Co-located in a shared…read moreoffice/incubator space in the ever-renovating mills building on Broad Street, aerial yoga is not for everyone or the faint of heart. BUT if you brave it out, it's an experience like no other. Forget what you know about traditional yoga, although having the form and respect for your movement will serve you well. Silk "hammocks" suspended from the ceiling are your toys of the day. Straight out of 50 Shades of Grey or 50 Shades of crazy... it's an experience. I'm older, heavier and crotchetier than most, and was wise enough to experiment with a 30 min one-on-one, led by a nimble, ethereal and gazelle-like instructor - Kora. She takes a lot of the "fear factor" out of the training, and allows for your comfort level. You sit on this hammock and perform different feats against nature, like hanging upside down like a bat. Not bad for my first time, other than my 3 belly jelly rolls had a party hanging out in opposite direction of where they normally are... CHALLENGING! It will help you build upper body strength, core and balance. In a very calming environment. If you are in to trying new things, give it a whirl (LITERALLY!). At a minimum, you can tick that one off the list!

All different types of pain, from muscle spasms, to joint pain, to nerve pain, etc.. Over the past few months I have been been seeing a physical therapist for neck and shoulder problems 2x a week and a chiropractor for back, shoulder, hip and neck problems 2x a week. Over the past 2 weeks, my hips and back have literally been ON FIRE, like if you were to pull my clothes back, I am convinced that what you would see would be a raging, burning fire. About a month ago, I decided that when the kids went back to school, I was going to make it a goal to attend a yoga class twice a week. After all, I had bought not 1, but 2 packages last year and I hadn't made any time to use any of them. I have a crazy busy schedule with all of my doctor's appointments, 2 jobs and two small kids with their own appointments and activities; and I never make time to do anything I enjoy (outside of being "mother"). So anyway, I've been busy, I've been in pain, yadayadayda...and I succeed in making to class last Wednesday! SCORE!!! I was convinced I'd get on the mat and cry for the full 75 minutes because I am so wound up, I was worried I'd let it go as soon as there was silence, lol! Well I didn't cry-at all. In fact, I came out of that ONE class with peace and a sense of openness in my whole body and mind. After that ONE class, the burning throughout my body instantly cooled. My muscles feel awake rather than attacked and I keep repeating to myself: "balance the ease and the effort-find my comfortable place" in everything I do. Bonnie made such an impact on my body and mind after one class, that I crave to be in her class again. Her manual adjustments are amazing and her verbal cues are spot on. Her flows are meaningful and perfect. Bonnie's class is truly healing. On top of all that, she's downright funny, relatable and easy to be around!!! She doesn't take herself too seriously and she makes everyone feel so comfortable to not be perfect, but strive to be comfortable. I was actually surprised at how much more I was able to get into different twists and stretches with her guidance to NOT push it. I've taken many classes where the teacher says that, but there is something in the way that Bonnie approaches it that made it tangible enough to actually believe it-and then execute it and take it off the mat after. I am thrilled to have stumbled upon Bonnie and I wanted to share how much I appreciate her work. I am grateful, to say the least! Thank you! One month update: In a bizarre turn of events, my son jumped into my arms and gave me whiplash. I continued to take Bonnie's class while I was healing. I truly believe in her teaching!

The Maha Yoga Center is the only thing I miss about Bridgewater (besides a friend who lives there)…read more I moved away from there last year, and I still haven't found a yoga place that can compare in any way, shape or form. The owner, Diane Lagadec is absolutely AMAZING. I can't really say enough about her or the Center, but I'll try . . . Not only does the Center offer a variety of yoga classes and teachers, but they have days and times that fit anyone's schedule. I took classes with several teachers, and they were all wonderful. My favorite ones were Diane and Mona Cusick. Each teacher offers something different as far as their approach, so it's an individual thing. I would give any of them a try. The Center also offers many interesting workshops for body, mind and spirit. I took belly dance classes here with two different teachers, and I had a great experience. Check their schedule online for the latest offerings. They also sometimes have special concerts. I went to a Kirtan once, and I had never been to one before. It was really cool, and I recommend going if you like to sing. The space itself is beautiful with spacious yoga rooms . . . there are also 2 large bathrooms for changing. The place is very clean and decorated in a very lovely, spiritual way. There are many wonderful things to buy in the shop, including jewelry, clothing, books, incense, and other supplies. I've bought my most beautiful earrings here, and a shirt that I get compliments on every time I wear it. The people who work at the Center are so nice you'll want to come back again and again. I wish I could come back here, but I now live in Cambridge and got rid of my car. Sigh. If you live in the Bridgewater area, you MUST check it out. By the way, the Center moved some time ago, and aren't in Central Square. They are at 992 Bedford Street (Route 18).
