This studio is okay…read more I've been studying Bikram Yoga for a little over two years now and have practiced at several different studios throughout the U.S. I currently live in San Francisco and practice at Global Yoga almost everyday so even when I'm out of town, I do a search for local yoga studios so I can maintain my routine. The language that the instructors use to guide the students through each pose is almost the same; however, they alter the nuances of some of the poses just enough to make them different for me. When I'm a visitor at a studio, I try to honor the teacher's instruction as best I can, but I found that the details that this studio either omitted or altered was a little odd. Especially since out of the 6 or 7 studios I have either visited or have been a student at, it was the first time I'd ever heard of such alterations. But looking at the website again, they don't claim to be Bikram, they're hot yoga, but the 26 poses are generally the same. I'm so accustomed to the gentle, nurturing yet thorough instruction at Mary Jarvis' studio, it's hard to visit another place but this one was the hardest. The studio is fine. It's clean and there's ample space. The room's temperature was fine and in fact, could've been a little hotter. Again, if you're looking for somewhere to practice, this could be okay. But if you're working on your shoulder-to-chin connection on some of your poses or bending over pidgeon-toed, it's not the practice here. And they'll come over to correct that.

During the holidays, I was driving to Columbus 2/3x's a week just for my yoga and Pilates thru ClassPass. I just got back into town to see my folks for the month, and was sooooooo stoked to stumble upon this little gem of a yoga/ Pilates studio here in small town Mount Vernon Ohio. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, was a little skeptical coming from SF, cos I love a good hard Yoga/Pilates class to keep me in my best shape, and wasn't sure if I was going to get the same workout. Happy to report back that I love Hot Yoga Escape and highly recommend everyone or anyone to try this place out. The studio offers Bikram style Yoga, along with Vinyassa Flow and Hot Pilates. I tried out both their Vinyassa Yoga Flow and Pilates, and really liked both classes. I love the studio even more that they have Mind Body class reservation system in place to help me coordinate my week + stay organized on line. :) Depending on the instructors, some classes are easier/harder but non the less, a great workout for all levels. My wife and I tried showing up while a class was in session 2 months ago, but the doors were locked, so I assume they only have the doors open shortly before a class with the instructor the only employee on site, then lock the doors for security. No problem, fair enough. I recently decided the best approach would be to submit an email through their website. I was ready to roll and sent a message similar to what I've said so far. There was no reply for over a day so a little bent out of shape I sent another message with obviously hurt feelings, which did prompt a response. Charlene Brande sent from her iPhone "How can I help you?" I could be wrong but I was assuming the owner of a yoga studio would have a clue on what kind of help I was looking for. I responded again still with hurt feelings explained how awkward it was for me to start with and this kind of reply didn't help, so for my efforts I have been ignored, i decided to go ahead and try yoga via streaming service. While doing my beginner yoga, I told my wife about what was going on, and apparently she had called 2 months ago and got ignored also. This place has a nice website and some interesting classes laid out which I assume I will never now that the communication got weird to non existent. The fact that she does her business through her phone exemplifies that she doesn't care about her potential clients or somehow she has some "weeding out " process. What a way to run a business.

When learning who the new owner was I followed them on social media in hopes to connect. I was disappointed to quickly see their views/ethics/ and approach in opposition to YOHI's previous leadership. Posts that are abelist in opposition to being trauma informed. Post that spread right wing conspiracies about the Covid vaccine. Posts that condemn the black lives matter movement. I remember marching in the streets with the former owners asking for accountability of our police force for minority brothers and sisters in this city. It makes me very sad to say I can no longer give financially to this studio when it's owners ethic and my own are this far out alignment. I know many of the teachers are the same from before. This is no reflection on them and I wish them the best. I simply cannot support the space any longer
