I had been dealing with a frustrating registration issue for months. The DMV system kept saying I didn't have proof of insurance, even though my policy was active and paid. On top of that, I was receiving notices from the DMV that didn't make sense, which only added to the confusion. I kept getting locked out of the system with no clear answers. I even called the DMV before coming in, and they recommended I go to AAA... which felt a little ironic given how long this had been going on. When I arrived, Ayanna, the member service representative, immediately took the time to really look into my situation. She caught something no one else had, a simple letter error in my VIN number on my insurance. Such a small mistake, but it had been causing a huge headache. In July I went to AAA to get a personalized license plate (and handle other DMV things) the guy that helped me was SUPER nice and friendly! I wish I had taken note of his name :( Then last weekend I went back to pick up my personalized license plate and hubby decided he wanted a few personalized plates too (+ more DMV tasks). This time we got Ayanna Saenz as our Member Services Specialist and bonus points... the guy who helped me in July was at the station RIGHT NEXT to her :) so I got to see and talk with him too when picking up the plate he helped me with! Today I was renewing my membership of 55+ years AND a vehicle registration! In and out in 15minutes - with my registration tags! Bianca was wonderful in assisting me with both of these transactions. I also observed how patient and friendly the other employees were with older members trying to complete their transactions on phones and iPads, helping them navigate through policies and apps. I LOVE that! AAA is waaaaay more than insurance. Travel, notary, road trip planning - members get FREE MAPS! Why are maps important on a road trip? One of the benefits of a AAA membership is not having to deal with the 13th Circle of Hell aka the CA DMV when renewing a registration. This is regarding my visit 7/3 @ appx 4pm.I was standing in line and observed a interaction between a customer and JENNIFER the supposed manager who was unbelievably rude and condescending. After the customer finally got what he needed, Jennifer and the employee in front were laughing at the customer. Best practices are definitely recommended. I recently visited the AAA office, and while my experience started off on the wrong foot, it was completely turned around thanks to the incredible professionalism and expertise of Bianca. Initially, I was about to walk out and never come back due to a frustrating encounter with a younger Latina employee who was unhelpful and clearly not knowledgeable about notarizing my paperwork. I was honestly so close to giving up and taking my business elsewhere. That's when Bianca stepped in and saved the day! From the moment she took over, I knew I was in capable hands. She was not only knowledgeable but also patient and kind, making the entire process seamless. Bianca truly went above and beyond to ensure my paperwork was properly notarized and that I felt valued as a customer. This is my neighborhood AAA office. I have been here several times and you would think that I would know better than today of all days to NOT bring cash with me. Unless your credit card is a straight credit card and not a debit card that can be ran as a credit card I highly recommend that you use cash if not AAA will charge you a fee on your credit card. You need to know this before you go! The staff was professional and friendly. Even during lunchtime on a Friday which was very busy. Of course I checked in and was advised that I had to go get cash and return. The staff member assured me that I was in the queue and that when I return to go to the corner of the room. The staff member gestured and I directed me where I needed to go. I left went to an ATM to get cash. Upon my return I went to where the staff member direct me to. Basically it was a line that wrapped around a cubicle that you had to stand in. I know I always mention this but from a disabled persons perspective this cue was not ideal. The space was very narrow and each person tried to give each other at least 4 feet of space in this post Covid environment which was almost impossible. I had to stand for was only about 10 minutes and I am ambulatory . However, if someone else with other issues would definitely find this arrangement challenging. They need seating options. Plenty of parking and ADA spaces. Restroom available but not enough seating. Other than that I've got my registration renewed and left ther literally unscathed. I wanted to give 5 stars but the cash vs credit thing was very inconvenient. My biggest tip to anyone is to BRING CASH for all of your transactions. read more

It seems I'm not the only one who has been misinformed and treated disrespectfully by NATALIE APIKIAN at this AAA branch in Northridge. I've been an AAA member for several years and have always had positive experiences with DMV and passport services. Unfortunately, my recent visit regarding auto insurance was confusing and frustrating. I went in to register a motorcycle and asked for a quote, not to start a new policy. I was told I'd be excluded from the family policy because I'm no longer a dependent and the vehicle is in my name. I was also told I couldn't add the motorcycle and would need a new policy with a very high premium. When asked about my current address, I clarified that my permanent residence hasn't changed. The quote was updated based on other information, slightly lowering the premium, but I was still pressured to make an immediate decision or risk changes to the family policy. After several emails and experiencing disrespect from Natalie Apikian, I contacted a manager at the branch who clarified that I am still fully covered under the family policy and can continue driving the vehicle for now. This information would have been helpful from the beginning. Instead, I was initially told I'd be excluded immediately unless I made an immediate decision. This experience was stressful and could have been avoided with clearer communication. I hope future interactions are more transparent and informative, especially for members managing insurance on their own for the first time. read more

I am disabled in a wheelchair. AAA agreed to give total coverage for a 1999 ADA disability van with disability boarding equipment 6 months ago. The van is easier and less complicated to work on than new ones with computer software and less it is less expensive to work on. The electric ramp was damaged by another driver. The rest of the van is in excellent running condition and reliable as is it's model reviews reflect and is not damaged. 6 months after agreeing to completely cover the disability van rather than honoring their contract AAA wanted to total it out to avoid replacing the disability ramp. I would take a loss on my investment in the van with its expensive disability alteration equipment and suffer the loss of the its transportation hobbling me. This is not acceptable treatment of disability clients. Their words are empty and hollow. read more

She said she was going to automatically cancel my policy. She told me do not worry about it I will handle it and ignore anything that comes in the mail about it cause it will automatically cancel by itself. So which one is it Natalie you are going to automatically cancel it or it's going to automatically cancel by its self!!! 7 months later I am getting a letter saying I owe them from Jan-May. Hello! I have not been with you guys for insurance. At this point AAA Northridge specially with Natalie has not been helpful and unprofessional. The best AAA EVER!! the process is sooo easy and simple, parking is easy and never packed. I love this fast process to get what you need. Today I encountered two TOP NOTCH employees that were tremendously helpful! As soon as I walked in I was helped and everything was explained to me and payment method, and all information I need to have ready. As I waited, a nice gentleman who I did not know his name, came up to me with a water bottle and let me continue to sit as he processed my paperwork and payment. It was like VIP status for me lol I felt so special. On the other hand, this is not the only time I've been here and received superb customer service. They give out free bags AT times and makes life easier by being nice, efficient, and fluent with their job! This is the only AAA I will attend for now on. I came here during lunch hours the day before Thanksgiving. I was expecting it to be a zoo & with long wait times. I came in, checked in, & sat down prepared to read a good chunk of my book. Much to my surprise, I was called up in under 5 minutes! I was there to renews my auto plates & handled it in no time flat. In all, it was about a 15 minute trip. I was shocked. I've always tried to go to a AAA as close to opening as possible as to avoid crowds. But if I am able to handle DMV matters at this location during, what the employee described as, a very very busy time/day, then I'll absolutely be making this my go to location from here on out. I went in to pay my registration. Carmen was great. She recommended I could get an insurance quote. I decided against it and as I was walking out, I changed my mind. I sat down and a middle-aged or older Hispanic or Middle Eastern gave me the rudest look, while whispering and hiding her face talking on the phone. Meanwhile, there's a lot of talking and laughing over the wall where some cubicles are against the wall. After sitting there for a couple of minutes, I saw Carmen again and asked if that's where I wait for an insurance quote. She said she would put me in the system. After another minute or two, the same Middle Eastern woman and a bald Asian man are arguing on who's going to give me a quote because they were busy. I said they could keep their quote and walked out. Went to Carmen and removed my name from getting a quote. I was the only person waiting. Their customer service if horrific. They don't realize a quote with great customer service brings in a new customer. If they worked for me they would be gone. A message needs to be sent. You need to clean house. read more

Come in to renew my car tags. This location was packed but very well organized. When you first walk in you get inline. Once it's your turn the person will let you know to have a seat and they will call your name. But since I was there to get my tag I was sent to another line. Very quick and easy process. Paid the lady and got my tags right away. I've done to the dmv and it can be a headache to get your tags. Especially if you wait to the last min. I will definitely be coming back. read more

My mother needed to have a document notarized. We found some time to visit AAA over the weekend. Although calling in was a bit confusing for me. We went first thing in the morning to get the service we needed. Being first in line was a plus for us as we were in and out within 10mins. The confusing part is that I wanted to make an appointment but couldn't figure it out while making the call. I also didn't know how to speak to a representative rather than navigating through their automated menus. Upon arrival there was a sign that stated specifically for notaries, that an appoint was needed for Saturday visits. We did go on a Saturday with no appointment made but was still able to complete our task. The biggest plus is the price we paid as it was cheaper than other notaries. I also gave up and finally called the 800 number and asked that a manager at that location please return my call, no return call. On a completely different topic, I have also been trying to add a brand new 2024 vehicle to my insurance policy and we are going on day four now with no return phone call. I walked over at 4:30pm and the whole place looked closed. I turned around to leave and noticed a lady walking from the back of the building. I asked if she worked for AAA. She said no, but they are open. The gate was locked so she had to jump over a 5 foot fence and she fell. I helped her up and she said it looks closed but they are all hiding inside. So I hoped over the locked fence and walked around to the back. (Everything online said the office is open until 5. But no open signs and no signs with hours in the front of the building) I got to the back and the doors were locked. I went to leave and another customer walked out. I knocked and only then did someone come out and say, "how can I help"?! So I handed over my paperwork because you cannot go in. Half way through helping me they say, sorry it's five and we are closed. Please come back tomorrow at 9am. If you hate helping people, please don't work in customer service. It's just a shame that there's absolutely nothing that the public can do to fix a problem like this. Sure, everyone hopes that they don't have to work the last minute of the day, but I would never close shop and hide before closing time. It's a shame! read more
