I first "met" Al on the phone in 2019 when looking for someone to repair a failing refrigerator. Al listened to me while I gave him a detailed "Gone With the Wind" description regarding my ten year old Frigidaire with a freezer compartment maintaining the 40-degree temperature while the fridge compartment was sustaining roughly room temperature. When I finished the story, Al suggested a couple people that are fridge experts, and he then said that he is actually a Washer-Dryer specialist. I thanked Al for the suggestions, and told him I was so appreciative, that if I have a problem with my washer and/or dryer, he would be the first call I would make. All that based on his super high ratings. Well, here it is, about five years later (I got a new fridge to replace the other one in 2022... nothing was delivering during the peak COVID years), and my washer kept giving me F- 11 faults. I leaped for the phone and called Al. and got scheduled and he did a great job - especially with my old washer which is very limited in parts still being available. The washer (a Kenmore a.k.a. Whirlpool) started humming again rather than driving me nuts going into a "fault" mode for the five years mentioned earlier. Not longer than that, my dryer motor gave up the ghost, and this time, Al found a good-condition used motor, and viola, it ran again. When I knew the system was back running again, I told Al that if one of them kicks the bucket, I'll give him them so he can refurbish them and I'll get myself a new one. I dread the day that happens because I'm not a fan of artificial intelligence. Watch a re-run of "2001, Space Odyssey" and check out Hal 9000 again for a refresher of what is coming up in the world. I am not sure about all the digital gobble de-goop coming up. I only can think how difficult it will be when Mr. Al Harris is not around to reboot Hal 9000's broken A.I.-infested equipment while he still can make the antique ones quietly humming along. In October we purchased a dryer from Al for our daughter. When he installed it he said he would order a handle for it. Also said the dryer had a 6 month guarantee. My daughter contacted him after a few months to check on the handle as she had never heard back from him. He stated he had forgotten and would get it ordered. She also mentioned that it seemed to take longer than expected to dry a load. He said when he brought the handle he would look at it. It is now mid January and he has not brought the handle, looked at why it takes long to dry or contacted her about the delay. Wow! I am so impressed. We spoke with Al about a dryer that broke on us while we were staying in our family's vacation home in Redmond. We recently had a 17 year old maytag washer quit with lots of banging noises and a full load of wet clothes and it was Saturday afternoon! Called A1 because of the good reviews and I am glad I did. Our dryer was taking forever to dry clothes. Al came out, noticed that not much air was coming out the vent outside the house, pulled the dryer away from the wall. While he went to his truck to get his tools I stuck my hand in the dryer vent hose. Lo and behold there was a pine cone stuck in there. Apparently a brown squirrel had hauled it in there to keep warm. Replaced the hose and all worked well. Al refused to take any money for the call. A great guy. I'll definitely call him again when we need appliance repair. I feel bad that all Al got out of this was a nice Yelp reviews and a bizarre story of how a brown squirrel stopped up a dryer hose. These guys were at my door 3.5 hours after I called and replaced a drum pulley in my dryer for $150 including parts. They oils up and cleaned everything...leaving it better than they found out!! Al and Tui are great! So grateful after two places still have not even returned my calls after two days and another place told me $120 just for a diagnostic. Sheesh. I called Al about my washer that was displaying an F51 code - which meant it could be a loose connection, something stuck between the inner/outer tub, something caught under the washer, or perhaps a broken connector board. Al said he could come over the next day (yippee!!!) and went to work on the washer. After a solid exam, he found a loose connection -- he disconnected then reconnected and told me to run a cycle and to call him if there were any issues and he'd come back. When asked about payment, he said "no charge"... really? Who does that in the appliance business? Someone that is trustworthy, reliable, honest... no wonder he's been in business for so many years and has so many stellar reviews!
