I called Suffolk Appliance and the gentleman on the phone checked and had the part and quoted me a reasonable price over the phone. When I got there to pick the part up his partner said the part was actually $5.00 less than the phone quote. They could have charged me the higher price and I would never known, or cared but they didn't. The guy that quoted the higher price apologized about it too. No problem! I bought a replacement belt while I was there as a precaution, not due to a sales pitch. Straight up, professionals. I contacted Nadir and scheduled an appointment. After describing my problem, Nadir returned my messages quickly and we discussed when would be an opportune time for both of us. Thankfully, we were able to schedule something within a few days. Nadir said he would arrive sometime in a one-hour window, and it's been my experience that people usually come towards the end of that window. Nadir, however, actually came fifteen minutes early. He listened to my description of the problem (popping noise, burning smell, dryer wouldn't turn on), and used that information to predict what the problem was. He then confirmed his suspicions and showed me what the problem was. Nadir quoted me a price, which included the $75 diagnosis fee. He did not have the parts immediately, which was understandable because I have an older dryer, but told me he would come back later that afternoon. I went out to run some errands and he again returned early. Unfortunately, I was not home yet but he did not mind waiting. Once I returned, Nadir fixed the dryer as promised. He also took care of some maintenance issues related to the dryer (i.e. fixing lint dryer vent) at no additional charge. What really makes Nadir stand out, however, is his customer service. After a few days of the repair, my dryer started making a squeaking noise. I didn't want to risk my dryer going out again, so I asked Nadir if the squeaking was related to his repair. He said he didn't think it was, but he came by anyway to check. He was right -- it was a wheel bearing that was making the noise. It was not related to his initial repair, but he went ahead and addressed it as part of his warranty program. Great business. Would definitely call him again for appliance repairs.

I was waiting at my all day and he never returned my calls and never showed up. Not even a text as a courtesy. So he can't fix things and can't communicate. Definitely look elsewhere.

He came by with an assistant, wearing masks and putting booties on their shoes when they walked in the house. He took apart the dryer and diagnosed the problem as a bad motor and he'd order the part, pick it up and install it the next day. So the next day, I took off work so I can get this taken care of and I didn't hear from him by mid day. I figured it would be later on, but decided to give him a call anyway to see the status but it went to voicemail. I called 2 more times that day with no call back. I took off of work because he said he was coming the next day and he never showed up or even bothered to call me. The next day he did call me in the morning and said he will come that following day. He finally came and fixed the dryer which I was grateful for. He did leave a small mess behind which is in the picture, plus a little more, which included plastic wrappers, the old motor belt, screws, and a water bottle all on the floor. Like I said, I was grateful for him to fix the dryer but at least clean up after you are done especially since there is a garage can within 4 feet of the dryer. It did cost me a couple hundred bucks, which I felt was a little high, but I also felt I was at the mercy of a repairman during a pandemic and just needed it fixed. Overall, I am glad he fixed the dryer. If he communicated better and cleaned up after himself, this would be a little bit more of a positive review.

When it started needing service, I had two options, go back to Jimmy at Cerini in the Bronx, or see what was around on this side of the Throgs Neck / East River. Turnpike Appliance has kept my machine serviced to nearly top-notch condition every time. She's an old crow of a machine by today's standards, but still makes a perfect espresso. She's been in for a new brew unit, grinder, and a digital display. One time she needed a return visit and they guaranteed a repair and didn't charge me. That's a class act. The machine is picked up when done with a full detailing each time. Clean!! My sensor for the water tank is starting to go next, and since I'll be providing a filtered water line, I'll need that fixed. I called them over the phone and they were awesome, explaining how the water sensor can be faulty or backwards for me to check on my own. If they're able to keep my espresso machine alive this long, maybe they should consider becoming doctors and we can live to over 100 years old.
