Therese H. managed a backyard project this year. It started with tearing out everything, including vines that had taken over. It continued on with creating a berm (18 cubic yards of dirt, I'm glad she hired someone to wheelbarrow the dirt around the house). After sod and brick border, it was time to think about the plantings on the berm.
Together, we chose to work with Waldbart & Sons Nursery, since W&SN had done a great job at my place of business on tree plantings. TH decided on emerald arborvitae. I happened to be the one who took a half-day to hang around and observe the installation. The workers did a fine job, though personally I would have removed a little more twine and loosened up the burlap root covering. I'm told that the wrappings and twine will decompose. But, since we paid for the installation rather than do it ourselves, there is a warranty on the trees.
Thanks, WN, our backyard looks better. read more
