Best gate company! We've relied on Dave over the years to help with a somewhat finicky electric gate that was on our property when we moved in. I was given a quote to install two automatic gate systems on an existing gated property. The owner, David gave me a quote but now is telling me I should have known it was not for the complete job. Why would I know that he didn't include BOTH gate "loops triggers" and now he expects me to pay an additional $787.00 for opening loop returns on both gates. I fear we will have to pay a real gate contractor to fix these gates that we have had nothing but trouble with since they have been installed. read more

I reached out to David Kissell and needed help with a gate repair. I had already had one company come out and they told me they could do nothing to fix the gate. They did say they could replace parts at a cost of close to $7000. David came out and did similar tests and had the gate running in about 15 minutes with a new battery. The cost was minimal by comparison and the repair was actually done the same day I called him. I got lucky he was in the area. Called David a couple weeks ago inquiring about installing a wand/loop system on my gate but wasn't sure which system would be best. He came out to Poway within a week of my call, took a look at my system and recommend a wand for my configuration and said he would gladly install it for me, but it was pretty easy to install myself and offered me a suggestion on which brand to buy. Installation wasn't hard, but it took me a few google searches to find out what wires go there so he saved me some $$$ by being an honest person. A few months back we contacted David Kassel at A Access Automation & Gate on behalf of our condo complex's HOA. We'd been having challenges with trespassers in our driveway, which runs off of the alley, and needed to have a security gate installed to prevent this. David came out once to quote, and then again to refine the bid based on our specific needs, meeting with us and our HOA president. Each encounter with David was professional and productive. He has a wealth of knowledge on automated gates, their unique requirements, and customization of them to the specific needs of the customer. We also needed our front gate's closure mechanism and automated door handle system upgraded. David came out a few times to refine the mechanisms and made them work so much better! He explained the process to us as he worked diligently to fix the challenges we were experiencing. About halfway through the gate project their new foreman, Dan King, hired on to the company. Dan made sure that every step of the process was communicated and executed to the highest standards! He came out for site inspections numerous times as the project progressed. The front gate needed more attention since it's a 25-year old gate with a pretty wonky latching system. Dan and his co-worker Arthur came out and spent several hours modifying, perfecting and adjusting the gate to work better than it has in years! Now, it closes and stays closed with no issues! The project is now complete. David, Dan and Arthur, as well as the rest of the team at A Access Automation & Gate have given us a flawless driveway security gate and an improved front gate. Dan programmed each remote, explained the gate's functionality, came out to make adjustments and refinements, communicated clearly and in a timely manner, and has assured completion of the projects to our GREAT satisfaction. I would not trust this company with any job. We paid $5,600 to have them automate our front gate. The level of craftsmanship is incredibly poor. I had a very nicely made gate that was painted with a protective coating. To automate my gate they hit it with a grinder and welded these galvanized brackets to the gate without trimming the excess. Then they hit the welds with a black rattle can paint that made a high-end gate look pretty cheap. I have attached pictures. Other contractors take pictures of this job to show to their friends so they can laugh about shoddy work. His attention to detail is very poor. We were pouring a new slab for our driveway and I fortunately I had asked for various conduits to be placed under the slab. When it came time for the install, he insisted that he told the contractor that he needed power on both sides of the gate (given his communication track record, I very much doubt this) as well as extra wiring for the gates to communicate (He definitely didn't ask for this because we had no idea what kind of wiring was actually needed). After the slab was poured he tried to blame the contractor. The gate automation has also broken three times in the three years that we've had it installed. His seemed to have no willingness to stand behind his product and acted like it was a major bother to him when we called. He also indicated over the phone that there would be a charge for him to come look at it. Given that we couldn't trust him to do more damage than good given the poor quality of work so far, we got someone else to look at it and repair it in each instance. The most recent failure came because he used cheap, thin tube steel and buried it directly into the dirt. This obviously rusted away (in three years) and we had to repair it again. I cannot stress enough that you should run way from this company. You will be picking up the pieces for all their crappy work for years to come. read more

I would not trust this company with any automated gate jobs. We paid over $15,000 to have them install two automatic gate systems to an existing gated property. I contracted with David In July 2023 and most of the installation wasn't even completed until October 2023. We immediately started having issues with the gates not working or working intermittently. After many phone calls and conversations over the next few months David claimed he would be out to make the repairs but failed to show up on many occasions. When he did actually show up he just made the problems worse, the 2nd concrete foundation he layed was worse than the first one, the motors were crooked, had exposed wires and still not working properly. We finally had enough and went to other contractors for bids to fix the gates. The other contractors were appalled at his shoty worked. We ended up having to repour one of the concrete slabs and replace both motors. The new contractor completed the work in 3 days. Where as it took David 4 months to not even complete the work so that we could have acceptable working gates. We ended up having to pay the 2nd contractor another 10k on top of what we already paid David. Totally unacceptable!!! I would not recommend this company at all! read more

I have used this company 2X now. They are outstanding, fair, and the most knowledgeable company in automatic gates. We used them some time ago to upgrade a gate with automatic safety devices, so that if something is in the way, the gate won't close. They installed the deivces and did a very professional job. The price was reasonable and the work was perfect. Just recently the gate wasn't working right and I called them to come and fix it. They came and fixed it and told me there would be no charge, even though the parts were out of warranty, they still did it for free! I was blown away. I called David about installing an "invisible fence" in our backyard for our three indoor/outdoor cats. Coyote sightings were a common occurrence in our residential community. I wasn't comfortable buying any type of pet fence package sold by Amazon or any other online pet fence company. What if the collars didn't work? What if I installed it incorrectly? David provided me with a quote and lots of assurance the invisible fence was definitely worth the cost. He also provided a ton of useful information about pet fence safety specific to cats. He was very professional and personable. The invisible pet fence was installed timely and impeccably by his technician. David came out the following day with the cat collars and helped put them on all three cats. He stayed while we tested the collars . . . a learning curve experience for sure! Cats didn't want to go back outside for a week. It wasn't a breeze, but the cats eventually ventured out (just as David said they would), found the 3' perimeter inside the wrought iron fence and 3 months later, the cats love being outdoors and I have peace of mind that they're not going to escape. Worth every dollar I spent - and more! I've had many questions since the installation and David responds within 24 hours. All I need to do now is reward my cats for catching the mice that chewed through the fence wire (which David repaired within 48 hours!) Awesome. read more

This owner made an appointment for 1:30 - 2:30 with me. After driving across town to meet him on time, there was a voicemail saying he had come by without me being there. He had no idea of what work I wanted done but left me a long message about what he presumed it might be. Not only was he wrong about what I needed but it could not have been seen from the street. He wasted my entire day and cost me several hours of drive time. His remarks...."Don't you have a cell phone?". Arrogance does not take my money. It is a blessing he showed who he was prior to doing any work because contractors who do not feel the need to keep agreements, don't follow through on work either. I'm grateful he is not going to be in my life, but he should have apologized immediately for not keeping agreements. Instead it was MY fault for not checking home messages. read more

The Long Version! About a month ago I contacted David, owner of this gate company ( also known as Creepy Creeper), to come install an opener on my gate. We exchanged emails and he gave me a quote and a date for the job to be done. The magical day comes and goes and no David. I called and called. Finally he calls me the next day and gives me some lame excuse. I only stayed with him at this point because I did not want to wait weeks for one of the other companies to have time available. Who was it that said patience is a virtue, well turns out it'll also save you money ( let alone the fact that it turns out Golem was coming to install my gate. He says he will come later that day to do the work. He shows up at 6 pm and say he doesn't have time and her will be back in the am. The next day he doesn't show till 4pm. At this point I guess I'm the idiot for letting him continue with the job ( only Frodo Baggins could save me from Golem now). I had told him from the beginning that I had to go to vegas and the job needed to be done before I left. Well it was not and I had to leave. I get a call after I arrive in vegas from him letting me know he wants to be paid. I offer my credit card and he says it has to be cash. Well that kinda weird but ok I tell him he'll have to wait till I get back. He then goes on to tell me how he cannot afford to pay his employees if I don't give him cash that minute. I think to myself how is this my problem and what kind of business man shares that information with a customer. Let alone that fact that he did the job by himself, so any employees he needed to pay for work was work done at another job that he should have the money from. I can only imagine what this creep does with his money. I'm not even going to get into the fact that I live with 4 young beautiful girls and the total creeper behavior he displayed around them when I was gone. Creepy creeper then proceeded to blame me for his business troubles and things going wrong in his life and so forth. I'm like whoa dude. I just wanted my gate installed, I'm not your shrink and this is not Opera. I tell him I can give him my card now or cash when I get back. He hangs up. SUPER PROFESSIONAL!! Seriously at this point I can't really be surprised. This is what happens when you do business with tweakers. So I get back on Monday and he comes to get his money. Only now the price went up. The gate openers that were included with the installation are now going to cost me $40 each. Are you Kidding. What a slime ball. I'm just absolutely disgusted with this human at this point. I pay him the extra money and let him know how unhappy I am and that I will be writing about this. He then threatens me, he says that if I tell anyone that he will find out where I work and write a negative review about my business. WTF!! Is this guy for real. Almost a month later the gate stopped working. I call him cause supposedly its under warranty. Well he threatens to take me to small claims if I won't pay him to fix it. David helped me design and then installed an electric 2-wing gate across my driveway. Since I wanted security, not glitz, he suggested that he have the iron frame made and install the program box and that I could then have the fencing people use 6' dog-ear fence to cover the gate-frame so it was less expensive and matched the rest of the front yard fence. This was a huge savings for me. The gate has been in use for over 6 years and it works great! The remotes are easy to program. I've only had 1 service call and 1 clean/check/recalibrate call. I've called a few times with questions and David is clear enough over the phone that I've been able to fix things myself. That gate is one of the best additions to my house. Complete security, no one gets to my house unless I've opened the gate! Love it! If I had another driveway, I'd call David to gate it, quick! read more

I had two different companies out before I called this one and they both charged for parts that didn't fix the problem. AAA gate came out and it was as simple as adjusting the photo eye into a position where it wouldn't get rained on. The owner was the one who came out (along with an apprentice) and he was so much more informed and knowledgeable than the other two technicians. Since you pay for an hour and it only took a couple minutes to fix the problem, he went ahead and serviced the gate, made adjustments and lubed, and also checked the other parts to make sure everything was good. I would recommend them and will use them again in the future. read more

I live up in Crest. After talking to David on the phone, he showed up to give me a free estimate and was able to install a new opener on my gate the very next morning. I loved that he was able to schedule the job right away because my needs were immediate. Several months after my gate opener was installed, I had an issue with the weld breaking after my gate hit something. Totally my fault but still, it's broken...What do I do? As a property manager of single family homes, good vendors are a must! I've used A Access Automation before and was pleased but didn't post a review. Why now? Because I had a tenant, in an upscale rental, call about their gate on a Sunday afternoon. Did I say it was Mother's Day? It was. The gate was stuck closed and they could not get out of their property. On a wing and a prayer I called David at A Access and -- you got it -- he picked up the phone! He gave me instructions to pass onto the tenant over the phone which got them through the weekend. That is excellent service by any standard. The plus: they do great work as well. Extremely disappointed in their lack of customer service and failure to complete the job. The estimation process went smooth, I set them up with my HOA management but they failed to complete the contract. Taking time off from work is frustrating enough but when a company fails to maintain their end of the contract it is difficult to understand. If you need gate services find someone more reliable. Their website doesn't have the Better Business Bureau logo and no contractor's license number displayed so perhaps I should have known better.
