Since this company was turned over from an independent exterminator who retired, I can say this company is a joke. The techs who came out were unprepared and lazy. The last service I received I was told the outside was sprayed. After reviewing from my camera , it never occurred. I asked the tech to please spray and he did all in about 3 minutes. I have to say I had a house party of mice back in November and tried real hard to try to get rid of them for one month without much success decided it was time for an exterminator to visit my home. I have heard with A1 exterminator and decided to give them a shot at my house. I have had nothing but the upmost respect and knowledge for Dan R. He explained absolutely everything I needed to know and how to handle things for the first few weeks, he has been so kind and respectful when coming into my home and walking us through the whole process. He followed up 2 weeks later rebaited all the traps and again he went through the process again. Again had to have him come back only because we have a big house and lots of traps due to demo work in our neighborhood and the mice wanted to party here. Dan R I can't thank you enough for being so kind respectful and have lots of knowledge about this proces. If you're having any rodent problems this winter don't hesitate to give this company a call they are number 1 in my eyes. Just use someone else. No effort at all to find the mice issue. Tech didn't check attic, didn't check bulkhead door. Didn't check closets. He placed flip traps and food supply traps with poison food. Basically a Home Depot run. $300!!! We!! Found the entry of where mice came in, we found the food horde, we caught the mice in the no kill traps bought on Amazon, and caught on sticky traps, and flip traps. Use smelly cheese my friends, find food horde, and sticky traps at the threshold of closests. Once we did that mouse problem gone in a week. Took almost 2 months following the lack of instructions or direction from the tech and customer service is very arrogant when comes to concerns. The gentleman always had some of a rebuttal when I asked to not send the same technician. I said he didn't check the attic he didn't have a ladder I said I had a step stool so he could pop his head up there but he said he didn't need to check the attic they probably aren't there. They sent the same guy again! Who set more flips traps. $1 flip traps. They have the nerve to send me a $125 additional bill to then activate" the "6month warranty" as if the $300 wasn't enough to be a warranty. When it comes to mice you can catch them and get rid of them yourself. Work fast and look for them they aren't going to come to you. read more

Extremely disappointed in our "inspection". For $150 the guy was in and out of our house in 10 minutes and said he found nothing. Suggested we go see a dermatologist!!!!! Seriously!?! Well maybe if he did more than check for bedbugs, which wasn't what I asked them to check for in the first place, he might have been able to help us. I immediately called to complain and they did not offer any type of assistance. I told them we will go elsewhere. Funny their website says free estimate. But an "inspection" is $150. House months are increasingly becoming a problem I hired A-1 for moth treatment. I followed their requirements to the letter, sending all wool rugs out for professional cleaning and moth treatment. Moths were evident after the initial treatment, which required vacating the house for 4 hours. They came back 2 more times applying chemical treatments. Didn't make a dent in the problem. I asked that they consider doing a heat treatment, a method used in England where moths are problematic. After being rebuffed by their customer service person, I left a message for the manager. No response. DON'T USE A1 FOR MOTHS. It was a total waste of money. read more

Was getting monthly mosquito and tick treatment for yard. Yesterday the tech came when we were not home and spent 4 mins spraying and left. I called and complained and was told he was there for 20 mins. They did not care that I had the ring videos of him. Very poor customer service and lazy techs who just sit in their truck in front of your house so the GPS thinks they are working. read more

I don't think anyone really wants to be able to review an extermination service. I didn't, yet life threw a bit of a bed bug curve ball my way. And they are gross and instill fear and worry and..... Icky. So, everyone I've spoken or otherwise dealt with from A1 has been lovely. Calming, patient, informative. Wendi is amazing, and handled a couple of administrative complications with our treatment with aplomb and professionalism. Roland came out for the 1st treatment and was very nice. I have no idea what to look for in an exterminator, I guess I've been lucky to this point... but he seemed to know what he was doing :) My advice: don't get bed bugs (apparently getting harder to do these days). But if you do, I think you'd be in good hands with A1. read more

Very shady business practices. These guys sent me a demanding letter in the mail stating that the former homeowner had a termite control contract and that I needed to renew it or I'll be in breach of the contract. It said that they would be coming out to pull up the green in-ground termite bait stations. I called and spoke to a woman and asked her to elaborate. She said that it's very important to continue the contract and they don't want to come out to pull them out but absolutely will unless I wrote them a check. I told them that I'll gladly pull them out and leave them on the curb to pick up. After the scare tactics, they never even came out to pick them up! read more

Ineffective for mice, unfriendly billing. We inherited a contract ($155 quarterly) in our new place. A-1 claims they inspect for wasps/bees and check termite stakes. (I have not found any termite stakes in our property around the outside of the house.) During the contract, our 3-floor, 2-unit building developed a persistent mouse problem (seeing them daily). A-1 sent someone a couple times to set bait stations, with no effect. We eventually hired Master Miceproofers, and after 1 visit we have not seen another mouse for 6+ months. One time we had a billing issue (I forget what exactly; they sent the bill to our neighbor or something). They were difficult to get ahold of and unapologetic about late fees. read more

I've contracted with these guys for about 3 years. They do the treatment 1 time per quarter. The bugs always come back. The mice always come back. This company doesn't exterminate, this company displaces bugs only to have them come back. They should be called "A1 Bug Displacement". Also, the technicians never ever treat for the active bees nests that are less than 25 feet above the ground. The technician always passes the buck saying he doesn't have a ladder to treat for bees, and that I need to call to have another technician treat for the bees. The technician never puts on the report that he located an active bees nest, so the next technician who comes out doesn't know where it is. Part of the included service is to treat for active bees nests so all technicians should come to this property with a ladder. Failure to show up with the proper equipment to perform the job looks unprofessional, and I feel like they are trying to cheat the customer from performing the full service. Out of 12 quarterly visits in 3 years I would say maybe 3 of the 12 technicians treated for active bees nests, the others just pass the buck and really only want to do the minimum work. Called A1 Exterminators based on a referral. The response was prompt and efficient which was greatly appreciated based on my need to exterminate for ants, but that was the extent of the help. I scheduled an appointment for 8am on a Monday. I called at 830am on that Monday after no one showed up only to be told the exterminator was out sick. I should have been notified immediately, not me having to call and find out myself. I decided to give the company another opportunity, so I booked another appointment for that Thursday. I again scheduled an 8am appointment, only to call at 830am when no one showed up - this time, another exterminator was "out", and I was bumped to 9/930am without being told. I wasn't able to sit around due to my need to actually be on time to an appointment that I had. I've since contacted another extermination company. read more

Save your money and your time and go with another pest control company. Our service tech came out to address an issue in our new home and could not have cared less about our concerns. He rushed through the inspection, skipped rooms and closets, offered advice that could have caused serious harm and health issues to everyone in our home, and did not provide any follow up paperwork after his "service". He kept informing us that his schedule was full and had to move on to another house. In actuality, it was the end of the day and he wanted to go home. We have placed multiple calls to speak with a manager about the service (or lack thereof) that we received and have never heard back from anyone. They were more than happy to take our money though. Dealing with A1 has been an absolute nightmare. Avoid at all costs. read more

This summer we were very fortunate to have a wonderful solution to an awful problem. A raccoon had used our chimney as her delivery room and when she moved out we became infested with fleas. James swung by to assess although he had a full schedule on the Saturday we realized that we "might" have a problem. He was back on Monday and did an extremely thorough job of spraying and stuck with us until the problem was resolved. We were extremely pleased with the attention and efficiency to our problem. Last May A-1 came out to spray for a nest of carpenter ants under my front porch. In the following weeks the carpenter ants showed no sign of abating. I called A 1 and asked them to return and re-spray, which they reluctantly did, because it had been raining the day they sprayed, and possibly diluted the poison. In July we opened the porch deck and found the nest still alive and very active. I called A-1 to complain, but they have not returned my calls. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Obviously doing a review for a pest company isn't something you want to do but I needed to do for Jeff and his team. We had a serious yellow jacket problem in our home. So much so that they chewed a hole in our dining room ceiling and I had to kill about 40 of them. We had an issue with the initial service call as the tech was new and didn't have a ladder. However, I cannot tell you how happy I am with the way they solved the problem. The owner of the company Jeff came out personally and handled the extermination. I own two businesses myself and I believe this is the way business should be handled. When the owner of a company comes out personally on a Saturday to address a problem you know for sure they care about their customers. While it's only been the afternoon we believe the problem is solved and if it is not Jeff said he would be back again! Great customer service guys honestly it's rare to find these days. read more

This company is unprofessional and ineffective. They came out right away to collect the check and lay down a few mice poison station. When the problem persisted they had no appointments available and then cancelled another appointment. When asked to seal the exterior entry points of where the mouse where coming in, they said "we don't do that for mice". Pretty much a was of $320 for a 20 minute job. read more

I had them come because of a rat problem, and they did a perfectly acceptable job, but the guy told us a follow-up was included in the initial payment (which was expensive to begin with). Come to find out that that's not true, and it costs $125. So we called him when we found a rat in one of his traps, and he came and got rid of it. We thought it was covered. Now I'm stuck paying these dishonest clowns to throw away a piece of trash I would have dealt with myself if he had been honest with me in the first place. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Hidden fees and rip-off pricing don't make the customer happy. read more
