The day of my delivery ‍

I've met extraordinary people, but you surpassed all expectations. When I was searching for someone to help me give birth to my son, I set out to find the best in their essence and knowledge. It took me a long time to connect with you, but when the moment arose, it was magical and inexplicable. Without pretenses, without rushing, or prejudices, we both flowed. When the time came for my son to arrive, that September 13, 2025, at 9:40 p.m., God and life would teach us one last life lesson together. Everything was going very well with my pregnancy and delivery until a hemorrhage after my birth surprised us both, although I never doubted I was in the best hands--God's, of course, and yours. Your knowledge from the beginning and your recommendations helped me tremendously to be able to enjoy my life in these moments. You guided me like a true professional, and at the time of the emergency, you didn't doubt your instinct and knowledge for a moment. You accompanied me, holding not only my hand but also my husband's. Thanks to you, your professionalism, and your expertise, we can remember that day as something magical and powerful, but without romanticizing the moment. Thank you so much, AA Midwifery, but above all, thank you, Denise Mungia, for being my little angel. I will bless your life and purpose for the rest of my life.

When you finally meet the little feet that have been kicking you for months!

As a first time mom, I only wanted the best for my baby and me. I started out with an OB at Care for Women's, but switched to midwifery care shortly after. My husband and I did a tour with Denise and it went so great that we put our deposit down as soon as it was over. I could see the difference in the quality of care with a midwife immediately. First off, the atmosphere at the birth center is very inviting and makes you feel right at home. Denise and Alyssa are so kind, supportive, and make you feel comfortable. They are the best and were such a dream to work with. I had a wonderful pregnancy and every appointment went smoothly. I always looked forward to coming in. They provided me with so much knowledge and answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed with either of them. Denise has amazing referrals for anything you need. I've gone to a few a them and have always been happy. She also works with an incredible backup OB, Dr. Lamberty. You do an OB visit with him at the end of your pregnancy that way he's able to deliver your baby if you transfer to the hospital. I began early labor at 39 weeks and when things weren't progressing as they should have, Denise had me come in for an NST. My baby's heart rate dipped for a longer than normal period during the test. She immediately contacted Dr. Lamberty and he advised me to come to the hospital for more tests. Denise met us there, helped us get checked in, and stayed with us for a few hours. We found out my fluids levels were too low and that I had been leaking amniotic fluid. So they told me I had to stay and deliver there. Dr. Lamberty didn't push any type of induction on me. He gave me the chance to let my body labor on its own to see how I progressed. Labor progressed just fine and my healthy baby boy was delivered by him the next day. Of course this was not the birth I planned for, but I will say that my hospital birth was a positive experience. I felt supported in my wishes and wasn't pressured to do anything. I'm so grateful for Denise using her expertise during my early labor, otherwise we wouldn't have known I needed more medical attention. So don't worry, you're in great hands no matter what happens! After my son's birth, we were seen by Denise and Alyssa for our postpartum and newborn care. These appointments have been so nice and we've loved getting to spend more time with them. They've taken such great care of me and my son. These two women will always be part of our family and hold a special place in our hearts. I would 1000% recommend getting midwifery care here. This is an experience I will always cherish and be grateful for. One of my biggest dreams is that more women can get midwifery care. This really should be the standard for us. Until then, I will keep spreading the word.

Denise and her team are an absolute dream- they were my saving grace after an unpleasant experience with another center. From my first contact with them, Mosi was extremely patient, caring and reassuring! I came into their care halfway through my pregnancy and I kick myself for not having started sooner. During our tour, Denise was so comforting about our situation to transfer care and any concerns we might've had, I immediately grasped her level of care and attention to detail, and my husband and I immediately knew we wanted her as our medical care professional. Denise and her team are so knowledgeable and you can trust that they want the best for you throughout your journey; they were constantly available to guide you in supplement care, nutritional care and physical care with a plethora of knowledge and a variety of solid recommendations! They also have great connections for referrals if you're wanting to add chiropractic care, acupuncturist, birth educators, doulas, etc. Before coming into AA Midwiferies care, I felt such a huge anxiety about what my birth experience would be, but as soon as I transferred care, I was calmed by the fact that I had found a team whose birth visions and support aligned with mine. Denise and Alyssa truly listen to your desires and any concern you may have. Each appointment is spent teaching you about your journey and guiding you to tune in with your body to ensure the best outcome for you and your baby. I looked forward to every appointment because Denise and Alyssa were always so warm, open and welcoming! And I looked forward to my birth because I knew I could trust in them. I am truly so grateful for these angel midwives in making my pregnancy and delivery such a positive one. They are the absolute best care in the IE!

I had the most amazing experience at the A&A BIRTHING CENTER. This experience was a dream come true since I enjoy everything natural and it was everything I hoped for. I don't even know where to begin. STAFF: Denise (midwife) from the moment I met her I felt a comforting connection, I knew this was the place for me. She and Alyssa were very caring, knowledgeable, professional, attentive and kind. They were always there to answer all of my questions no matter the hour, and boy, did I have questions! Mosi, works the front desk and is always very welcoming and greets you with a comforting smile on her face. They were like family as they knew you very well given that they were with me every step of the way. ATMOSPHERE: As soon as you walk into the birthing center you feel this homey vibe. The waiting room is so comfy as they have nice firm couches and plush pillows which is always a plus for me because I personally like something to grab for comfort. I really appreciated their calming aromatherapy options. It was excellent in helping bring me to a relaxing state during the birthing process. There are 2 rooms to choose from, both rooms have nice spacious bathtubs if you opt for a water birth, which I did, you have the option to choose your room. Both have comfortable beds as well. I loved the entire setting starting from the dim lighting to the relaxing soundtrack playing in the backround. As opposed to the hospitals who don't have the luxury of accommodating individuals based on their high volume of patients. At this birthing center, I was flattered to find that I would be the only mommy to be attended while in labor. The Bathrooms are very clean and well kept They were stocked with feminine products if needed. My guests had their designated washrooms as did I. I totally loved this setting, this place exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be returning for my next birthing experience. SERVICE: A&A Birth center has top tier service. I always looked forward to my next appointment with Denise and Alyssa. They always made me feel calm, afterall, it was my first pregnancy and naturally I had plenty of questions and concerns. The appointments were about an hour, I never felt rushed. They always spaced out their appointments in order to give their undivided attention to me. They treated me as if I were a family member by giving me special attention. We would go over my nutrition, exercise routines, and prenatal care. I was also very interested in breathing and relaxation given that I struggle with anxiety within tense situations. (I feel birth qualifies as a tense situation). I took a class on hypnotherapy which took place at the birthing center. I learned so much during these classes such as breathing techniques, relaxation, all of which came in handy during labor. Denise is also so well connected with so many people and providers that know all about pregnancy and postpartum. She gave me referrals for an OB GYN, pediatrician, chiropractor, lactation consultant, doulas', masseus', hypnobirthing, etc. All the providers she recommended were equally as amazing. What I liked about Denise was that she was so thorough and structured, she went over everything and options for your baby once born and never pushed certain treatments on me. The service is definitely a 5 STAR treatment. I just felt heard and always went home with a smile on my face. WATERBIRTH EXPERIENCE: I got there around 2:45am and both Denise and Alyssa were waiting for me. I really loved that my fiancé, my mom, and my sister were able to witness my birth, of course, with necessary COVID protocals in place (at home covid tests were taken). As soon as Denise saw me and checked me she told me I was ready. I was in the bathtub around 3:00am. Denise made me feel empowered to trust my body up to the point of birth. I felt supported every second. Whenever I felt painful contractions, Alyssa reminded me to breathe and to remember my hypnobirthing techniques. When it was finally time to push they encouraged me to release any fear that was holding me back. My baby was born at 7:15 am. Denise caught my baby and quickly placed her on me for skin to skin contact. I was able to bond with my baby for a few hours. We were released around 11am and I was sent home with a postpartum kit and instructions. I went back to my postpartum appointment 2 days after for a check up, where Denise helped me with breastfeeding guidance. I returned 2 weeks later and finally then again for my 6 week post partum visit. Again every visit was very informative and helpful, they were all very excited to see my babys growth! To conclude I had the most amazing experience, I will definitely come back to Denise and Alyssa when I give birth to my 2nd child. If you all want a great experience and service A &A will definitely exceed all your expectations!

Peaceful breath work through my surges

I could write a book on how amazing our experience was here from our first appointment to our last postpartum visit, but this will have to suffice! A strong connection from the start, tender and personalized prenatal care, peaceful and supportive labor, and just as invested postpartum care. Here's a quick version of our experience From the moment my husband and I walked in, we instantly felt a connection. Then finding out they have a natural-minded approach - just like us - won us over! I loved the tour; it all felt so cozy, clean, and calm in this birth center that I thought, "this is it!" Our midwife, Denise, politely and passionately explained to us everything AA Midwifery has to offer in prenatal and postpartum care. All of our questions were answered thoughtfully and transparently. If there's anything they don't offer, they have many trusted referrals to suggest. I love that they even have a mini library of books you can check out! (I checked out a few myself) Rest assured, there are no judgements here, all views are respected and delicately handled (of course mutual respect should always be practiced!) Their office manager, Mosy, made getting an appointment and having communication to the birth center easy. At every appointment I felt like the only pregnant mama in the world, that's how individualized the care is here! It was not a quick 15 min. OB appointment, but rather a 45 min. to an hour (sometimes longer hehee) appointment of covering every aspect of care possible for me and my baby in each stage including nutrition, emotional support, and natural ways to stay healthy and feel better if I was having any issues. Denise and the midwife students Ana, Irene, and Alyssa made us feel like family. It felt like I was going to see some close friends or family while making sure me and my baby were healthy. Every question or concern we had was answered promptly, which had us feeling very confident about our journey. Our birth was everything and more! My labor surges began at 12:30am, so I thought alright it's time to braid my hair and put my breathing techniques to work! Before coming in, I was having both back and abdominal pains, so Denise kindly sent me exercises to do at 2am so baby could turn from his posterior position to the anterior position. Thankfully they worked and we headed to the birth center at 4am! There's no comparison between birthing at the center and our previous hospital birth; the support and peacefulness we experienced was magical. Upon arrival, Denise, Ana, and Irene were waiting for us. I was checked an already at 7cm so into the tub I went! The amazing guidance I had helped me to control the pain from my surges (most of the time!) since I was so comfortable and relaxed in the tub, keeping my mind at ease was a breeze which translated to my body being at ease. With baby having his little hand up causing me back pain, I needed that calmness lol. Having my husband there by my side and these wonderful ladies ensuring that our health and serenity were all protected made me feel so confident about this birth, it all went by so quickly! After changing into different positions in the tub several times and only a few pushes, my baby boy was born swimming at 6:29am on 2-22-2022 He was checked thoroughly and so was I. We were both great thankfully! At each postpartum visit my son and I had wonderful care. His height and weight changes were checked, we had breastfeeding guidance, and I was checked thoroughly for any issues. They handled us with great care, always so gentle! Thank you AA Midwifery for treating us like family and joining us on our magical pregnancy and birth journey I'll surely miss going in regularly to see you lovely ladies! I'll be sure to visit!

She was referred to me from a friend, yet I still did my own research and interviewed a few other midwives before committing and I felt like she was the best fit. Each prenatal visit was at least an hour long - she gave me time to ask my questions and never made me feel silly or brushed me off. Having no previous exposure to a home birth, I had a lot of questions yet she answered them all gracefully and in great detail - giving my the confidence I needed to believe in myself that I could do this and that it is safe. Also included in the package was a prenatal massage around 36 weeks and when I tell you it was the best massage in my life - you have to believe me! It was amazing! That hour flew by and I was ready to book another one When I went into labor, I waited until almost the last minute to tell anyone, just to be sure it was the real thing. Well, it was the real thing and it was go time by the time my husband got home from work and Heather arrived. But she didn't waste any time, she jumped in and gave me the encouragement and reassurance I needed to get through transition and birth my baby girl. She was so amazing and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. My 3 year old was there and Heather included her in everything and never pushed her out of the way. Even though I was almost pushing as she walked through the door, she still handled everything with such a calmness and peacefulness that it made that crazy intense last part of birth go so perfectly. If I decide to have baby number 3, a home birth will definitely be my preferred route and Heather would be at the top of my list of midwives (but I would give a longer heads up next time ).

I immediately was drawn to her gentle ways of being, moving, and methods of sharing birthing knowledge. Her words embraced my heart and I immediately knew that she was a gifted doula. In time, I discovered that Chula Doula was not an ordinary doula, no; she was a compassionate body and sexual healer, a radical reproductive health educator, a pregnancy masseuse, an herbalist, and an expert birth worker. Since then, I have attended numerous of Chula Doula's workshops on reproductive health. She provides a comfortable and radical space to discuss the reproductive anatomy, self-examination, and sexual pleasure in ways never taught or discussed with me before by gynecologists and others in the health field. Through her teachings, I became visibly acquainted with my internal reproductive system. Who would have known? I now embrace the Power of my vagina. Aside from building a relationship with Chula Doula through her community involvements in creating spaces to explore and discuss reproductive health in which I support 100%, I outreached to her for birthing guidance a few years ago. I was 34 and pregnant at the time with my second child after almost 15 years (son's age). I had no clue to what my birthing options really where or the manner on how to approach these options. I too was clueless on the various healthy prenatal options like vitamins, iron and calcium sources, and other supplements that were available to me which aligned with my philosophical dietary patterns. She welcomed all of my questions via phone, text, email, Facebook, and person-to-person contact. Chula Doula really nurtured my pregnancy, my womb, my body (prenatal massage and body care), my spirit, and my mothering abilities with her positive outlook and expert advice. What made and makes Chula Doula shine and unique is that she too is an artist, which I forgot to mention above. After my birth, like a surgeon, she arrived with an icebox to transport the placenta to her home kitchen where she first created several placental art prints, then separated the amniotic sac and the umbilical cord from the placenta to prepare for encapsulation, tincture medicine, and birthing memorabilia. I was gifted with placental art, postnatal placental pills, rubbing amniotic sac tincture, and a beautiful dried umbilical cord shaped into a heart. From time to time (mostly in moments of despair and/or anxiety), I take these pills and my goodness...magic. Real medicine. I have shared much and tried to broaden my experiences working with Chula Doula and in all honesty, every time we come into contact, this beautiful spirit enlightens me with so much knowledge! Most recently, I learned how intricate the relationship between menstrual blood and land is and how this connection brings us closer to each other through blood extractions and water. I sincerely am humbled and grateful for her friendship and continual support, as I have still so much to learn about my body.
