A + tutoring deserves an A+. They have the best tutors I have ever used. The owner, Roman, is very helpful and knowledgeable. He really seems to care about the progress of students. He is also very helpful about college counseling and preparing for placement tests. They are very good about getting you matched with the right tutor for your child. I have used them for my daughter in both middle school and high school. My daughter was tutored by Jordon in math and ended up getting an A in math because of him. Lloyd was another math tutor we used, and he was excellent as well. We also used a tutor named Mary H. for English. She was amazing at helping my daughter write a research paper. It was a difficult project, but because of Mary, my daughter got an A on the paper. My daughter's teacher was a very difficult teacher, so that A was very hard to come by. Mary asked that the assignment be emailed to her before the session so that she could be better prepared for the lesson. She was really helpful and going that extra mile made her an excellent English tutor. A + Tutoring is very accommodating regarding scheduling, especially on weekends. Jaleesa is very prompt about setting up tutoring appointments. I really appreciate that, because during the week it is often too hectic. My son just had his first tutoring visit tonight. He is an honors student in the International Baccalaureate program at Newbury Park High School. He is currently in Calculus and despite hours of practice each night and a good working relationship with his teacher, he was struggling to understand some of the concepts. Excellent, excellent SAT preparation program. We were initially attracted to the program because they come out to your home for introductory meeting and all tutoring sessions. So the convenience cannot be beat. Roman will also work with your schedule and always accommodate changes. He's a very nice guys and a pleasure to work with. Another highlight of the program is that Roman makes the student directly accountable for the time she puts into studying. He can see how much time she has logged online through the study portal. That takes the burden off the parent to constantly nag the student to study. Roman tells her what is expected, then follows up and lets her know when she's not meeting her commitment. My daughter called me after school a few weeks back and I could hear her beaming with excitement through the phone. What a great feeling as a parent. She had just scored a 13.5 / 14 on an Algebra quiz. A week later, I received an almost identical call from her, she scored another A on a quiz. Her grade in 1st year Algebra had slipped to a D. I knew she "got it" but, could not implement what she knew. I am absolutely no help in the subject so, I sought out someone who did. I could not be happier with the complete 180 that my daughter approaches and now conquers Algebra. She just missed an A on her latest exam. I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long to seek help. She almost has a B in the class and am confident she will by the end of the semester. Roman seems to have this down to a science. My son has never done well in math but is a good B+ student. He took his first test on his own and received 1070 (540 Eng/530Math). Just before he took it again we signed up with A+tutoring. His next test was just slightly above 1090 (540 Eng/550 Math). He kept studying with A+ and earned a 1210 (590 Eng/620 Math), which we were all quite pleased with. We were hoping we could get his score around 1250 so he kept studying and he signed up for one more test. He just received his last SAT scores. He scored a 1440 (730 Eng / 730 Math). He also moved his essay results from a 6-5-6 to a 7-5-8. Cindy and David really helped him achieve those higher scores, an improvement of 270 points, with the overall supervision of Roman!! The tutors are highly professional and friendly. My son, 11th grader , needed help with raising his score in English language SAT part. His total score was just 1935 . We found the tutoring experience with A+ Tutoring to be a wonderful, eye opening experience. Whereas the other tutoring services we looked into seemed to be more about their fees and getting a long term contract, I was impressed with how Roman used the free practice exams to analyze my sons strengths and weaknesses, and then the tutors were able to focus on the areas that needed the most work.
