Since my comments in 2017, she successfully built out the extra space and it's fantastic! For years now, although the salon is typically busy, it does not feel cramped, or overly packed. The staff are constantly busy, be is sweeping, greeting, cutting/coloring/styling, doing consultations, helping each other! The young ladies working the reception area are always so friendly, smiling, and helpful, and they stay busy as well: sweeping, laundering towels, taking out trash, etc. They have great attitudes and are always "on the move" staying busy. I feel like they are contrary to young workers these days as they do a really commendable job! In terms of businesses near Fringe since 2017, things have changed. The Bar [adjacent to the south] is now Pizzelle's Confections. Pints and Pixels is now adjacent to the north. Parlor Doughnuts replace the original space where Rock 'N Roll Sushi was and Rock 'N' Roll Sushi moved to a larger space next door. I mention all this because an appointment at Fringe is surrounded by fun dining/bar/entertainment options within walking distance that makes your appointment more of a destination for an afternoon or evening! Sandy may be eliminating the cute boutique, if I recall correctly, and I don't know if they still offer a punch card for salon product purchases. Do try Fringe! Sandy is a professional, well-respected salon owner and stylist!

I have been contemplating writing a review for some time... and I just can't let it go. I don't…read morewant someone else's hair ruined. I went to get a curly cut almost 2 months ago from Diana. I was specific with what I wanted and didn't want; unsure I'd love the reference photos I took in because my hair has a wavier beach texture and a tighter curly texture the longer it gets, but we talked about it and I thought we were on the same page. I was wrong. I had gone in with mid back, cut straight across hair (very beautiful curls). Wanted some layers and softer U shape... left with.... A tragedy. I had been growing my hair out for 2-3 years at that point, trying to get its length and thickness back to where it was before a bad haircut and home dye job prior. Diana had cut my hair last at Shear and I remember leaving happy enough with it the first time, so I figured I'd give it another try. I wasn't looking for anything dramatically different anyways- I was in love with the length and thickness- just wanted some blunter cut layers and a little shape... nothing thinned or super short. In fact, I even make sure to mention how I wear my hair normally (with no heat, just product, brush, air dry), often in a bun, and with all hair tucked away seeing as I have a baby under the age of 1. she went for it. Between talks and the fear of being a picky client, i let her take off with confidence. Toward the ends of the dry cut, nothing felt too different... until we washed and dried. I stood up to go the wash bowl and SO much of my thick curly hair was left on the floor. I panicked, and tried to play it cool, keeping conversation, laughing, and talking myself into loving it the whole time it dried. I stood up to go and said I loved it, hoping I did... paid, left, and cried. I got home a few hours later, and wept. Seriously. I had spent so long trying to grow my hair out and loved it, but wanted to just add a little life and instead I left with a short layered shag. Ends extremely thin, curtain bangs-esq that were very uneven and almost inverted in their cut... and so much of my gorgeously thick hair was left a memory. The cut, plus two products I grabbed ended up costing me nearly $200. This was my first treat to myself post-partem and I was really heart broken. I called the salon to tell them how I felt, and they told me there really wasn't anything they could do. I knew that, but I was hopeful they'd try? They told me it wasn't like they could do much since it was shorter than wanted and overly layered, but if I had a suggestion to let them know... that was nice, but didn't change the fact that my curly pattern in the front where my bangs got chopped STILL hasn't returned to "normal" post curl-shock, or that my heart was so broken for all the time and care I had put into my hair the last few years. I wouldn't recommend going here unless you know exactly what you want, and don't care much about results. - as kind as possible.

ULTA: SALON | COSMETICS | BEAUTY @ Bridge Street…read more I frequent this salon at Bridge Street to get my wife's hair products as well as my own hair products. I typically use Rusk & Schwarzkopf products ... my wife likes Bed Head. Pretty much whatever you want you will find here. They have a decent selection of colognes & perfumes (like Prada, Gucci, etc) if you happen to be looking for a gift. I have had my black hair color done here and the girls are well educated in their field. Usually, they have someone who specialty is washing hair then your stylist will get you after that ... they use and promote Redken products. The color was almost the best I've had (product wise, I really liked the professional color from Schwarzkopf the best) - but these stylist & colorists really know how to take care of you. You can't really mess up black color, but they know how to make it sheen just a bit more than I can do at home -- as for a cut, I have quite a bit of full hair, but mine ranges from about $20 to $30 - but I always time it for product pickups, so I go out less a lot more cash. Make appointments ... they take their time, they are not pressured to keep the seat warm by rotating customers as fast as possible as some other hair-cut places will do ... the store has tons of stuff to keep you girls occupied, and I think many guys would actually like it as well. Guys with the typical short cut with a two or three guard might not need to go here, but other guys with longer hair with some style needs or color needs I think would like this place. It's where I go ... highly recommended!
