I had AAA auto and homeowner's insurance from about 1998 until recently. When I reviewed my policies closely this year (Covid downtime) I discovered a jaw-dropping number of mistakes. Example: I learned that I was was listed as a renter in my own home. I had been issued renter's insurance instead of homeowner's insurance. Of course, I should have read the fine print and noticed earlier, but WHAT? I have never rented, and I filled out extensive "homeowners insurance" paperwork providing square footage, etc. This is one example of many errors. I have since dropped AAA -- although, of course, when they issued me a refund on the remaining part of the cancelled premium, they issued the check in my ex-husband's name, making it impossible to cash, despite the fact that 1) I was always the primary policy-holder; 2) I am the sole title-holder to the house; and 3) the premium was paid with a check signed by me. I am now hoping for a re-issued refund check, after spending more than an hour on the phone with them and providing them with paperwork that they should already have had on file. Not a competent organization on the national level, and not polite. Look elsewhere. read more
