Exie is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about her work. I was shocked (in a good way!) that the consultation before the massage was quite thorough and did not cut into our hour of massage time. I hadn't experienced this anywhere else; the amount of time you pay for at Tranquil Touch is the amount of time that you are actually on the table being massaged. Exie was very receptive to what type of massage I wanted, any injuries I had, and what areas were causing problems, and tailored the session to meet those needs. She made me feel very comfortable, both physically and emotionally. I can't recommend her more highly!

She has a prenatal table with a cutout/basket to support the belly, so I was able to lay on my stomach for the first portion (at 38 weeks pregnant this is the best thing ever!) I went in with a lot of tension, soreness, and stiffness in my hips and low back (pretty typical pregnancy aches and pains) and left feeling very close to normal and tension-free. I've also had more energy all day since receiving the massage. The office is decorated really nicely - clean, modern, and calming. She played relaxing music during the massage and the temperature was very comfortable in the room. Her location is easy-to-find and there was a reserved parking space for massage clients just outside the door. I plan to return for a post-natal massage and highly recommend Exie's massage services to all pregnant women looking for some relief and relaxation. I'm already working with another birth doula, but if I were still looking, I would certainly consider hiring Exie as my doula.

I was referred to this Center by my midwife and taking classes at this place undeniably turned my…read morepregnancy and birthing experience into something incredibly enjoyable. I took their Holistic childbirth preparation class, their breastfeeding class, and a newborn class. They gave lots of valuable information that provided alternatives to the dated "What to Expect When You're Expecting". I learned information that challenges the medical system, but also respects its benefits at the same time. I think most people do not realize the politics and money behind hospital births, attending these classes really helps you not only with your options (water birth, homebirth, hospital birth, etc) , but also helps you prepare to negotiate with hospital staff so you can have the birthing experience you want. You also get to meet other parents who are on your wavelength. The Center is very welcoming, and has a lending library consisting of videos and birhting and parenting books. They just started a Breastfeeding room where breastfeeding moms can go to find support. I also learned about cloth diapering in the class and how much easier it is than people think. I regret not taking their mothering arts group, which is for mom and baby up to 6 months old. One of the very valuable things I learned here was vocalization, an alternative to "Lamaze". Vocalization is what helped me get through my contractions. It's using deep guttoral animalistic sounds rather than "hee hee hee" breathing.

I've made several attempts to contact Gillian and no response. It saddens me that this is how I am treated and I hope this is not how moms ready to give birth are treated! She came to the…read morehospital at 7am to help us advocate for ourselves and help us decide between an induction or repeat c section at just 34 weeks. We chose induction and sent her home for a while as we knew it was going to be a long day. She kept continuous contact via text and made the call to come back on her own once my waters had broken. At that point I was handling contractions great, but within an hour of her arrival they intensified quickly, like she knew exactly when I would need her. She was a continuous calming presence for me, helped my husband in supporting me, and provided a barrier between me and the constant interruption of doctors and nurses checking in. When baby started having scary heart decels she remained calm and warned me a lot of people were about to come into the room and what was happening. Despite knowing things weren't going the way I wanted her demeanor helped me remain calm. The call was made to have a repeat c section. Angela accompanied us to the OR for a 2-ish hour surgery as I had so much scar tissue from prior c sections. Our preemie was born an hour in and my husband followed her to the NICU. Angela stayed with me holding my hand and telling me what was happening almost the entire time, only leaving my side when I requested her to get an update on my baby. She followed me to recovery and stayed until I was ready for her to leave. My husband had been concerned about whether a doula would be "worth it" in the event of a c section, and I can confidently say she was worth every penny and I would do it all over again. In fact, if we didn't live so far away (almost 2 hours) I would hire her for postpartum care as well. She has continued to remain in contact during our NICU stay, checking in on me, my healing, my mental state, and asking about baby. We love Angela and are so grateful for the love and care she provided us through this beautiful and scary experience.
