These are the "Notes" that David represented as a quote.

Home Depot sent us a total of two recommended PRO-Services for our Deck Installation Project. - AAA All Star Construction was one of them. We met with AAA All Star Construction Inc. estimator David on July, 27, 2022, and we were told by him that he has quite a bit of experience. He started to measure the project area, including the existing concrete porch, which we want to keep and include in the deck construction. David was the only estimator who wanted to "cut" openings into the concrete in order to insert the wood framing for the deck. We found that strange since this would affect the integrity of the concrete. Still, we continued letting him take the measurements he needed for the quote. Then, when we asked him how long it would take to get the estimate, he stated that he could give us something right then and there. So, he whipped out a form with the header stating "Notes", filled in the gaps and told us that this is the estimate. Attached is the page he gave us. We looked at the page and asked him if he was also going to give us a more detailed printed estimate that includes the scope of work. He said "No, that's how I do this". David also stated that the document we wanted was taking at a minimum of 2 hours to write, especially since he would have to research some things. The final straw he pulled was when he stated that he only gave the detailed estimate to serious customers. We reminded him that we are serious about this, but because of what he said to us, we would rather go with another contractor. He then walked it back and made the promise to get us the detailed estimate before Friday, July 29, 2022 or soon thereafter. We are still waiting for that detailed estimate. As a side note: We called the company on or around August 1, 2022 in order to find out what happened to the detailed printed estimate that David had promised. We were told by office staffer Monique that she would let the owner know about it. That was on or about August 1, 2022. So far, we have not heard back from AAA All Star Construction Inc. We have now reached a point where we believe that Home Depot is associated with Deck builders or general contractors who do not wish to conduct business on behalf of Home Depot.

We had some small step downs inside our house that we wanted to make safer and better looking. We met with Mario from AAA All Star and were a bit surprised that his solution was to create concrete ramps to fix the situation. We were even more surprised at the price he quoted: $3500 for three small concrete ramps-tiled to match existing tile. But this company had been recommended by a large home improvement store so we went with it. We could not find any tiles to match so Mario suggested we leave it bare. We asked for a partial reduction since the tile was the most labor intensive. He wouldn't reduce the price. He argued with me about that price and became very heated. He finally threatened to walk off the job and leave us with the tile all dug up and looking terrible. He told me that he had worker's compensation insurance to pay and he wasn't budging. I had t leave the room and let my mother deal with him since he was becoming enraged. He did end up apologizing and took a measly $300 off of the bill. The concrete looks like garbage and the workers tried to leave with part of the ramp unfinished. I didn't realize that contractors could be so dishonest but I will be wary from now on. And needless to say we will NEVER use these clowns again!

We recently underwent a kitchen and bathroom remodel including bringing down load bearing walls in a historic district, all of which required very detailed permits. Our GC David was extremely knowledgeable and prepared in all aspects. We found him and his team extremely reliable, professional and personable. The remodel took the exact time we were told, as everyone stayed on task, and David was there every day to check in on the progress. Of course there were some unexpected issues, as is prone to happen with a big remodel, but David was always very reasonable in helping us find the best solution. This all happened during the "safer at home" with COVID-19, so we ended up spending lots of time at home with them sectioned off in another room, and I can vouch that David, Jose, Byron, Tomer and the rest of the team are genuinely good, hard workers that get the job done beautifully.

I could not be more satisfied with my home addition that AAA All Star Construction completed! I had received quotes from other contractors, but AAA's integrity and fair pricing was clear from the beginning and they never let me down throughout the process. They honored the payment schedule and were available to listen to concerns, answer questions, and ensure that I was satisfied with the work being done. I worked directly with David and William on my project and was impressed with the skillset of the crew working on my home. They were efficient and paid close attention to detail, going above and beyond, in many cases. Their office staff, specifically Monique, was always available to assist and maintained a cheerful, positive attitude even when we faced challenges dealing with the City permit department. Living through home renovations is never a fun experience, but AAA made it much more tolerable and I am thrilled with how it turned out! I would recommend AAA All Star Construction to anyone considering a major home addition or large construction project.

Before contracting with Dwell for a full home, down-to-the-studs reno of a 50-yr old Pasadena home, I'd fired two general contractors: The first was a luxury, longstanding (30 yr) Pasadena firm that was simply too doctrinaire, languid, and non-responsive in their approach; the second was the opposite: too green, easily overwhelmed, and quickly passive aggressive and combative in communications to the point I was uneasy handing over the keys to demo and reno my home. I reset, cast a wide net for new prospects and interviewed 11 firms, all while recognizing that perhaps my expectations were too high and I was part of the problem. Gio confidently asserted that I *should* have high expectations, as it was my home that I was renovating. Fast forward, and the end product is phenomenal, surpassing my expectations without a single regret. A few notes: 1. Client dedication: Dwell and its full team (Gio, my phenomenal project manager Michael, Santiago, and the office team) all never gave a doubt that their focus is on doing the job right; i.e. in a manner that the client and the Dwell team would both share pride in. I'd be remiss if I didn't say Gio and Michael demonstrated a strong ability and interest in understanding the client's vision and truly wanting to bring it to fruition (far beyond simply delivering a product and moving onto the next project, as you risk coming across among other GCs). 2. Productive subs: Dwell knows its subcontractors well and they are each true craftsmen. Each was professional and courteous, regularly going beyond my expectations before I'd even seen their work product for the first time (e.g., more electrical outlets than I'd imagined from electrical sub, the kindest gentleman focused on getting the cabinetry and wood finishes "just right," a foundation and framing sub with steady-handed focus and easy client rapport...). Routinely, Dwell got quick responsiveness from subs, including when I'd mistakenly given the wrong delivery date for pricey patio doors (long story short: I realized my error at 6:30pm the night before and Michael and team very serenely hustled and were able to get their installers onsite the next morning to receive and install $20k patio doors; done with professional realism that it wasn't guaranteed yet effort to ensure the safety and secure install). 3. Realistic, predictable pricing: Gio tries to price projects right from the outset to do the job well. Plenty of contractors will lowball with a likely intent to add endless change orders or limit what is delivered. Dwell, in my experience, priced the project to do it well from the start and minimize any surprises or impediments that would limit them from doing the job they believe you actually want, regardless of what other contractors may tell you. 4. Respectful: There was not a single moment of tension or confusion. Michael, Gio, and team communicated incredibly effectively, even when your day job limits attentiveness or creates time demands. They more than understand and give advance heads up of items coming up for you to weigh in on, or suggestions to make the project go smoothly if you're time-constrained. 5. Humor: I'd moved from New York and was blunt at the outset that I didn't need to be best friends with a contractor, but I do expect basic courteousness and professionalism; they easily brushed past my concerns and regularly had me laughing. Doing a full home reno takes up a lot of mental space even when it goes well; to not be stressed but actually laughing through it is priceless. [As a post-script, I should mention that the reno was completed and I moved back into the place 2 weeks prior to the January 2025 Eaton Fire that ravaged Altadena and came within 4 blocks to my place before miraculously dissipating, sparing my block and the house. The care and concern that Gio, Michael, and team demonstrated despite the project having already been completed far exceeded what I could've imagined. This is a team that cares.] Big cheers to Dwell--Gio, Michael, and team: they have built a unique team culture in a tough business where it is easy for clients to be trepidatious and cautious. He gave us a lot of ideas that showed he's been doing this a long time, and it honestly made it easier to trust the whole process from the start. After that, spent time at the office going over everything in detail. The full walk through helped a lot because nothing felt vague or rushed. It was clear how the design would turn into real work, step by step. Questions were answered as they came up, and things were explained in a way that actually made sense. Once things got going, communication stayed solid. Gili and Michael were both easy to reach and stayed involved the whole time. Updates came regularly, and if something needed to change or be adjusted, it was talked through without any attitude or stress. The office team was also really helpful and kept everything moving smoothly in the background. Overall, the whole experience felt organized but still very human. Things weren't perfect every single day, but that's normal with a project like this. What mattered was that people followed through, kept communication open, and delivered what was promised. End result came out great and matched what was discussed from the beginning.

We interviewed three different contractors, and Joe was the only one who took the time to truly understand our vision. He met with us not once, but twice, to go over our goals in detail, including our budget. And never once pressured us to go beyond it! As first-timer tackling a major renovation, his honest advice (including what he would do if he were in our shoes) was incredibly valuable and reassuring. This was a massive project: remodeling three bathrooms, replacing sewer pipes under both the front and back of the house, mold remediation, asbestos removal, modernizing the exterior, painting inside and out, updating trim, swapping chandeliers and canned lighting, replacing interior doors, and installing a new front door and garage door. Joe truly has teams for everything, that is skilled professionals he's worked with for 10+ years and it shows in the quality and coordination of the work. His crew was consistently kind, respectful, and punctual. Every morning they showed up on time and treated our home with care. With a small child in the house, safety was a huge concern for us, and they went above and beyond to make sure everything was secure and safe for her at all times. Joe also made sure no corners were cut. He handled permits thoroughly and professionally, and when we ran into a particularly difficult inspector, Joe personally came to the house to ensure everything was up to code so we wouldn't face further delays. That level of ownership and commitment is rare. We constantly get compliments from friends and neighbors about how our 1960s home looks completely transformed, in the best way. We liked our house when we bought it, but now we absolutely LOVE it, and that's all because of Joe and his team. Joe is just a genuinely warm, lovely person who truly goes above and beyond. We can't say enough good things about him. If you're considering a contractor, don't hesitate - G&M Home Remodeling is the one.

The project ran about six months. The short version: we'd hire them again. The longer version: Jacob, the design lead, is the reason we went with them. He has a genuine passion for old buildings and pushed to preserve original details that another contractor would have torn out without a second thought. That instinct matters when you're working on something irreplaceable. Ken managed the project more quietly but kept things moving.
