AAA saved the day! So if you're my friend on Facebook then you probably saw my status last week that said I was having a bad day because of some car troubles I was having. If your not my friend on Facebook, which most of my Yelp friends are not, then you have no idea what a bad day I had last Wednesday. If it was not for AAA then it would have been a lot worse. Here is a quick summary of what happened to me, and how AAA saved the day. Last Wednesday morning, as I was driving to work, my mom called me on my cell and asked me if there was anyway I could pick her up at her house and drop her off at work because she was having car problems. Even though it was way out of my way, I said yes. After I dropped her off I asked her the quickest way to get back to the freeway. Well I took the way she suggested, but what she did not know was there was road construction taking place on the street she told me to take. As I was passing through the construction area, I saw the car in front of me swerve. I followed suit, but I did not see what I was trying to avoid hitting. A second later my back tire hit something fairly large, and I immediately knew my tire was toast. I pulled over to the side of the road, and found a huge hole in my tire. I knew I had a small donut spare tire in my trunk, but I also knew that I did not have a jack in my car. I called AAA, and within ten minutes a truck arrived and changed my tire. Now, fast forward about 9 hours to when I'm driving home from work on the 91 freeway. I was in the slow lane, doing about 50 because I did not want to go too fast on my little spare. Since I normally do about 80 on my way home, I'm not familiar with the slow lane. Well because of my lack of knowledge of the slow lane, I did not know there was a huge pot hole right before the merge to the 241 freeway. I'm sure you can guess what happened next. I hit that damn pot hole and the impact popped my donut tire. I pulled on to the shoulder, and called AAA for the second time that day. It only took the tow truck ten minutes to find me. After he arrived he gave me two options. The first was to tow me home to Long Beach (Thank God I have the 100 mile tow plan), and the second option was he could tow me to Pep Boys in Anaheim Hills so I could get a new tire put on. I ended up choosing the later option because I figured I would have to get a new tire anyways. The driver actually called Pep Boys for me just to make sure they would be able to fit me in because it was so late. If I would not have had a AAA membership, who knows what would have happened to me. I would have ended up paying hundreds of dollars in towing charges, or I would have had to call a friend or relative to come and get me, which would probably have taken hours. Another great thing about being a member of AAA is their local offices. I have visited those offices many, many times in the past to do things that you normally would have to do at the dreaded DMV. Did I mention that lots of restaurants, theaters, amusement parks, and other companies offer discounts to AAA members. Just like insurance, I think a AAA membership should be mandatory if you have a drivers license. It can really save you lots of time and money. Thanks AAA read more

When my car and I have an argument and it decides to give me the silent treatment on the side of the road, a damsel in distress I will not be. Why, you may ask. Because I am a premium AAA member and regardless where we my car and I might quarrel there is always AAA to mend our relationship. Unfortunately there are many times I needed AAA. Almost every time their service was awesome. There was once a mishap when I was up north having to be transferred back and forth between the SoCal & NorCal AAA to get a tow truck out can be annoying, even worst was when the tow truck was 2 hours late and I had to go through the complicated call again. Besides that they've been good to me. But that's not the only reason I love AAA. I love the perks that comes with my membership we get discounts at a lot of Major retails, hotels, car rentals resturants, vacations and so much more. Being a member have saved me money and car troubles. I love that I can renew my registration, change titles and do other DMV stuff here. The staff at this office is awesome! Especially Mike. They've are always helpful and answers questions thoroughly.The office is clean and cozy, i like carpet, with plenty of seats. This is your OG insurance service. The shit your grandma had. Well, I may not be a grandma yet, but if you've read my reviews then ya know I ain't no spring chicken. I've been with AAA for a few years. FUCK the DMV. You can handle all of your state sponsored driving privileges through triple A. The lines and atmosphere are much better as well. In addition the roadside service is super handy if you drive a hooptie. I still keep it even though I don't have hooptie problems anymore. I may need it for a tire change...but then again.....Heeelloooo! Fix a flat--- in a can! (Whoever thought of it was fucking genius!! ) I've not ever had the misfortune to file a claim. I go and handle things at this office which is nestled among some large office buildings in an office park. The office is nice and clean and the folks who work here have been there for quite some time and are quite the friendly lot. Wow! Five stars. I'm not a freak and I don't own any stock in these muthafuckas, but I've never had any adverse issues with any of the many services that they provide for which I have utilized. I'm happy with 'em. I always renew my car registration here; I even overheard a man next to me say "what was I thinking going to the DMV when I can do it here?" No, I don't have any insurance policies with AAA, but I do like the fact that their road side service is the best $72 I spend every year and by showing my AAA card at many businesses I get up to (and most of the time) 10% off. They have just about everything you need to travel and, I was hooked up with the Internet Fleet Leasing Manager in September when I leased the Jay Bird in September of last year. What a painless, easy process of in and out in 3 hours of how to lease a vehicle (or buy one if you wish). This is where the slogan "Being a member has it's privlidges" applies. They do have a new policy (I didn't get the memo) that you must first go to the registration desk prior to coming where you renew your vehicle registration and, Valerie Metzker was very kind in letting me slide by not making me go do this; besides they were not busy and she and I were talking our little touches off! Renew as soon as you get your notice and not wait until the month prior to your regeistration or, there will be a penelty for doing so (see it in you registration renewal envelope). Its really a shame that I HAD to give this place one star. Hmmmm where do i start? How about we just dive right into the good part. AAA (at least a certain adjuster in this location) thinks its ok to threaten people and bully their way around just because they have to pay for the repairs on a car that one of their insureds hit. This is to the adjuster: YOU SHOULDN'T BE WORKING IN THIS INDUSTRY, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE AND YOU HAVE NO COMMON SENSE FOR THREATENING PEOPLE WHEN YOU'RE THE ONE THAT SCREWED UP IN THE FIRST PLACE. LEARN TO UNDERSTAND THAT ITS A HASSLE FOR PEOPLE TO GET INTO ACCIDENTS, ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS NOT THEIR FAULT AND YOU SHOULD PROVIDE SOME SENSE OF RELIEF AND MAKE THE PROCESS SMOOTH AND EASY. Even strongest most independent women desire to be rescued when they find themselves in distress. Deep down they all daydream that a handsome prince in shining armor will arrive on a white horse and make everything ok. The rest of us who live in the real world just call AAA. After completing the City of Angels 5k in downtown LA I returned to my vehicle parked underground at the Walt Disney Music Hall only to discover that I had locked my keys, AAA Card, cell phone, ID and cash inside my vehicle. Not only was I sweaty, tired and thirsty I was also screwed. Luckily I was with a friend who had her cell phone and we went above ground to call AAA. The friendly and helpful member services rep informed me that my membership had expired several months ago. Again, I was screwed. But wait!! AAA was gracious enough to send a driver to my rescue. A gruff and grumpy young man driving a tow truck arrived in less than 20 minutes and opened my door in a jiffy. It was pretty early on a Sunday morning, I know I wouldn't be too thrilled to be working at that hour. Once I got back in my vehicle I called AAA back, renewed my membership over the phone and thanked them for the great service. In addition to emergency roadside assistance, AAA also offers other great benefits like travel discounts, insurance and even their publication Westways offers great suggestions for daytrips and off-the-beaten-path vacation destinations. You mean I don't have to wait at the DMV to renew the registration for both my cars? What a delicious piece of cake! I walked in here on a Saturday to pay for registration renewal, expecting to spend at least 30 minutes or so waiting and such... NOPE. I came in, waited for 2 minutes while the person in front of me completed their transaction, and then spent about 3 minutes completing my own transaction. I paid for registration renewal AND got my sticker in about 5 minutes. I couldn't believe it! I've been an AAA member for 3 years now... why haven't I done this before? Lesson learned. I had to use it the other day when my mom calls me and tells me she has a flat tire on my brother's car that she's using. So I go to the house, call AAA and say I have a flat and tell them where I'm at. I tell them I have to leave for work and they say it's OK you don't have to be there, someone will be there within 30 minutes. I tell them I also don't have my card is that a problem, they say "no, just give me your first and last name and verify your address." Before I left back to work, someone showed up ... now that's what I call service! Now let's hope they're that fast if I'm stuck on a freeway at night time. All I have to say is AAA is like insurance, you pay for it and feels like you're wasting your money because you wish you never have to use it. But unlike insurance, when you finally have to use it, you're glad you paid for it. read more

I just love this place. My membership has been payed for over and over again just by being able to go here instead of the freaking DMV. In the last year we traveled to some places we'd never been (AAA has free road maps for members,) bought and sold cars (which requires multiple forms, title transfers, fee payments, auto insurance changes - which is also through them, and usage of their free notary services,) and changed over our home owners insurance to AAA (requiring meeting with an insurance agent, paperwork, etc.) Every time I go, I'm seen really quickly by someone who is kind, knowledgeable, helpful and I always learn something when I go. Even when I think I have it all figured out, I've got all the forms I need, one of their kind reps points out something I missed that would have caused me much misery. I appreciate this service very much, and I figure for $40/year, it's a no-brainer. *edit* One of the other reviews mentioned having to wait on the line to speak to an insurance rep for 15+ minutes which is true, and in my opinion, unacceptable. I've avoided this by getting the business card of the dude who sold me my auto and home owners policy and I just ring him up any time I have a change to anything, avoiding the 1-800 line. read more

Just make sure you get the Premium membership because when you actually need to tow your car, it's probably going to be quite a distance. After 12 years of paying for my annual membership, I finally had to utilize the service. In a nutshell, frickin' awesome! I was at the new Flame Broiler off Wardlow and Long Beach Blvd. Figured I get something to go before I head of to work. Get into my car, insert key, engage ignition. Cranks twice, then nothing. Tried it again, nothing (at least the fan and dashboard displays were working, so my battery isn't completed drained). This got me pissed off because: 1) I was gonna be late for work, but my manager was cool with that after I called in and 2) I replaced the OEM battery (yah, it was a 5-year battery going on 7 years) and installed a rebuilt coil back in January. Everything was fine until today. Get on the phone, called AAA...rep on the phone was nice and professional, told me that a unit would be there within a half-hour. Got an automated follow up call ten minutes later, telling me the ETA was twelve minutes. Guy in the utility truck (damn I forgot his name) was friendly and a real character. Made sure the battery was OK (and told me that AAA has a battery service, so if you have a dead battery, they'll replace it with a new one). He also told me to avoid batteries made in Mexico, as their construction is questionable (my was made in Korea) and not to get a battery at Kragen, Autozone or Pep Boys, as the battery might sit on the shelf for several months to a year. I figure he was just up selling the battery service, but it seemed to make sense to me. As I'm popping the hood, I'm telling him the electrical issues with my car and we jumped it on the first crank. Obviously something is either draining the system somewhere or there's a short...I'll find out in a couple days when it goes in for service. Since I had diarrhea of the mouth in my last review, I'll try to keep this one brief. 3 years ago my car broke down on a Friday afternoon and I had to wait almost 4 hours for the AAA tow truck. I hated AAA, cursed their name, but reluctantly kept my membership. 2 days ago, my car broke down, and a tow truck had a hold of my car less than 10 minutes after I called the AAA operator. (He even had seemingly objective recommendations on repair shops.) You've redeemed yourself, AAA. And my $48 check for your annual roadside service seems worth it once again. read more

I left the key on and my battery died. No one's fault but my own. So I called AAA of which I've been a member for a gazillion years, and they tell me 90 minutes to get somebody out here to jump a battery. That is ridiculous. May be time to look for another road service. read more

I highly recommend getting a membership. They do it all here. I had a problem with Freeks auto repair in Fullerton and the AAA backed me and got me a refund. The auto club is there for you. Trips, insurance, referrals for repairs, registration and car purchases and roadside services. BUT I also recommend the premium membership at 100.00 per year. You will be glad if you need a tow over 7 miles. read more

After writing letters to DMV back and forth for three months, I decided to go in to AAA to see if they could help me get my wife's car registration renewed. After 15 minutes they cleared it up and gave me the DMV printout and registration right there. Don't ever try to deal with the state employees in Sacramento, they can't figure out what they're doing. I LOVE AAA. I recently bought a new car sold my old car, but wanted to keep my personalized plates off my old car. AAA gave me new plates for the old car so I could sell it with plates, didn't charge me any fees when the DMV said it'd be $19 and it took less than 10 minutes. I'd call that a victory. read more

Great AAA location! Came in on a weekday at 4pm to get my car registration renewed and got in and out within 15 minutes. The employees are very proficient and helpful. They'll give you the registration card and sticker so you'll never have to go to the dmv ever again!!! My only tip is to bring cash or check for any dmv transactions as they cannot accept cards (the way the dmv system is setup). read more

After I explained my need to visit, she said "follow me". I did and every concern I had was handled and she even took the payment for me. ***** How easy was that. I have been to this location about 3 times over the past few years and every time it's great. I've only been M-F in the morning. I usually get there a few minutes before 9 am when they open and am in and out in minutes. On my most recent visit, I went to request a new title for my car and to get any travel guides they had on Yosemite. Title was $19. I got 2 maps and a Northern California Travel guide for free, along with a AAA tote bag to carry them in. While I was there I got an insurance quote I had been meaning to ask for and got a small AAA duffel bag for doing that! All in under 30 minutes. my daughter car brook down in Long beach today. She asked me to call AAA for help. when I I called they responded very fast . they confirmed my membership first and the location of my car. on the phone they were very polite to me . they gave a 30 minute estimated time for the tow truck arrival, but the driver came in 15 minuets. while I was waiting, they were texting me about their service. the service was excellent, their truck was clean, and the driver was very professional. I have been AAA member for more then 15 years and I see their service always improving. I love them. read more

If you love to wait days for a call to be returned, deny a claim...then send a check for 1/4 the damage without the 2 car seats, have an appt to have the adjuster look at the car at 9:00 but calls after 11:00 to meet me at the repair shop....THIS IS THE PLACE. read more

FREE MAPS! They changed my registration to California and it was quick and painless. They handed me my new plates right there and I got to avoid the second-only-to-the-post-office-in-terms-of-awfulness-DMV. FREE MAPS! My only gripe? They don't take credit/debit and who carries around a checkbook anymore? There is an ATM right outside the office from some unknown crappy bank that charges you for a withdrawal. FREE MAPS! Update: Now they want me to pay for the rest of the year even though I was not given coverage for the rest of the year. Insurance companies are getting worse than banks! When it comes to AAA services, I would give them more stars than the amount given. However, when it comes to their insurance I would give negative stars. I purchased a car earlier in the year and figured that I would switch my policy at the time to the new car. I talked to Darvin P. that very Friday so that I can make sure that the new car is covered. He said that he would make sure that the paperwork goes through by Monday. I suppose I should not have trusted him because several months later I received a notice from the DMV letting me know that my registration will be cancelled due to a lack of insurance. I spoke to some people at AAA to figure out what I can do and then they told me that, even though I was paying insurance on a car that I didn't even own anymore, I had to pay for the months that I wasn't even insured! They accepted that it was their fault, but that didn't matter. The money that I paid for the old car somehow doesn't count and I had to make up all of it. I had to make a down payment of $600 and then pay over $400 a month! For services I didn't get! I sent an email to Darvin's supervisor Danisha Y. and she must've not even read my email because she just disregarded everything in my email letting her know what was happening. I've been a AAA member for over twenty years and that has been very helpful and useful. However, their insurance division is ridiculous in how terrible it is. It was truly surprising!!! read more

I am considering if it is worth it. Just like the DMV, no competition breeds complacency. Not convenient with people who have jobs. Open 9-5 during the week. THAT IS WHEN WORKING PEOPLE ARE AT WORK! When I got my first car, roadside service was unlimited. Now it's what? Three tows a year? Not that I ever needed three tows in the span of twelve months, but it just goes to show how things have slowly deteriorated over the years. BTW, did you know that there is a free Metro Tow service? I was with my friend and she blew out a tire. We got to the shoulder of the freeway and called AAA. One minute later a tow showed up. "Wow, I just hung up!" my friend said. The tow driver said he was with the county and just drives around looking for drivers needing help. "It's free," he added. "Hook us up dude," my friend said. She canceled her AAA tow, we got our tire changed and were on our way. Anyway, when I first started to drive, my Thomas Guide was indispensible. Now we have google maps with satellite and street views on our iPhones and GPS right in our cars. Who needs free maps now? read more

AAA is no good! This is my 1st hand experience! My daughter went to college last August. So I took her off the car insurance temporarily. She came to visit me during Spring break, so I put her back to the insurance, this way she could drive and visit friends. Right after the Spring break was over, I called AAA and removed her from the car insurance. They made me sign documents online, I did! Guess what? Several weeks alter, they sent me a bill to pay, they never took her off my car insurance, they wanted more money from me. Nobody is willing to accept responsibility for their stupid and incompetent mistakes! They are bad! I am in the process of switching to another insurance company and report them to California Dept of Insurance! read more

The AAA roadside assistance is great, but the AAA Auto Insurance part is the pits. If one of their insured causes damage to your auto, save yourself a lot of time and grief and get either your own insurance or an attorney to collect the damages for you. They are absolutely the very WORSE to deal with! I'm not sure they're even a real insurance company. read more
