I said at the end of my initial review that Kevin/A2Z Fencing was the only show in town. Thankfully that has changed! I've since seen him build beautiful fences for businesses, but as a homeowner I'm still dealing with his poor workmanship 5 years later. As we've tried to fix the railings he installed, I realize even more what a terrible job he did, even after he "fixed" it. He used ugly perforated lumber for railings that would never touch the ground, only concrete. He should have used outdoor pressured treated lumber that is not perforated. The 4x4 posts he used are twisted and the points at which he drilled permanently into our concrete patio are not even at all points. As we fix everything I run into more and more of his shoddy work and it has frustrated me enough that I feel the need to warn homeowners to be careful. He builds beautiful things for public projects that everyone sees, but it is not a guarantee that he will treat you as a homeowner with the same care. Thankfully our fence is still standing but we're counting down the days until it needs to be replaced (likely before the section of our fence built by Chad Lund 5 years before the section he built!) because it looks more and more twisted as time wears on. The crooked way he built the fence is an eye sore that neighbors still comment on. Working with him has made me distrusting of hiring out any work again. read more

Um, wow...and in a not very good way. Have things ever changed. No matter how responsive or kind the owner was in the beginning, the lack of response and the change of attitude once payment was made is extraordinary! The fence has had problems. Some of the screws broke and the fence started coming apart. Then, the double gates started sagging and looked horrible. Not to mention that it made opening and closing them difficult. The single gate we use daily was done quite poorly and the replace is not quite wide enough so the huge gap looks weird and is quite annoying. The last thing that is going wrong (and mind you, this is just not even 3 months after the fence was built!) is that two of the boards have split almost 3 feet down. We were told they would be replaced. Today, that has not happened. In fact, it took several pleas and reminders to get the double-gates rehung so they at least work. There are more troubling things, but these are the most important ones. If someone wanted to open a fence building company in Sequim, now would be the time. Caroline & Terry read more

We contacted A2Z for an estimate for a chain link fence with two gates for a very large yard. Kevin came and seemed very nice. He and another man took measurements. He said he would return the next night or the night after with the estimate. We never heard from him again. read more

I made an appointment online for an estimate last September. Kevin responded quickly, confirmed the date prior to arriving and gave me an estimate within a few days. He told me he had a large job that would delay my work until November. I agreed and he said he would send my contract via email. His initial response was impressive and I felt he would follow through just as efficiently. A month went by and I did not receive a contract. I called him again in October and he said he would send the contract and that he could do the work in November. Again, no contract and no contact from him. I contacted him again before December, and asked him if he really wanted the job and if not, would he give me referral. He said he wanted the job, would sent a contract right away and would do the work before the end of the December. I realize I should've dropped him when he didn't make even one effort to follow through or contact me in October and November. NO PLACE FOR MY 10****** RATING, READ WHY THEY ARE THAT GOOD!!!! My realtor gave me a referral to this company. As is often the case, what a company can often do is a mystery until you see their work. First impression was good because it seemed like they were always eager to pick up the phone, Their number. one asset is customer service. The only thing I had to provide were laser measurements made after dark to tell him how much cable to bring. He brought power, ac cable to be buried. He also brought a smaller gauge wire to provide push button access directly to the gate. I purchased a well known brand name gate operator (as they are called in the trades) However it was not usable in the configuration of gorgeous stainless steel plating that I received, lucky for me, Kevin instantly knew that he would have to weld something up to replace the useless crap that I was sent. He welded a 90 degree plate with pre-drilled holes to ( that he fabricated on the job ) to replace the part that I was sent. Before moving to Sequim [my favorite place in all the world] I helped contractors problem solve things that they were having difficulties with. Kevin offered me several options that I had not considered because entry gates are out of my area of expertise, at least I know what I don't know. As I was anticipating the next step to do my gate, he had already started doing it, that is very cool. The only stumbling blocks for him to hurdle were the poorly written instruction manual. I know I saved huge amounts of money by having this really bright guy install my entry gate ( has a favorite brand which has give him less than 1% failure rate ) and it was actually operator error for a fraction, I'll call it 10%, of what I had been told by local installers and I kept hearing, gee that's the going rate up here,( I was quoted $6,000 and $9,000 labor to do my job apparently it's not, my nicely functioning gate is proof that this guy thinks outside of the box, seemingly coming up with solutions that make my install better and save me money at the end of the day. I feel very fortunate to have been given his name to add to my list, short list, of people to do what I can't. he goes right up there with "All in 1 services" which I also wrote a glowing review for this company. If you are planning an entry-security gate install, he's the guy to call. Sometimes the only people who can quote you too good to be true amounts are the best at what they do. Kevin & his crew installed our fence today & it looks great! I was especially touched by how much he loved his dog who had passed on. He has a statue memorializing him. My little poodle passed away also before we got the fence put up but our terrier will be kept safely in our sturdy new fence. A neighbor knew of Kevin & his family.
