Located in the small courtyard retail area near Westheimer and Shepherd, this place is easy to miss. It is behind the bead shop that is visible from Shepherd, which is adjacent to Torchy's Tacos. Once I finally located it and walked in I was really impressed with this place. This man offers machine engraving for a multitude of items and also offers HAND engraving! This trip I brought in a James Avery blank disc charm to be engraved with initials on front and a message on back. I chose the hand engraving for the monogram. He did a quick sketch on a piece of paper of the monogram and it looked fabulous. I can't believe he could draw it so beautifully so quickly. This was a last minute gift idea, and he had it ready for me in just 24 hours. I picked the necklace up a day later and it looks beautiful! See the pics I posted. I also brought a bottle of Johnnie Walker that I wanted to have engraved. Spec's offers this, but I needed a quicker turn around. He said he only needed 2 days, but to my surprise he had it ready in 1 day and I picked it up the same time as the necklace! I have also posted a pic of the liquor bottle. What a wonderful experience I had with this store. The staff are friendly and helpful, made great suggestions (suggested hand engraving rather than machine, which lasts longer). I was skeptical that hand engraving would be as nice as a machine, but WOW, I was very impressed with their workmanship. I had taken in a very expensive/high end designer bracelet and trusted them with hand engraving a sentiment on the top of this bracelet. These people are great. I had marble mortar & pestles engraved for my friends when they graduated pharmacy school & not only did A Touch of Class Engraving do an incredible job, but for a great price too. I had called other people around Houston to see if they could engrave marble, and the general response I got was "No" or "by machine only" and I was told that it would take up to 2 weeks and cost some absurd amount. When I went to A Touch of Class, they said they could have it ready for me in 2 or 3 business days for a fantastic price, engraved by hand. Also, they were so polite & professional, which is a huge plus on top of a great service provided. They were perfect. I came here to get a watch engraved for my husband, and I was so pleased on how lovely it came out. There are few shops in Houston that provides engraving services, but this has to be the best. I'm all about supporting small businesses! Ann works the front and is the sweetest lady. I wanted to have this done before Father's Day and they made sure to make it happen. I was pleasantly surprised by this place, Juan was professional and brought my broken trophy back to life. I had a traveling work trophy that needed repair and although the trophy is still broken, he repaired what he could and went above my expectations on the repair. They do not do laser engraving, I had to take it somewhere else for that, so I cannot speak on the quality of the engraving. He did fix the immediate problem for a reasonable price. Oh yes! Nice as they can be......and utterly inept! just ruined a $300 antique sterling piece that was to be gift. And for this I had to wait for two weeks! First name and middle name to be engraved. 11 letters. Was assured he could duplicate the letters of another engraved piece ....left both pieces with them. The original piece was returned with two dents not previously there and the engraving looked as if it was the work of some student who was just learning! The lines of the "M" did not connect and the segments of the "V" part f the "M" were not the same length!! He tried to "fix" it but it was a lost cause. He made excuses.....his eyes were going bad and needed two pairs of glasses...."every hand is different"....etc. etc. No doubt that engraving is an exceedingly difficult art....but if you really cannot do it, do not lead people to believe that you can and then ruin their rare antique pieces. IF THERE TRULY IS AN EXPERT ENGRAVER IN HOUSTON, I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE. read more
