My issue was with hidden ludicrous pricing markups for parts! Not their professionalism and competence. My trust was abused, and as like with many customers, not being savvy with the actual cost of the parts, I had been happy with their service and been giving them 5* reviews and recommendations. Until a charge of $149 (excluding their Maintenance Agreement "Discount") for a fuse raised a red flag. A fuse that retails for $2.50 each?? Response from Eric: "The cost for the repair is for the fuses, A tech to go out and troubleshoot the unit, gas , ins etc. So, the fuses we know are minimal cost but we do have to pay the tech. And have overhead cost to run the business." But hey! I had a service contract for which the call out/attendance was for that contractual maintenance. ****** That prompted me to review historical invoices for the cost charged for previous parts changed: charging $150 for an item which retails for $8.22...a premium of 1725%..... charging $180 for an item which retails for $12.99...a premium of 1286% charging $180 for a fuse which retails for $2.50 (highest price found $6.50)...a premium of 781% ....is reasonable? A supposed maintenance was done on May 23, 2017 during which Algae treatment was to have been applied. Yet just three days later, i suffered a flood in which the problem was.......... you guessed it.......condensate pan and line fully compacted with Algae. A Float switch which retails for only $14.24 was installed at a charge of $111.00. The list was endless. I had already paid for their attendances to my property via my maintenance agreement. THERE SHOULD BE TRANSPARENCY!! I would have preferred to pay any company the seemingly standard/upfront "$75 call out charge (for "A tech to go out and troubleshoot the unit, gas , ins etc" per Eric's response above) ....PLUS the reasonable retail cost of parts" Than have AAA Modern Air exploiting my trust built up over four years based upon professional courtesy to hide such unreasonable mark ups on parts. All my historical invoices I then discovered I had been ripped off! On June 29, 2015, charged $330 for two items which retail at a total of $21.21. And I had taken up their $150 service contract on very same day?? The premiums were so ludicrous that they were brazen! They are professional, courteous and very friendly, so you do not suspect anything wrong! Until that $2.50 fuse being marked up so greedily raised a red flag. Felt after the fact just as if my pocket was "pilfered" but with a friendly smile. Transparency would have gone a long way because no way can such mark ups be justified when the call out was under routine scheduled maintenance. Them subsequently trying to justify the ludicrous mark ups felt like they were pi**ing me and telling me it's raining! This was my only reason to stop using them. They were good but nobody likes being ripped off like this! Very disappointed!! read more

I called on Tuesday because my A/C was apparently failing. Still worked, but was making weird sounds and didn't cool as usual. I spoke to Louie and he said the first appointment available was Friday morning from 9 to 12. I agreed. I called 9 AM on Friday to confirm they were coming. I was told by a lady that I was the 3rd appointment scheduled. I then waited, waited, waited. 11:45 AM got a call fro Louie to tell me he was "trying to help other customers" and he cancelled my appointment. Said he could send somebody later in the afternoon (until 6 PM) but not in the morning. First time in my life than an A/C Company cancels an appointment at the last minute. I was super upset and intended to never use this Company again. Around 3 PM I got a call from Tony, the Supervisor, who apologized and told me that things happen...they got backed up and Louie thought that my issue was not so urgent. But added that he wanted to make it up to me. So he was going to send the best technician...the supervisor technician, and since my unit was still under warranty he would take care of everything at no cost. Mike came at about 6 PM. Mike seemed to me extremely competent and knowledgeable. He used several instruments to check temperatures and pressures. He checked the Compressor and the evaporator. He noticed that there was in fact an issue with the A/C but said it could be several things. He called Tony and then told me that they decided to change the evaporator coil for a totally new one, at NO COST to me. The next day Mike came at around 1:30 PM and worked very hard for maybe 4 hours. At the end I had a brand new evaporator coil. He didn't even want to accept a tip. The unit was now working perfectly and I had to pay nothing. Furthermore, earlier that day Tony told me that because of my initial disappointment not only I would not pay for anything, but he would also add one more year of a $150 maintenance program for free. CONCLUSION: This Company initially made a mistake, but they surely solve the issue to my complete satisfaction and then some. I now highly recommend this Company. 12/15/2021 Unfortunately that family running a/c business does not hire qualified technicians for home repairs. I am their long time customer and I was thinking to be happy with their performance until one of their technicians came to suck a water leak at the wrong appliance. Yes at the wrong appliance. Can you imagine messing with the wrong appliance? I live on the second floor and was at home by luck when the building started shaking before 10/21/2021. I did not know what was that tremendous noise and from where coming until I went to my window and saw some one working below close to my a/c unit. Below where I live are two a/c appliances sitting next to each one on the ground. The company technician was not alert/smart enough to wonder which one he should start with. He could have knocked at my door and get the answer but he did not. He started working with mine which was fine. The building started shaking as I was going through a strong earthquake. I immediately asking to stop it and let him know that my a/c was running fine. I immediately noticed damage on the ceiling next to the a/c machine and called the company which took more than one month to dispatch the technician to check the damage. Today, I never expect to see that same technician Giovanni again who created the damage. Yes the company dispatched the wrong one to inspect the damage and never told me it would be the same one. Today, Giovanni came to check my ceiling and was rude. He did not want to recognize he made an error. He started talking about the first floor when I live on the second one. Non sense! THE PROBLEM AT THE FIRST PLACE WAS CREATED BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN STARTED MESSING WITH MY APPLIANCE WHICH WAS WORKING FINE INSTEAD OF THE PROBLEMATIC ONE WITH A LEAK AND THE COMPANY NEVER SUPPORT MY CAUSE. Nowadays people do not use their brain to work and most of them work as either parrots or robots. And who should be blamed? AAA Modern Air installed a new unit and rebuilt new exterior duct work on my flat Florida roof in April of 2010. The whole experience was handled by a courteous, knowledgable and friendly staff. The price was reasonable, the work excellent. There was no pressure sales talk, but helpful info on making my choices. Other companies that sent reps for estaments were more concerned with badmouthing other companies than addressing my issues. AAA was not the cheapest, but i"m convinced they were the best choice....sometimes you do get what you pay for! They even helped me with tax rebate info.! One year from the date of installment, I received a notice reminding me to make an appointment for my first year free preventive maintenace check that came with my unit....probably would have forgotten about it without the reminder. From the office staff to the onsite workers, everyone makes you feel like you're talking to a friend, quick to answer any questions and carry on a little friendly conversation. My mother has used this company for years has a service contract to avoid unforeseen problems and after hearing how good they take care of her A/C I've also signed up for one this week. There have been two times(once last year, then this week) when I needed AAA Modern Air to come out to my condo, the first was following Hurricane Irma. When the serviceman arrived my 220 kicked in turning the A/C on immediately, he double checked the entire system just to be sure all was correct and charged only $65 for the house call. The second time was 4/18/18, he was on time, spent several hours working on the unit and when he checked the extended warranty to find out if I was still covered, which I was. This meant that all I had to pay for was labor that came to $240. He put in a new motor and 2 circuit boards, without the warranty it would have cost over $1600. AAA Modern Air is the most reliable and professional a/c company I have used in my 35 years in South Florida. The office staff are friendly, patient and understanding and have juggled schedules to send a technician out as soon as possible when a problem crops up. They also call when the tech is on the way. My latest problem was an old thermostat that was not working correctly. Kenny, the technician, was right on time and proceeded to check out the thermostat, explaining what he was doing during the process. I did need a new thermostat, and Kenny installed it in minutes and explained how to use it. He also removed a metal filter that was too difficult to remove and clean, and replaced it with one of the company's paper filters, from the pack they had previously mailed to me. I recently had my unit serviced by tech Mike, and signed up for a twice a year maintenance contract which gave me a discount on the new thermostat. Our Air conditioning unit was dripping water so Mike C from AAA modern air came out on a Saturday which was very convenient for us since my wife and I have very busy work schedules. They took the A/C unit apart, took the coils outside ( a two man job), cleaned the coils, reinstalled the coil unit, flushed the lines, applied algae tabs to the drainage pipes, checked the freon levels and pressures, and changed the filter all in about 3 hours. We are very pleased with the customer service provided from the receptionist in charge of scheduling as well as the technicians. The only complaint I have (which is not a very big one) is that I wished they would have warned me that when they were using the blow torch to remove the coil unit, that there would be some soot in the air. If I would have know that beforehand, I would have closed the bedroom doors and layed down some plastic covering or drop cloth to avoid having to vacuum and clean the furniture which is what I had to do after the technicians left. read more

Victor Rivera, the AAA Modern Air Tech., arrived at our home at the scheduled afternoon time period, to address the reported issue of why water was slowly dripping into the air return plenum, reported earlier in the same day. After reviewing the AC Unit, Victor quickly diagnosed that a PVC pipe had severed and showed it to me. He then quickly removed and replaced the pipe. He restarted the Unit and he then did a thorough check of the AC Unit including the outside Condenser Unit. He reported that our AC System was operating optimally, including no more leak. Victor answered all my questions posed to him, in a manner that I could understand him. He then cleaned the area up, removed both the broken pipe and his tools and made sure that to let me know that if any questions or problems arise after he left, let his company know about it. My air conditioner went on the fritz this morning a friend referred me to AAA Modern Air The lady that took my call explained their rates and told me that a technician would be at my home between 1 and 5. Promptly after 2pm a technician showed up at my home checked my air conditioner from top to bottom and proceeded to explain what the problem was and told me what my options were in a way that a lay person like myself could understand , without making me feel like I was been talked down to or pressured. After agreeing on a course of action Anthony went to work, corrected my problem, doubled checked everything ,cleaned out my drain line to prevent water leaks and even suggested tinting my windows and installing sealing fans to help keep my electric bill down. Stay away!!!! They came to service my ac unit, removed the condensation pump then weeks later the condensation pump broke off due to the technician not connecting it properly to the wall resulting in over $8000 worth of damage. Called the company to send a technician out to see the damage and they took no responsibility for this as he was blaming me for not taking photos after the technician came to service the unit and just saying it was an act of god. Then the technician proceeded to give me attitude because he thought he's the best ac tech in the world. The manager also gave me attitude saying his guys are in the sun all day so it's not their fault, he then hung up the phone on me. Crazy part is it's include in the service contract that they remove and check the condensation pump yet it's not there fault for putting it back correctly. According to them it's normal for the pump to fall off a couple weeks after they do their yearly maintenance. read more

On 5/17.2021 I had my first Air Conditioner Sevice with AAA Modern Air. The name of the technician was Daniel. I had a terrific experience, Daniel serviced my two central units. He checked the entire system for both units, he was very thorough. He answered all my questions. The service included may items; like cleaning the coils, cleaning the drains (Vacuuming and pressure), checking refrigerant levels and electrical. One of my units is 14 years and the other is 9. At no point did Daniel pushed to replace the older unit. As a matter if fact, he said the unit looked amazing for its age. As a result of this interaction. I signed up for a one year service agreement that includes two annual visits where the system is completely checked. Based on this first interaction, I would highly recommend AAA Modern. Ken was the serviceman for our last maintenance call. We had lost the air on Sunday and then about 4 hours later the air came back on. I asked for a service call for Monday. I received my call at 8 AM and Ken arrived before 8:30 AM. He was by far the best serviceman we have ever had. He was neat, clean, courteous and so knowledgeable. Even my dog never barked at him and I believe animals can sense a person's character. He located the problem which was the capacitor still under warranty from last year. I did get a discount on the service call since I have the maintenance agreement. I have lived in my home 44 years and AAA have replaced all my air conditioners and I wouldn't think of using anyone else for service. I hope I will be able to have Ken for my next maintenance check. The price is very reasonable, the work (maintenance on a very old Air Conditioner) was done efficiently, and Jonathan took the time to answer all my questions fully. I noticed my AC dripping on Saturday night. Monday morning I called and spoke to Jon who had a service tech out here within about 2 1/2 hours. I used to have a contract with them but it expired so I did renew it because it is extremely beneficial. Ira showed up and was extremely professional and efficient. He also wore his mask and booties on his shoes each time he entered my unit, very respectful in my eyes. It was inevitable that I would need a new unit considering mine is 18 years old. Ira was able to give me a quote while on site and I went through the financing process, got approved and we have a permit in the works. AAA called prior to the appointment to let me know approximately when the tech would be arriving. When he arrived, he was thorough, courteous, capable and very helpful, especially in answering our questions. Michael Cordi cleaned and rinsed our coils, reinstalled and restarted our system. He cleaned each air duct, installed a UV Light Stick, and did a thorough maintenance check. He did not try to sell us additional features to our unit. He completed his maintenance in a timely manner and was very pleasant. Jed was very professional and immediately found out what was wrong with my 2 years old American Standard ( ex Trane) AC, the capacitor became defective or wasn't working. I told him that it was really a surprise to me that my fairly new AC wasn't cooling anymore . My other Trane lasted 13 years and never gave me any trouble , I changed it in the end because the coils were in bad shape and over producing condensation water and leaking on the floor. He explained to me that Trane or not Trane, ALL Ac manufacturers were buying some of the same internal parts from the same companies . So he explained: just like cars some internal part part may go wrong , the water pump, the battery, brakes, etc. that does not stop them from being good and reliable cars. read more

My AC was working, but could not keep up in the peak hours of the afternoon. It had been like this for at least three months. I had an AAA tech come out to see what I needed. After he left, we had no A/C at all. My fan wouldn't run. Clearly he screwed something up. I called the office the next morning to ask if the tech would come back and get it working like it was. The manager, I think his name was Eric, was incredibly rude. In fact, I have never dealt with a business person with this kind of attitude. I had to rush to find another company to get me back up and running. I would encourage everyone to stay the heck away from this place.
