ZERO stars. Came here to get an IDP and it took 1.5 hrs. Everyone who came in after I did got serviced BEFORE I did. Was one of the last 3 people serviced after they closed. It was pretty obvious they screwed up and missed me on their list somehow. A good business should at least apologize if they screwed up -- didn't get anything. Will never consider joining AAA and will cancel my roadside service. read more

In the time of COVID it's hard to get into the DMV especially to switch plates on my car. I was able to get in and out within a half-an-hour which saved me from having to mess with the DMV. They even transfer out of state plates to CA! Bonus! read more

Came in here next to the last minute to pay my vehicle registration. Now I used to do both the local DMV thing (going there is almost as much fun as going to your local social security office) and the "pay by mail" thing too. I gladly pay the annual AAA membership fee and actually use mine on occasion for other services (believe it or not, it's really worth it in a pinch, especially if you own an RV). It's totally worth the price you pay... Now generally speaking, I can change a flat tire with the best of them but why pay if you can have someone do it for you in less that 15 minutes? Also, just knowing that if anything happened to my wife and / or daughter's cars while I'm away, and that they will be promptly attended to, is worth the price in and of itself. But, back to the review at hand. I pay all four of my vehicle registrations at this particular AAA office, usually during a lunch visit. (They seem to be much quicker and efficient than the Torrance office), The absolute longest I've ever had to wait was 10 minutes tops!!! Beats the hell out of the DMV that's for sure. At least for me, best time to go is typically between 10:30 - 11:00am. Lots of parking (again, unlike the Torrance office) and the folks have always been courteous. read more

I figured they must be good. They've earned 3 A's. AAA is like ladybugs and firemen-- it's hard to imagine people having a bad experience with them. But hey maybe a fireman stole someone's wife or someone choked on a ladybug in their pina colada, so what do I know. Love this place for my trip planning and maps...car keys..movie tickets...renewal auto tags...new cars so nevered used the tows in years been members like 30 yrs. Give them a call to check what tome they close, a lady answered and said 5pm! Get down there arrive at 440pm!!! The two girls working at the rent station outside say "we are closing early because they still have to break down the rent" NOT HELPFUL AT ALL DIDNT ANSWER NO QUESRIONS! If you close at 5pm you break down the things after your LAST customer! The website and the employees should say they are closing at 430pm to break down rent! It's a JOB!! YOU GET PAID TO WORK! The issue was the fact that I called spoke to someone and they said they close at 5pm not that they might close early! As employees let your customers know! Took 6 people who got there before 450 for a manager to be called out! Side note: you don't like your job nor want to work than get a different job or don't work at all! read more

52 years of membership and still treated like Dirt. I waited to post this review before I completed my business transaction. I've been been a member of auto club for 52 years. Auto club supposedly strives for amazing customer service. Unfortunately I did not see any of it. The Long Beach office staff has an ax to grind with its members. It all started when I was given a trailer as a gift. I wanted to register the trailer in my name and that's when the problems begin. My brother gave me a trailer and he has a different last name than I do. First thing the representative says, is your last name don't match. I said you're absolutely correct. My father started another family with a different women. It was so nice of him to remind me of the pain that caused out family for years. As soon as I told him that the fight was on. He gave me nothing but red tape. I asked to speak with the main manager, and she was very nice and said she was going to have a coaching session with him. I came back a second time with my correct documents. I checked in. The representative recognize me and let his staff know who ever gets me to get me a really hard time. So when it was my turn to be seen there was already a problem. I came back with all the documents AAA requested. The representative basically suggested I did fraud. Of course the ass speak to another manager. He said there was nothing wrong with my documents, but could not override her on her decision not to process me. So I waited until my stepbrother flew in from out of state to complete the process. I also had a certified unopened piece of mail from the California highway patrol. What a complete hassle. After speaking with the California highway patrol, they instructed me to never go AAA for any DMV services. They told me they cause a-lot of unnecessary hardships. A lot of DMV services can be completed online. My automobile insurance covers towing for an extra $20 a year. I have about six months to decide if I really want to renew my membership for 2023. Covid is over. It's time management at auto club cuts, deadweight. You don't need a cold body anymore. All they're doing is destroying your customer service and core values. read more

This is a great huge location. They have DMV, travel, maps and discount tickets. I came here to review my registration, get some paper maps for my parents. Also i wanted to get some Aquarium of the Pacific tickets at a discount. Parking is great. The lines can be long but it moves along and not as bad as DMV. read more

Oh Yelpers, what a wonderful, fantastic, outstanding and stellar review I have in store for you! This location at 4800 Airport Plaza Drive is my go-to office for DMV stuff, maps, travel, quick transactions...you get the picture. So August 31st, I realized my truck tags were due and needed a smog. I rush to AAA and get in around 4:40 to handle what usually takes a few moments. Anthony Q. greets me and runs through my paperwork. I had to pay my fees so my registration wouldn't lapse. He tells me the amount, and when I give my card to pay, simultaneously I remember they only take cash or check, none of which I had on me. Anthony said he'll keep his line open so I can go to the ATM in the lobby. Cool, see you in a sec. 4:45 p.m., in the AAA lobby at the ATM machine. Swipe my card, enter my PIN, and ask for a few hundred. The response to my request- DECLINE. Wait. Whaaaaaat? Oh, I get it, maybe I put the wrong PIN # in. So I give it another try, and get the same result. Panic. Sweat beads. Disbelief, and anxiety sweep over me as I call my bank to inquire what's up. I go through a series of Fraud Checks to verify my card and I belong together. After successful completion, I'm told to use my card. Back to the ATM I go and again I am denied the cash that I need to pay my registration fees. Panic quickly turns to aggravation, I'm not liking the scenario. I rush back inside and let Anthony know what's happening as I'm on hold waiting for a human to answer at my bank. Anthony was calm and cool as he said, no worries, as long as I'm inside the building, he'll help me get my DMV transaction taken care of. Here's the ugly part, and it has nothing to do with AAA...it's all about the poor and pathetic service from the phone representatives at my bank. Starting with Carla who had no clue what she was talking about, then her supervisor Tammy who said it takes 30 minutes for the fraud check to clear before I can make another transaction, and eventually, an hour into my call, Laurie in the Fraud Department also had no clue and stated that my card was somehow causing the issues with the ATM. I'll spare sharing the name of my bank for now as they deserve their own review. Anthony held out hope that I could get my issue resolved, as his colleagues were shutting down their systems, here I am standing at his station waiting to get someone from my bank to give me a logical reason as to why my card is not spitting $$$ out of the ATM so I can pay my registration fees. Anthony's boss, Rosa S., Branch Manager, asks what's going on; he explains that I've been on hold with various bank representatives who are all giving different answers/explanations as to why I can't get $$$ from the ATM. Rosa said that the DMV system had to be shut down and being that it was after 5:30 p.m. (Auto Club closes at 5), they could no longer wait on me to get an answer. I understood, but none too happy with my financial institution. Clearly frustrated with the situation, I let Rosa know that I refuse to accept a late fee because the bank can't figure out the right story to give me. My bank will be responsible for any late fees DMV tries to assess for my registration being late. My card was not being used fraudulently, there was no hold on it, and yes I have sufficient funds to pay my fees, but still no one can say why the $$$ won't get into my hands. One of the excuses was that the Auto Club was halting my money from coming out of the ATM- Anthony just shook his head upon hearing that one. I'm at the bank first thing in the a.m., and explain the dilemma that I had to deal with the day before. The teller says that the phone reps gave me incorrect information and she could write a letter on letterhead explaining I have sufficient funds in the account and there was no reason why I should have kept getting my transactions denied. I put her on notice that any late fees DMV would try to assess against me, that they, the bank would have to make good on it and not me. She said no problem, so off to the smog check station I went. The truck passed smog and I returned to Auto Club where Anthony advised me to fill out a Statement of Facts to DMV so they would not charge the late fee. How thoughtful and patient was he and his Manager for not shutting the doors and putting me out in the midst of some serious issues with my bank. I'm reviewing this location because I received a voicemail from somebody at this branch. I didn't pick up the phone because I didn't recognize the number. Once I heard the voicemail, I tried to call back but it was a general number and took a moment or two to hear the directory. Also, I was called five minutes before their closing. In late September, my car would not start and I called AAA. Never had an issue with them. The tow company they use came out and diagnosed my problem as a bad battery. It was $200 to put in a battery. I had to borrow the money to get it. After putting in the battery, car still did not start. The mechanic said I was lo on gas. Close to empty but not empty. I gave him $10 dollars and he went and got gas. He brought it back and car still didn't start. I was told to wait 20 minutes and try to start but don't start it too much because it could flood the car. So he left and I had to call again to get a tow to the mechanic. At the mechanic's, it was concluded after paying him $60 dollars for an inspection, that the engine was bad. I had no choice but to either pay thousands to fix it or sell the car for parts. So I did that. I wanted to save the battery for the mechanic or AAA but the company that bought the car said everything g had to go with it. AAA told me on the phone when I called to fill out a reimbursement form. I did but there were issues of them getting it because they did not send the entire form by email. Once everything was submitted, a decision would be made. After getting the voicemail, I talked to a supervisor who honestly didn't seem interested in my case and said I have to go through an appeal process. That's a lot of work to go through and I told her that's between them and the towing company. Tw reasons they did not want to return the money was because the mechanic's report said I needed a battery. Second, because I sold the car. Guess I was being too honest by telling them. It's not like I wanted to sell it. So nobody ever followed up with me even after speaking to the supervisor and I don't want to go through this whole process again. But I do know that when I get a car again, I will consider other places to get insurance. They don't know what $200 would mean to me when I can't afford basic necessities at this time. read more

I went in last week to renew my auto registration. I booked out 90 minutes on my schedule because we all know how these things go. I took my 16 year old with me, kind of as a punishment but more as an indoctrination into the pain of owning a vehicle. There was no lesson for my kid. The entire thing took about 3 minutes. That is not an exaggeration. It would have gone faster if I wasn't standing there questioning the person, "that's it?" "wow" "I can't believe it, thank you!!!!" Great experience. It's been an extremely long time since I've gone into this branch. And here I am today. This branch has changed quite a bit.....and for the better. They still have the system of checking in and informing the clerk what you need and they assign you where you need to go. Of course, you still have to wait to get called. Seating area is large and is super kid friendly with a table for them to get crayons and coloring paper for them to keep busy until your name is called. They also have different seating area so you're not quite confined to one sitting area. Travel area is huge and the staff are very knowledgeable about the available travels. Very seldom did they need to ask other staff for assistance. They are efficient in their service. They even opened a Sprint shop center right inside! Which offers discount to AAA members! I never leave reviews, but I have to say I have not had an interaction with someone working customer service as I had with Harrison at this AAA. I have been a member since I first started driving 13 years ago and I have interacted with MANY people who work in the AAA offices. Every single person I've ever interacted with has been nothing but incredibly kind and willing to help and explain things if I don't understand them. Harrison was extremely rude. He cut me off multiple times while being considerably unclear about what he wanted from me. As someone who myself has worked in customer service for the entire time I've been working, my interaction with Harrison was similar to some of the most disrespectful interactions I've had with rude customers that truly make me not want to work in the service industry. So it was quite shocking and interesting to experience it from the other side. I try to be nothing but nice to everyone, but because Harrison almost made me cry and had a smug look on his face afterwards, I felt I should come here and leave a review. Every other time I've been to this AAA I've had a great experience. Good luck if you have to deal with him. read more
