I have been going her for years and years. They have the best selection of natural cat and dog food around. They have so many options for dogs who are allergic to certain ingredients. The staff is very nice, and accommodating. They will order special items you cannot find in the store. They have a huge selection of raw dog foods and treats. Great Selection of grass seeds, fertilizers, and just about everything you need for growing. I also get reward coupons in the mail for my purchases. We were looking for a cocktail and they had what we were looking for. We got the call on 11/1/23 the day of the first snow fall but that didn't stop us from going to get our baby. Sure enough he was a beautiful little dna tested boy just what we wanted. After spending a bunch we took him home. Melissa the manager was a very cordial person. She let us know that she clips nails as well as wings with an appointment. She would love to see the little one again in the future. I definitely would recommend going to A W Brown if you are looking for any bird product because the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to the products for your pets. read more

I was highly disappointed during a trip for some guppies in the fish/pet area a few days ago. The animals seem to be mostly well cared for, with the exception of the tiny aquatic frogs. I do have knowledge and experience with this particular breed, the African Dwarf Frog. However, the conditions were the opposite of everything they needed, and the employee I mentioned this to, didn't seem the slightest bit interested in what I had to say. I mentioned that the goldfish they shared the tank with were likely to injure or eat them, I was told "We haven't lost any." And "it's only temporary." These guys are about an inch long, perfect snack size for goldfish, who are not picky eaters. The employee also said that they were fed bloodworms, which are not recommended due to the damage to the frogs' internal organs, caused by bloodworms being high in fat. Despite these frogs being fully aquatic, the do need to surface for air. Unfortunately, the water level was higher than they should have had to be able to reach the surface comfortably. Lastly, these frogs are messy bottom eaters who are most safely kept without sand or gravel in their tanks, we of they are likey to ingest it when they eat,? causing impaction. (Unable to poop) As this is a small place, and not a big chain, I expected much more willingness to be educated, sice frogs have different requirements than fish and do not expect the same level of knowledge as more common pets. read more

Yippee!! Finally, a GREAT one spot shop to stop for my pet needs on the way back home (UP the east coast and THRU East longmeadow . When I have to go back up home to NeW Hampshire and I have to stop by a pet shop to get something for my dad's pets I am pleased by the Great prices and service at Browns. This is the type of "mom an dpop shop" that america NEEDS TO keep around for years and years to come. First off you can bring your dog inside. This is great. I get tons of pet stuff here when I am in the area. Everything is priced well, and they have a HUGE selection of pet toys/food/products for all types of animals/birds/fish. They have a nice selection of small animals like rabbits, hamster, mice, guinea pigs, and then they have fish as well. I purchased a rabbit here almost 5 years ago and hes doing great. They also have lawn care products here, though I have never purchased any. When you are checking out they have a whole section of (usually) discounted Yankee Candle candles...I always grab one. I've been going here almost a year and a half now, mainly for dog food, and I felt compelled to write a review for the excellent costumer service I received today. I always do when I go, but today I went to purchase some new perennials. As a novice gardener I know barely the basics of gardening. Any questions I had, Kate was able to answer in a way I could easily understand. She showed me how to keep my plants healthy and gave plenty of advice. She also helped load my car and took care of everything I needed. Thank you Kate, I really appreciate your hard work and kindness, especially in such a hot and humid day as it was today. Goggle has hours 8-8 pm. Called today at 7:24 pm. Yes--someone picked up. Rudest person ever! Informed me that they started closing at 6 pm months ago--yet When you google them it says 8 pm. So Mr. Brown rather than answering the phone and responding very rude to a customer---don't answer it cuz your closed! Nice comprehensive store for garden and pets - I buy my quality dog and cat food there because they have an excellent variety of brands and flavors. Also, is the best most well stocked bird feeding place you could hope to find. I also get horse feed there. Very lucky to live close by such a nice store. Horrible! There reptiles are sick and they will not make things right at all. I paid $70 for a chameleon that I brought back 12 hours later because it wasn't right. It ended up dying in their care after 2 days and that's a $70 loss to me?! Bullshit! They do not care about their customers at all never mind the faithful ones such as myself that go in there every week. read more

My husband and I are here at least a few times every month, and for good reason. Who doesn't want the best in pet and garden supplies all in one place? The pet selection is amazing. Our dog has trouble with allergies, and is on the natural balance limited ingredient diet. Petco actually has a decent price on this with free shipping, but it's no more expensive at Brown's, and we'd rather support local business. Plus, I love look through the unique toys and treats, and my husband is obsessed with the bio bricks they sell. Because of our dog's allergies, we are constantly in need of solution to clean his ears. When our vet has a question about the brands that we use at home, we don't always know the answer. Telling him it came from Brown's is good enough to vouch for its quality. Bottom line: decent prices, great quality, and a pleasant experience. You can't go wrong. read more
