliability and communication for future customers. read more

I had been a loyal AAA customer for 20+ years. Once they became an insurance company, everything went south. I paid for my overpriced policy up front and in full, only to be shorted on my refund of unused premium. The theft was so egregious and so blatant that I reported them to the state AG's office. I have never been treated so unprofessionally. Representatives are rude and ill-informed. They clearly take their customers for granted and have no intention to keep them. I would avoid AAA at all costs, even for roadside assistance. The only thing they do right is sell movie tickets. This is an unethical company and a classic bad faith insurance company. read more

My girlfriend came here to get a new license plate since her current plates were corroding. We got there a few minutes before noon and she was seen within a few minutes. The employees were friendly, efficient and seemed to be well informed. One tip for the EV/Hybrid folks is that they have a couple of parking spots with chargers. Unfortunately, you will have to pay for the charging and I rather get the free charging locations (who doesn't?). I was on my way to bring my son his Christmas gifts. I had to stop on Valley Parkway to drop off my grandchildren for an appointment. I put my car in park.When I went to put my car in drive to leave, the shift wouldn't shift I kept trying to no avail I called AAA at approximately 2:03 PM on Friday, 2 January I was told that it would be 342 before someone would get to me. I was told that as the driver got closer, I would see a map and be able to track his progress toward me. This never happened. There was no communication from AAA at all to me. It was very cold out and about 330 when I still hadn't seen a map of the person coming to me for 342 I called AAA they had no idea what kind of truck I needed to tow my vehicle that was determined on my first phone call. Now I'm still told that they're going to contact the dispatch and they kept putting me on hold then they were going to talk to their supervisor on hold again now it's getting late. it's starting to get darkand colder. I have asthma cold air triggers asthma. No one cared to even bother calling to see how we were doing in that cold for that long.I called at 2:03 in the afternoon. It is now after 4 PM. I kept calling and kept giving the runaround hold on hold on hold on that's all they knew how to say and I'd be on hold my battery on my phone dying because I don't have the charger for it in the car.I can't feel my feet on my hands.They finally tell me they have no help.They're telling me all someone will be there. It was all a bunch of lies just to keep me quiet.I finally got where there was an actual person coming toward me in Prov. He finally got to us probably around six 6:30 PM and it was very apologetic. He was a very nice guy.and was told that he was called in. as he was doing this he noticed that this was not his regular truck and the tools, etc., that he needed to work with to secure the tires were rusty, and he was unable to properly put the car up in a safe manner he called his boss to see if someone could come drop off better straps for him and his boss told him to deal with it to make do to figure it out. This boy was great. He was fantastic. He did what he had to do. He was freezing trying to secure my car onto the flatbed in a safe manner with faulty instruments. His supervisor should be suspended or maybe fired. He was sitting in a nice warm place probably home by that time having a nice dinner while he didn't want to be bothered having another person bring proper equipment to secure my vehicle had something happened. It would've been on the supervisor. I didn't get home until after 7:30 from sitting in that parking lot at 1:30 dropping off my grandchildren and calling AAA at two for roadside assistance. This was a very unacceptableWait time. I don't care how busy I was actually told that it was inclement weather. The sun was shining. I don't know what this person was trying to make me believe, but the weather was not inclement except for it was very cold and that's not going to prevent a truck from coming out on dry pavement to pick up another vehicle. They lied they made stories they kept putting me on hold. They told me a dispatcher was going to call me at approximately 4 o'clock. I was told this the dispatcher will be calling you.never got a call . It was all a bunch of bull.The only reason I purchased it is because my son is on my account. That's the only reason and I was happy to have it this time.I could've walked home. I could have walked that 13 or 14 miles faster than it took AAA to come and get us we could have frozen to death.We were hungry. We had to use the bathroom we are frozen no blankets not prepared for this at all and no one ever communicated with us to find out how we were doing for all those hours not one communication that's what pissed me off. They didn't care it was a weekday and there was no excuse for not calling to make sure we were OK or to send help to keep us warm. I feel that they should make good for what they put me through. It was very traumatic. It was terrible. A couple of days later I got a text survey wanting to know how my experience was well I certainly told them how I felt in great detail and no one ever called me to apologize nothing there is no communication coming out AAA offices no communication at all but yet they're there with their hands out collecting your money for the service that they can barely keep up with. I am an AAA member and have been for many Many years. My car broke down. I called for assistance and had to wait 2.5 hours. The tow service person arrived and told me he could not assist me. Right before he arrived I was tracking him and my tracking showed as he pulled in it went black like it was wiped out/removed. He told me he wanted to help me but could not.AAA had canceled out his service to Help me. My grandfather bought me an AAA membership when I got my license nearly 25 years ago and has renewed it automatically for me each year as part of my birthday gift. I always thought it was a nice gesture to make sure that I had support if my car ever had problems as I was traveling. Admittedly, I've only used their roadside service three times since being a member, twice for flat tires and once for a dead battery. Other than that, I have used their DMV services twice in the past 10 years - both times to renew my license. While it's a WAY BETTER option than visiting the RI DMV, I'm not sure that I'd invest in an AAA membership if I had to pay for it myself since I don't take advantage of any other perks. The staff in the walk in area of the headquarters are efficient and knowledgeable and wait times are far more reasonable than visiting the RI DMV. Today I visited to get a Real ID. Once you enter, you wait in a short line to make sure that you have the right paperwork and everything that you need for them to help you today. Once they have determined that you have all the correct documentation, you are placed in a queue and wait for someone to call your name. They even provide you with pens and clipboards to fill out the necessary paperwork and comfy chairs to sit in while you wait for someone at the counter to assist you. All in all, I was in and out within an hour and no worse for the wear. They also have a tech charging station in the waiting area, including cables that connect with most current cell phones, which was another helpful extra. read more

Last Saturday night at 8:00pm my car broke down in Smithfield RI. I called AAA for a tow and was told it would be a while because they were backed up. At 10:00pm I called back and was informed I had to be patient and they would be there in a timely manner. At 11pm I called back and the person that answered the phone said, "Oh I'm sorry I forgot to dispatch your tow" What..... OK so when is the tow going to be here? The dispatcher said it will be at least an hour. A little after 12am I called again only to be told they were trying to find a tow for me and to hang tight. I called back 4 more times until a little after 3 when I was told, "I'm sorry, but we can't get you a tow, leave the keys in the car or call another tow company". 10 minutes later I get a call back from AAA who stated that they were working on getting me a tow truck, by 4:00am still nothing. I made a final call to AAA and was told there was nothing they could do and to call another tow company. At 4:38 my Uber came and I was able to get home. The next day (Mothers Day) I made it back to my car and had to wait 3 more hours until the tow truck arrived. I filed a complaint with AAA and was told the best we can offer you is 25% off your next renewal. AAA left me stranded from 8:14 Saturday until 4:28 in the morning and they offered me $25 in compensation. Great Job AAA you went above and beyond. My questions are, why do you offer 24/7 tow service when it is clear it is not true and why do you say "Your safety is our #1 concern when it is clear it is not? read more

I only chose 1 star because I was forced to choose something. I needed a tow on a Sunday and called AAA, I told them the car was in a parking garage..3 hours later they sent a flatbed..the driver said he wasn't able to do it because of it being in a garage, he called AAA and informed them of what was needed. I got a text saying the time of arrival would be between 4:30 and 5:30, at 5:50 I called to see where the second truck was and after being put on hold numerous times the representative came back and said "I don't know what to tell you, let me transfer you to my supervisor." The supervisor got on the phone and said "We can't find anyone to do the tow." To say I was livid would be an understatement, I had sat with the vehicle for 6 hours, no food or drink as there was nowhere around me to get anything and I was afraid to leave the vehicle in case they came. I ended up calling a tow company that is not affiliated with AAA and had to pay out of pocket $550.00, Sunday rates, this company does not work with AAA because they don't pay them promptly. I am still waiting 2 weeks later for reimbursement only to find out they need a more detailed receipt, gee maybe someone could've called me and told me that instead of me again having to call them and sit on hold to find this out. We have had a terrible experience with AAA Northeast homeowner's insurance. They did not want to admit and confirm that our recent basement water damage/flood was covered under our policy. They were slow to respond and offered only excuses and delays rather than reassurance and basic help. They tried to deny coverage and were the cause of a several week delay in getting the water damage properly cleaned up. We now have a mold issue. They promise the sun, moon and starts before we signed on as clients and boy do we regret it. They have no sense of urgency in assisting clients during these unfortunate and upsetting events but that is why you pay their high insurance premiums-in the event the worst should ever happen. Please do not make the same mistake we did by becoming clients of AAA Northeast or Motor Club insurance. They do not even have adjusters based out of RI. I made an appointment for 10AM on a Saturday morning to renew my license. I had to "check in" and wait until I was called for DMV services, which was expected. A woman came in around 10:05AM although she had an 11:30AM appointment (I could hear their conversation). Instead of checking her in and serving the next customer (me), the AAA person proceeded to renew this woman's license! Even after another AAA person (the one that checked me in) TOLD her that I was waiting, she STILL proceeded to renew the other woman's license! I purchased homeowners insurance via AAA, having had excellent experiences with them with car insurance in the past. This new experience, however, was APALLING. I am a senior female and have dealt with all sorts of insurance companies and coverage throughout my life. I have never had to deal with anything like this. My homeowners insurance on a newly acquired property in Providence, RI., was cancelled for no good reason. Payment was not the matter: it was escrowed with the mortgage. After speaking with a rude representative - he was in another state- who insisted that their inspector had never seen the property (I opened the door for her myself) and proferred a number of fallacies, I went in person to the local AAA office. The nightmare really started the. After seeing three different set of people and getting shifting and mutually contradictory stories on why the house could not be insured and what needed to be done to address the matters that prevented it from being insured, I went with the company suggested by the mortgage holder. (Incidentally, their inspector report surfaced, at my insistance, in the interim.) The house was built in 1900, I bought it in 2019. It had been fully and properly insured previously. I had it inspected by a highly reccommended inspector prior to acquiring it, and implemented his reccommendations. I have never experienced anything like my recent dealings with AAA, or in my entire life (which is not short). The house is in the most desireable neighborhood of Providence, RI. I am highly educated and financially sound. I cannot believe that incompetence can fully account for what transpired. All I have left to surmise is that, beeing an ethnic minority, I have been discriminated against. At any rate, I strongly suggest that you stay clear of AAA insurance. read more

I requested a tow through AAA on 8/26 for my car on the side of the highway and the tow driver's negligence damaged the rear differential by placing it on a wheel lift when my car is AWD. Despite placing a claim through AAA as soon as it happened, I was without a car and forced to pay out of pocket for a rental for almost a month as my car was repaired by 9/25. The repair itself took less than a day to complete but my car sat at the shop for that whole time due to AAA and the tow company refusing to pay for my car to be repaired and for AAA dragging their heels with the claim, blaming me for the delays when I had everything they needed as soon as it was asked for. The member service representative, Adrienne West, was unresponsive to multiple email and call attempts and was unhelpful in resolving issues with the tow company. As a paying member, I am very disappointed in the service I received for calling AAA to tow my vehicle and I will be very hesitant to use them for any future roadside assistance. read more

A 11am call for roadside assistance resulted in a response time frame of immediately to two hours. We waited but received no updates or service. At 1pm, a man assisted us with a battery jump and we proceeded on our way. At approximately 315, we received a text telling us to go out to the car and the truck would meet us! I am really disappointed in AAA..my tire blew on rte 3 right before exit 4 in NH (Nashua) today I was able to get to right shoulder and proceeded to call AAA. I was on hold for at least 15 minutes while cars flew by me going 70 MPH+ before I spoke to a live person. Then I told the lady my.location and she couldn't find my location..she then proceeded to put me on hold for another 10 minutes. Weather it's renewing my membership in December and told it's not active until April (because someone else on the account renewed in April) so I lose a few months of service. And today when I went in to try and get anymore information the lady that was helping me was nothing but attitude towards me and yelling at me. She's lucky my mom raised me right but if she was a man she would have been lates the hell out. I will be going back again tomorrow I made 6 different appointments to take care of 6 different things and then I think I'll be dropping my AAA membership with them. AVOID AAA auto insurance. You many as well hold your wallet up to your head and pull the trigger. I have been a customer of AAA for many years, and used them for both my auto and home insurance for the past few years since moving back to R.I. In December of 2020, I was hit by another car trying to pass me on my right side while driving down the right lane of a four lane un-divided highway in another state. Had I been hit harder, I could have been bounced into oncoming traffic. I thought the other car was having a medical emergency, or maybe a stuck gas pedal--I didn't know. It hit the snowbank a couple of times putting dents in my side doors. I tried to run it into the snow bank to stop it, but it slid out behind my car. I stopped right in front of it so it could not go anywhere. Based on what the lady driving that car told the officer, and before I had a turn to explain what had happened--the officer issued me a citation for not using care when turning? I told him I would be taking it to court. I had to wait four moths for my court hearing due to covid. In the meantime my insurance renewal bill for my autos arrived from AAA with a hefty premium increase. I called to question the amount and was told my rate had gone up because I was issued a citation for being at fault for that accident. I explained I was still waiting for my day in court, and was certain I would be judged to be not at fault. The AAA spokesman told me I would have to pay the increased charge to renew my policy, but they would refund the extra money if I was found to be not at fault and sent them a copy of that document. I was found not at fault and sent the court document to AAA insurance. I did not hear back nor receive a refund. When I called to inquire I spent a lot of time on hold. I pressed "1" for a call back. No luck. Then I called the lady in the claims department I had spoken to at the time of the accident. She transferred me to a supervisor. At first, the supervisor told me they had no record I had been found to be not at fault. Then they wanted more pictures. Then they wanted a revised police report. Police do not revise police reports, that's why they have traffic courts. The AAA auto insurance company is trying to make me run their gauntlet to get my money back that they promised me months ago. My policy is coming up for renewal again for both of my autos and my home insurance. They are STILL over-charging. Chances of me renewing with AAA Insurance are slim. If this could happen to me, it could happen to you. I drove my own company trucks for over forty years and never received one citation. For the exception of being rear-ended a few times, I was never even involved in an accident. Never had an accident when I flew aircraft or drove motorcycles. Never even ever accused of being the driver that caused an accident when I raced stock cars for years up in New England. I sent AAA a review of this incident with more details, but no response. If you are reading this review--you will know I never got my money back. I spent my last year in the military on a base in the jungle in Vietnam, while some living in the jungle spent that year trying to kill me and everyone else on that base. I survived Vietnam and I will survive AAA insurance. When we used to come across a land -mine, we always warned those coming up behind us. AAA auto insurance is like a land mine just waiting for more customers waiting to come along. I did try one more time to fix this issue. I left a 2 messages with my phone number the past 2 weeks--but still no call back. I went into my local AAA office today. I was informed AAA Insurance company records still show I was issued a citation and causing an accident, Any insurance company checking on me for a rate will be given this information, even though I was cleared in court and ruled not to be at fault and have a clean record with the Registry of Motor Vehicles. I guess they may have me over a barrel after all. Waiting for a call back from AAA to see if anything can be done. to be continued. Today is 9/27/21. FINAL UPDATE. 10/02/21 It turns out that AAA Insurance has a web site that is checked by insurance companies checking for info about people applying for insurance. They still have me shown as receiving a citation and causing an accident, and they paid the driver of the car that hit me five thousand dollars or so to fix damages to her car. They are still going to charge me a few hundred dollars a year extra for three years If you are reading this review, you will know I never received my refund. Awful experience with AAA auto glass - would not recommend at all - cheap glass was installed and broke within three weeks - technicians refused to recognize the potential defect in the glass and honor the warranty. Not work the hassle of chasing down $300 any more - complete waste of time - I will never use this service again. Awful. read more

HOOOOOOOOORRRIIIBLE! Had my two kids take their $400 each driving classes all included, and one of the instructors was panicking about my kid behind the wheel. When the call center was contacted to inquire what else we could do after investing and not having either kid who is not diagnosed with any cognitive condition not passing, a woman rudely insisted that there was nothing she could do and didn't suggest anything at all. When asked to talk to someone superior she insisted there's nothing anyone else could have done for me. Not satisfied with her answer I hung up and she continues to harras my son and me via cell phone and email. Took my kids to a local driving school called Mejia's, they both passed????????? read more

I would give it zero stars if I could, AAA tow truck driver scraped the underneath of my car when towing it out of my driveway and told me "it's not a big deal"- customer service told me there's nothing they can do about it after they had gotten initial pictures of the damage AND had someone meet me for assessing the damage. read more

I have to admit, I absolutely LOVE AAA, and this AAA in particular. After I was faced with the cruel, harsh reality that is the RI DMV, I joined AAA and have never, ever (not once) looked back. If you've ever waited all day, or a few hours, or even just 30 minutes at the DMV, you need to get with the program and join AAA. I went in to get my license renewed, and was awe-struck by their efficiency and demeanor. Kindness! Humor! Quickness! I was in and out with a brand new license to drive within 15 minutes - for real. A joy, I tell you. Not only can you get your license renewed (and your photo taken, to boot) but they do all the other special AAA things you want, too. Like, fix a flat or give you a tow when peril suddenly and unexpectedly strikes. They towed me and my sadness off of 93 in the Williams Tunnel one cold, dark January night and drove me all the way back to PVD in the driving snow. That's love, people. Straight up love. read more
