Capel Rugs - One of the Farmhouse traditional rugs. Corgi for scale.

We recently built a new home in a completely different style than our previous home; transitional…read morevs farmhouse. Fully open floor plan, miles of hardwood. I was sure of the furniture, but with 3 dogs, I certainly wasn't spending for fine wool or silk in every area. The two salespersons I worked with at Capel Richmond were stellar. They spent hours with me "trying on" different rug styles and colors against photos of my furniture. They dropped anything I asked to see without hesitation. They guided me to options that work for us without feeling pushy or "managed". They helped me mimic more high style expensive looks with dog-friendly materials. The showroom is neat and organized, and large enough to get a sense of the carpets. While the "on hand" selection is a little limited, they represent everything available on the website very well. You can at least view a style or manufacturer in one size and order the other. One of mine that was not in stock took 6 days or get to the store. That's incredible these days. I did a lot of shopping for this house. Every room is new. These folks were the best of the bunch. Sales is a craft, as is design, and they do both well. Oh yeah, did I mention that the rug every room is absolutely what I wanted in there? It is. Zero compromise. Good Job, Capel, we'll be back.

We came in just to look hadn't really determined what size would work but after determining the size that would work she let us know a rug we would probably like that had just come in and she was right and we came in and bought it. There was a large selection of all sizes and prices and our 9x12 came at a great price and being Memorial weekend we received 15% off Great experience !

Christian-Lorraine - Cleaned and repaired oriental rug

Just got back a small rug I dropped off about 3-4 weeks ago for a cleaning and some restoration and…read moreit looks great! Last Christmas, while rummaging through my partner's parent's garage, they wanted to get rid of a small 3 by 4 Persian rug. It was all rolled up out of shape, had a very strong musty smell from being in a smoker's house previously, and just a bit shabby from being abandoned in a non-climate controlled garage for years. I swooped it up and hoped to get it cleaned and fixed for use. I procrastinated for a few months (well, almost a year!) about dropping it off for cleaning since I was afraid it would be very expensive just for a cleaning and dreaded whatever quote for repairs would be. After doing some research, I found CL on Yelp and browsed their site for a bit. Everything was clearly laid out in term of prices and services so I felt comfortable moving forward with the cleaning. I swung by store to drop of my rug. They quoted me a $25 minimum cleaning fee since the rug was small, and recommended an odor treatment for an extra $5 which I agreed to. They examined the rug and recommended that the ends get re-threaded and the backing getting reinforced with leather to prevent further curling that thad already set it. They also noted that some of the dye had started bleeding and warned that a cleaning may make it worse. I figured I had nothing to lose so I was OK with that. They didn't pressure me into getting anything done just yet, offered to do a cleaning first to see how the rug turned out and we could decide then. About two weeks later the cleaning was completed and a got a call from a lady who said that they could move forward with restoration if I wanted. I came by again, took a look at it and the cleaning had actually improved some of the curling and asked them which repair would be most beneficial right now as I couldn't afford to do everything (it was $110 for the re-threading and $160 I believe for the leather reinforcement). They recommended the re-threading since the rug was appearing to be unraveling on one end; I agreed to that. Another two weeks passed and I got another call saying the restoration was complete. The rug looks great and the re-threading also helped some of the curling issues, but eventually I imagine it'll need further work but for now, it will do! The staff was friendly, but straightforward and you can tell this is something they really love doing and put effort into. Should I come across anymore abandoned rugs, I will definitely come back here.

They were helpful, explaining their cleaning and repair process. They were very up front with the costs and I got my estimate quickly. It was easy to set up pick up and drop off at my home. The pick up and drop off service is excellent. The fringe repair and edge repair is like new again. The worn spot repair is perfect again. My rug looks like new again. They were able to get my rug back a couple of weeks ahead of schedule. I am impressed with their services. I highly recommend Christian Lorraine.

*This review is solely for the carpet cleaning aspect of the business*…read more I recently took 5 or 6 of my parents rugs to Shala for cleaning and they did a fantastic job. I walked in and was warmly greeted by a young man (forgot his name, but he was very nice) who helped me drag the rugs out of my trunk. He gave me an estimate on how much the rugs would cost to clean (charge by the sq. ft.) and also told me they could fix the fraying at the end of the rugs where the vacuum had done its damage. Considering my parents have had their rugs for 30 years, it was worth having them fix the fraying so that they'd last at least another 30 years. I also happened to casually mention that my parents had 3 or 4 giant rugs that were too big to fit in my car, and I was told that they would drive down to Hampton to pick them up, clean them, and then bring them back. That's where Shala got it's 5th star from me. All i could say was, "please and thank you!" The first set of rugs were cleaned and returned after about 3 weeks, and the larger rugs should be returned in the next week or so. The smaller ones look great, the damage has been fixed, and I'm confident the large rugs will look great as well.
