(Lengthy review incoming- but I'm elite for a reason!) We've had one of those years where all the…read morebig expense items happen- car accidents, ER visits, car problems, and eventually septic issues. We weren't aware when we purchased our house that it was on septic (happens with an as-is purchase) and found out after doing a good bit of landscaping. We decided to leave the tank be until something happened and sure enough a few months later after some heavy rain we found the original concrete tank had started collapsing in on itself forming a small sinkhole (aka toddler death trap in my toddler's favorite place to play). In a tizzy we called multiple septic companies to get an idea of how long it would last before the whole system failed and to get quotes on replacing the tank and drain field. Sandhills were some of the first to come out that same day to look at it. Other companies couldn't come by for another day or two. From the start I appreciated their quick response to help calm nerves when other companies weren't as rushed to help. I did end up getting quotes from 3-4 other main companies around and ultimately we went with Sandhills for a few reasons but the biggest one was they were the only ones who were willing to work around our wild garden situation and try their best not to kill things. The other companies were a lot less willing to work with us on that and also were very pushy about doing things "their way", which just didn't allow for much as far as saving our plants went. The quote we got from Sandhills was a little higher than the other companies but we chose them for their willingness to work around plants and their professionalism. They weren't able to fit us in for about 3 weeks, which stressed me out with a septic tank on the fritz and company visiting us and a toddler all while being pregnant, but thankfully the tank lasted and we didn't have to resort to another company. I do think they'd have done their best to move us up if the system totally failed but they are also busy so it just worked out in the end and I'm thankful for that. Rodney and Deshon were very nice and worked hard during the two days it took to replace the septic tank and redo all the drain field, and also demolish the old tank so it wouldn't be a sinkhole anymore. He even had his son out working (summer job I guess!) which sped things up. A few things were unexpected for them like a lot of groundwater filling the hole before placing the tank but my toddler and I were out there watching a lot of the work (excavators are pretty cool, and I'm a soil scientist who loves to see some redox features) and at no point did I hear any complaining about that delaying them or the heat or anything. I've worked manual labor jobs before and am prone to complaining about things like that so I noticed and appreciated that. They also didn't up the final cost due to those delays and I thought that was a possibility; given our year I'm thankful they didn't! Overall I can't recommend them enough and am very glad the stars aligned for us to hire them. Nearly all plants survived the chaos and I am finally not stressed out about our septic tank.

They were very thoughtful about parking and communicating with my neighbors to move their cars too. Only slight feedback I'd give to improve is that they arrived about 2 hours earlier than I expected because they finished a job nearby earlier, but they didn't let me know they were on the way. I'm glad they arrived, but just a heads up would have been helpful in case I wasn't home. Overall, great service and they did a good job!

This review is one I've put off for a few months. Not due in any part to the business, but the…read moresituation that brought about my interaction with them. Hurricane Helene (9/26/24) caused monumental damage to this community, and unfortunately to my house as well. Though my backyard fence took the brunt of it all, my roof also experienced the results of high winds and flying debris. And so, with shingles missing and small holes now present, it was clear a new roof would be required. I was one of many homeowners reaching out to literally every roofing company, via Yelp's Request A Quote I might add, and one of the responses came from Southpaw. The quote was on point and the timeline (in a single day) was exactly what I was hoping for. They communicated with me that they would be dropping off the shingles the evening before and sure enough around 7 pm a truck, with pallets and forklift, arrived. The team member sat the pallets to one side of the driveway so I was still able to park on it as well. And soon after sunrise the next day, the team arrived. Ladders went up and shingles came flying down. Before I knew it the sound of hammers on the roof began. They were there to work! Around 3 pm I went outside to get the mail and saw they were almost finished. But the weather had other plans. Rain soon followed. They were quick to cover the last section with tarp and waited on my front porch for almost a hour till the rain subsided. And then they got it done! While two were on the last section, the rest of the team were cleaning up the back and front yards. And let me tell you, it turned out beautifully. I hope I don't require roofing services anytime soon, but if I do I know who I will be calling.

Side note (I'm not fat shaming or old shaming!!!! But a much MUCH larger much older gentleman has no business going up a ladder into my attic that has no support and he could barely breath. And didn't even make it up there). he comes in my door with at least an 8 foot ladder and says "I'll do my best not to mess up the walls". I laughed a bit and said "please and Thankyou. We just had them all painted." SIKE! At least 10 spots on my wall that the paint is chipped off, dented, or scuffed. He didn't not even apologize or acknowledge that he messed them up AT ALL. I brushed it off because when I lose it I LOSE IT! Took a deep breath and trucked on. I was telling him about another company that came out and quoted me and he proceeded to tell me he couldn't come near that price but their company was better. That's fine. Everyone thinks they are the best. That's business. Understandable. He kept going and I kept my mouth shut about the walls for as long as I could. He goes outside to look at the roof and said he had to meet up with a coworker later and he would give me a call. At this point I want him gone now! So I was very short but remained polite and told him to have a good day. I'll be in touch. So I go inside and go about my day. I'm sitting on my couch and here he goes walking by my window measuring my house. Then I lost it. I opened my door and said I don't want your business please leave! He laughed. I slammed the door. 3 minutes later he calls me. I answered and hung up and told him to leave my property now or I would make him come inside and fix my walls (I have paint). He finally left and I called my mother and explained everything. She was even more mad then me so she called the company. She said they were very apologetic and would fix the damage. She told me that they would call me ina few minutes and ask some questions etc. THEY NEVER CALLED . SO.... if you want more damage done to your house then what you called them to fix by all means call them. If not Young's roofing or Crosby is a safe bet. Didn't have any issues with their quote at all. Sorry for all the grammatical errors and what not. I'm upset. We just got our dream home with some minor fixes needed. And now we have more. YAY UPDATE: my husband decided to call them after they didn't return our call as promised. He stated that if I wanted them to come out and fix the damage, I started out on the wrong foot by writing this review.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I STARTED OUT ON THE WRONG FOOT?!?! So we hung up. Words can not describe my emotions right now. UPDATE #2. They called back. They want to resolve the issue. Great. That's awesome. But he kept mentioning this review and how he didn't want it here. So do they want it fixed for us? Or fixed for their reputation? Who knows??? Well on the phone my husband was asked "if we fix the damage will you consider changing/removing this review" THERES YOUR ANSWER........ we will be fixing it ourselves. It's not like it's an expensive or hard fix. No need to hire the original painters to come fix it. It can be fixed with paint and spackle. But that's besides the point. It's the integrity behind it or lack there of. So to the workers reading this. Don't bother calling us again... we don't want your business or your damage control. Here's my final review. And here it shall stay. My recommendation is work on your choice of wording when speaking to a customer, especially in a instance like this. OMG WHAT A BLESSING! CALL SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR NEEDS. I CANT ADVERTISE THE BUSINESS HERE OR THEY CAN REPORT THE REVIEW. THEY CAME OUT ALREADY. SAME DAY. AND TEMPORARILY FIXED THE LEAKING PIPE BOOT UNTIL IT DRIES AND CAN BE FULLY FIXED/REPLACED. ALSO MADE US AWARE OF DAMAGE WE DIDNT EVEN KNOW WE HAD. WE LITERALLY HAVE A HOLE GOING INTO OUR ATTIC. HAVE A BLESSED DAY
