I have waited to write this until I had time to calm down and reflect on my move. I am so disappointed in this company and the manner in which I was treated. Rather than doing the right thing and re-scheduling when they had adequate staff, they went ahead with substandard help and did a substandard job. Not only was the bill double the estimate, and that was with the boss present doing the estimate but multiple items were broken. Containers that I had labeled were left in wrong areas. My wood floor was deeply scratched, for which the boss felt the need to admonish the mover uncomfortably in front of me. And the movers complained non stop. When the broken items were brought to the boss's attention, he shrugged it off and said he was not responsible for items he didn't pack. Although a glass table top he packed was chipped. The move was not completed in one day due to the fact that the boss became ill and was not able to continue, and he only had two men with him, one being in his late 70's 80's who had indicated to me that he would not be able to unpack the items even if they continued. And although the boss spent a substantial amount of time in my bathroom, I was charged for that time. I received a call later that day stating that due to their busy schedule they could finish the job three days later. Being that moving is stressful itself, you do not need a company that will add to that stress. I highly suggest you do not hire this company. read more

excellent movers with great care, courtesy, helpful and personable. we were extremely happy with BOTH moves. we moved from an apartment to our new house and they moved our china cabinets, table, chairs and servers from a different location to our house. all done in excellent time and great prices!! I recently used this company and they were beyond terrific. They were careful with all my items and even took my 2 plants. All the guys were extremely polite and respectful of my belongings. The price was exactly as estimated which was very reasonable. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. They were on time and had me moved into my new place in 2 hours. Bonnie was extremely helpful and answered all my questions. There was no hard sales pitch, which I appreciated. I would recommend this company. read more

WARNING! If you value your home and furniture, DO NOT hire this company to move you. They ruined my furniture, walls and my brand new hardwood floors. When I complained and they came out to "repair", and I am using that term lightly, they made the damage even worse. They were nice when I hired them, but the minute I started complaining about my damage, they were very rude. Bonnie, who is involved in the whole move told me that she didn't want to be involved with my complaints. All of a sudden, she didn't want to be involved. After I booked them, Bonnie called me to say she was faxing over a form that I needed to sign and give to Roy at the move. She told me it was just a formality and that she doesn't like to see people pay for something they shouldn't have, so she circled "no extra insurance" and told me that they were fully insured, no extra insurance needed since they had so much insurance. She was saving me money. What a joke that turned out to be. They destroyed almost every piece of furniture they moved. My tv stand has to be fully replaced, there is no fixing it. Big gash on the whole side of the unit and on the top. They took off whole corners of another piece, cannot be repaired. Have to have my wood floors redone in some places and my walls all painted, mostly because they "repaired" them. I will be more than happy to share my pictures of all the damage they did while moving and after the repairs. They looked like they literally shoved everything on the truck, held it in and quickly closed the doors. Thankfully I wasn't bringing it all, it never would have fit. Nothing A1 about this company and the move was from from rosey. I am not one to write a review, but I really don't want to see anyone else go thru what I went thru with them. DO NOT USE A-1 ROSE MOVERS in Scotch Plains! I was scheduled for a move which was confirmed by a phone call a few weeks prior. The week before the move I had reached out to ask them to bring something to dismantle a piece of furniture. When I called the woman told me she was just going to call me and unfortunately they were not able to move me, they must of gotten a bigger job out of state so they were canceling my confirmed move. The woman on the phone said oh, there are other movers. I was upset, I didn't curse or anything but I knew it was going to be harder and more expensive to get someone on such short notice. Plus, the house I was moving into to care for my mother wouldn't be completed until the end of the month. The woman hung up on me and after calling and leaving a message about her unprofessionalism she said oh, we can do it tomorrow. As I said, there was no where to put the furniture, I didn't bother returning the call. So now I had to hire a different mover for double the price. That is no way to do business and I will make everyone I can aware of their horrible business practices, as promised. Unlike A-1, I will keep my word. Moving is stressful enough, no one needs to be scrambling for a mover last minute and paying inflated prices. read more

DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS. This is the least professional mover I have ever had. I have moved over 40 times (airlines family). These movers broke items, delivered our items to the wrong house (two heirloom chairs from my mother), severely damaged furniture and lost items. They stacked book boxes on top of Fragile boxes, even though they were clearly labeled with bright yellow and pink labels. Not only would they not make the move right by offering repairs or the return of our items, but they would not return our phone calls. They wouldn't even answer the phone when we called them. They would not answer texts. You should also know that they are NOT LICENSED to move in the state of New Jersey or the United States. They carry minimum insurance that only covers their trucks. This mover is the worst of the worst. No matter what the price quoted is, it is not worth it. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE MOVERS. read more

They did a fine job for me except fit the scuffing of there shoes on the back of each stairs of my staircase Also the pricing I was gouged and it was mostly corrected and the insurances offered was a joke. Very limited. read more

If I had seen these reviews beforehand, I would NEVER had hired them. Mine is a sad tale like the rest of these reviews. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! So first of all, I was given a quote for 6 hours because that was the estimate for moving all my stuff. I told the owner, Roy, that I was probably not going to have that many boxes to move because I was going to move them myself. He NEVER told me that there was a 6 hour minimum. I only found that out when they were done moving when I said, "it wasn't six hours", it was only 4.5 hours. He then informs me of the 6 hour minimum. I told him if I had known that, I would have had them move more and I would not have done it myself. He said that they didn't want to spend all day moving, which is what I PAID them to do. So before the move, I get the form that has to be sent according to the state. It says that "blah blah blah" and the amount of the insurance. Standard insurance for damages is $1/pound. It explains that if you have a vase worth $1000 that is damaged, you only get what the weight of the vase is according to the standard insurance, so if it weighs two pounds, you get $2. You can buy extra insurance if you want. So I called the owner of A1 Rose Moving Company after emailing multiple times for an answer if they have ever had a claim and getting no response and ask him about the insurance since my two bedrooms furniture are worth a lot more than $1/pound and I am concerned if anything happens. He tells me that additional insurance is about $350 but he guarantees that if anything happens, he will take care of it to make it right. So moving day, they are supposed to show up between 9-930am. They finally get there at 950am. Ok so they are only 20 minutes after the final time. I go room by room telling them what needs to go. Well, after the fact I go through the house and find that they did not move everything that I told them. It was a few items, not a big deal, I can handle it. Not happy but I should have checked. Lesson learned. During the move, it takes them almost an hour to get my headboard out of my room. Which by the way the other three guys are outside doing nothing but smoking cigarettes. They end up taking the legs off of my headboard to get it out of the bedroom, which means they have to take the decorative parts off of the headboard to get to the bolts. Now since my brothers, who are NOT professional movers, did not have to do this the last time I moved, it was curious that "professional" movers could not figure this out. They put together my bed and then suggest that "I" just glue the decorative parts back on since they don't have the glue or staples to put them back on. While they were trying to put them back on, they managed to break one of them. They also dragged my son's mattress on something and tore the plastic sheet that was on it. When they put his bed back together, they did not bother the screw in all the screws. I found this out when my son was sitting on his bed and put his heel into one of the screws that was sticking out. And then I noticed all the missing screws that weren't missing before they moved the bed. They also did not leave the Allen Wrench that was used to take his bed apart, which is the only way to take apart the bed. And then I noticed that there was a huge scratch on my son's headboard that wasn't there before the move. And the living room mirror hooks were just gone. And I found broken pieces of my dresser drawer tracks in one of the drawers when I was putting clothes away so the drawers don't close properly now. And the washing machine that they didn't bother to hook up because when they disconnected it, they broke the plastic housing that held the connectors in place and the hook up fell into the washing machine backing. I had a handyman fix that because at this point I didn't trust that it would be done right. I had better luck having my family move me than this company and it only cost me some beer and pizza. So I finally spoke to the owner and he said he would make it right. He comes to my house to put the decorative pieces back on my bed with "crazy glue" and manages to drip glue on my hardwood floor in my bedroom. It looks like shit. Not only that but he didn't even get one of them to match up with the original spot so now my bedroom headboard had this decorative piece that shows where it was supposed to be but isn't. The owner said he would buy a new plastic sheet and get me a new Allen Wrench but that is not going to fix all the damage that was done. He did a crappy job "taking care of things". Do not use this company; I am so unhappy with the move. Save yourself the headache! I should have just bought beer and pizza for my family! Then he has the gall to send me a letter saying I said the insurance was too much money and I declined it. That was based solely on him saying that if there was a problem he would make it right.
